Maurice Richard was to French Canadians what Muhammad Ali was to African Americans. Whether it was fair for him to be suspended or not is debatable, since there's no video of what happened. But that was Richard's significance, and his suspension, combined with Clarence Campbell's almost defiantly cavalier attitude in its aftermath, ignited an absolute powderkeg in Quebec.

Richard was amazing he is like my idol I did a speech on him nobody knew him and by the end of my speech everyone went home and searched him up came to school teh next day and was like in love with him.

Now I enjoy learning French but I enjoy the most when I can have a conversation with someone who only speaks French and does not know about how caustic and disrespectful I used to be.
I would still make fun of Quebecois but now it is about being "buddies" and no more insulting or putting down...

I arrived two years ago to Montreal, very biased and negative about the French people and their culture and some experiences on the first days and weeks further made me harsh against the Quebecois.
During the last two years, I have to say I have met very nice people, French Canadians, Quebecois, however you wan to call it.
