  • But, i gotta say, this version is technically flawless...

  • Any Buckingham-less Mac, ain't the Mac...

  • the only reason this was descent is because the original rhythm section is still there.

  • Just 4 mins of shit

  • How dare you even attempt this. Long live the Green God and off course Danny Kirwan the only person who can play the solo the correct way.

  • Misses the mark, and the point. Peter Green did it first and best.

  • Guitar playing is ok but the way the singer drags out the quiet bit is a bit naff. All in all a tame butreasonable cover. I dont like that 80s look much but thats what they had to do then I guess. No one can touch Peter Green - he was in a class of his own with only BB King, Hendrix and other such legends as peers.

  • Ugh! horrible tacky 80's version of a 60's classic

  • I'm a big Peter Green fan, this version kicks butt...Rick Vito is the goods. The only versions that blow are the ones that Buckingham did. Bob Welch kicked butt on it, too. As did the '94/95 versions with Dave Mason. All you Peter Green snobs...crawl back in your holes.

  • @chiliD322

    sssshhh, its ok

  • Dreadful. A family friendly corporate stadium rock version of a very angry song. Billy Burnette (with black hair) was completely out of place in Fleetwood Mac.

  • Scary hair. Great song.

  • i don't see why anyone would have a problem with this, yes I loved the peter green mac best as well, but Buckenham can play and you have the original bass and drums so I like it that they drop back to cover themselves

  • Sacrilege. Everything that Peter Green was against. The dollar sign shaped guitar sums up this cocaine fuelled dross.

  • Mick Fleetwood rocks it so fine.

  • Featuring Huey Lewis and Prince on guitars

  • total crap... rip pete green

  • @wiganlad56 hes not died yet silly lad

  • they raped the peter green's masterpiece

  • shit , there's only one peter green

  • I admit that with Burnette and Vito here, it is not the same as when Green was in the band. But I disagree that when Green left, the band was washed up. Buckingham could do this song good. When he left the band in 1987, it took 2 guitarists to replace him.

  • these dudes are ruining this....

  • VITO can play the pants off anyone

  • @yamahabb400 RUBBISH! Peter Green had Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan playing with him! Was he a slouch? Don't be ridiculous. It's simply another great player.

  • @iprefermaryann You are absolutely correct!

  • When Peter Green left it was the death of fleetwood mac.

What you see here is a Zombie.

  • @oxylunglive

    100% u r right

  • This is a bloated, self-indulgent, lazy piece of shit. This group of hacks turns ths hard-driving blues tune into a bland arena spectacle. Horrible!!!

  • @5891jonathan

    You sir are right!!!

  • @darkbaphomet666

"Flaccid" - soft and hanging loosely or limply; without rigidity.

  • WTF?!?

  • Their cover of 'I loved another woman' stayed true to Peter Green's original-this cover of Oh Well is "glitzed/popped" out and seems like they are mocking/making fun of the original classic song-that isn't right and it doesn't sound good either-their add ons are an insult to my ears-Peter Green's original Fleetwood Mac line up is untouchable still! Rock on Peter Green and Danny Kirwan's 'Oh Well' blues!

  • bullshit

  • i feel like i just watched peter green get kicked in the balls

  • not half as good as the old version with Peter Green

  • It's kind of fucked up, but it sounds like they're covering this song, even though it's still Fleetwood Mac. Instrumentally it's fine but there's no substitute for Peter Green's voice. Plus it doesn't look right with them playing sweaty blues and wearing those faggoty 80's outfits.

  • @gaugeinvariant Your comments are completely repulsive. Every line up of Fleetwood Mac has done "Oh Well" in concert, and Peter Green prefers the Burnette/Vito version! Google it!

  • @realfleetwoodmacfan The fact that you're completely repulsed by my comment means that it's high time for you to wash the sand out of your vagina. I don't care which version Peter Green prefers, because he lost his marbles a long time ago. The live version with Peter Green is by far the best of the 5 versions of this song in my collection. And no, this weak 80's version doesn't make that list.

  • @gaugeinvariant Wow, you're a classy guy. Why don't you stroke your opinion and leave the rest of us alone. You may not dig this version, fine. Why the hell would you show up here just to sling mud? Your taste in music is betrayed by your ugly words. Peter Green is doing great, by the way.

  • @ChrisOtheBigC I didn't show up here just to sling mud, I showed up here because I searched for "Fleetwood Mac Oh Well", and I didn't like what I found. That OK with you Your Highness?

  • @ChrisOtheBigC And what do you mean by leave the rest of "us" alone? Who is "us"? I'm in agreement with the two top rated commenters on this video.

  • @gaugeinvariant Bully for you man. It must be cool to be Mister popular opinion. Last time I checked there were more thumbs up on this than thumbs down. Probably peeps didn't like you saying shit like faggit and getb the sand outta your vajayjay. I know I don't.

  • this is a joke peter is a proper guitar man these are just in it for chicks and glory!

  • @adz6386 While I agree w/your sentiment, let's not tottally bow off becoming a rock star for chicks & glory. I mean if it weren't for those things we wouldn't have Bon Jovi,The Police,Rod Stewart...Oh wait. Uhhhh,Never mind...forget I said anything.

  • a disgrace!!!!suprsed mike fleetwoods let this go!!!long live pete green!!!more talent in his finger than these lot together

  • @oxylunglive This is fucking diabolical-no comparison to Peter green's 60's live version, that was raw and powerful-this is lame bollox

  • the guitar is really great but the vocals absolutly suck!

  • @oxylunglive

i agreen....this version is not good

  • very smart move to change it up and add two guitarists, and avoid the one on one comparison to lindsay..the best thing i like about this mix is getting rid of that annoying thing that Lindsay performs with and calls a guitar..i see Billy has the classic white custom les paul that Lindsay used so successfully on the early lps with stevie -.another smart move.. i still miss Lindsays performance & vocals..

  • @oxylunglive This is almost like blasphemy-what is funny-fact they can't play it worth a damn??? Sorry I ran across this. Gimme back the original please!

  • not a patch on the original .

  • this is a cover of a song by a norweigian artist Marius muller its great! he was one of our best guitarists who died tragically in a car crash.

  • @wolfpackwolfheart

Dude, its the other way around. Please do SOME research before posting...

  • @wolfpackwolfheart

Dude, it's the other way around. Please do SOME research before posting ...

  • Language, people, language!Nobody is reading while they listen.Play nice and behave.Thank the person who posted this and after that you may have some curdled milk and a stale cookie and a little nap.

  • People come here to listen to this song, not to listen to you bitch about it.So shut the fuck up.And if you don't like it,don't watch it.

  • Green was the heart and soul of this band and it died when he left it.

  • @Brazeau49 That is an incredibley ignorant thing to say. Green was in this band for only about two years. The band was named for Fleetwood and McVie. A great many people would have ABSOLUTELY NO IDSEA who Peter Green is if not for this band living on. I'm a HUGE Peter Green fan, by the way.

  • @Brazeau49 Okay, when Burnette and Vito joined it died but no no, Rumors is a fine album.

  • pure 80s cheese

  • No matter how many covers I hear of Peter,s song not one of them compares to Green/Kirwan and the original FM.

This is lacking and a bit flat for a lively song.

    Rock on Greenie!

  • Who are these people ffs!!

  • too much noodling with the vocals

  • this is everything that is wrong with modern music..... crap, shite, no soul, no feel no musicality makes me want to shake my head.

You assholes aren't worthy of playing this song! grrrrr

  • wat type of guitar does the lead guitarist have??

  • I think it sounds great

  • No... just no.

  • Not up to Peter Green..OR Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

  • Check out "The Screaming Beans" version of this song, the young guy who plays guitar for them is awesome!

  • Alright, let's get it straight, no-one can come close to Peter Green's beautiful original to this, but those who attack this for being an over synthed 80's rip-off, can you hear the synths because i can't... great listen.

  • This is a really sanitized version! The original is so much better.

  • This version sucks, we want Peter Green!!!

  • Peter Green is the only one who can do this song justice

No one else even comes close.......

  • @MrBigjim1888 AGREED. He is and always will be the original - its HIS song. i don't like the way these two have drawn out the lyrics.. too much tampering with the tempo doesn't work for me.

  • love this song! the guitaring is just so powerful!

  • Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

  • IMAO you brits have tried to copy North American rhythm and blues thru many groups and artist i know many think that is a disgrace be humble

  • @LordOlbermann british music is far superior to american, peter green, led zeppelin, the who, the beatles, eric clapton,

  • @LordOlbermann Funny that it's the virtual Yank lineup of Fleetwood Mac that you've commented on. The Original British version did this stuff much better.

  • Shocking!! Just listened to Peter Green BBC sessions version and was blown away!! Who is the loser front man pretending to be a blues man dressed as a miami vice cop..... wanker!!!

  • @nag4899

That would be Rick Vito and Billy Burnette.

  • this is bad? lol? buy ears ppl

  • god almighty who are those fucking rejects out front long live PETER GREEN!

  • Great version in a 80s setting

  • How dare they? I feel like getting sick. They are not Peter Green's Mac. Mick should know better. This sounds like Garth Brooks. Stevie Nicks and Lyndsey Buckingham have their own style, own songs and they should stick to that. Shame.

  • sweet 80s attire

  • awful

  • ouch!! this hurts

  • "Mick" still pounding out those heavy deep Drumm rythms

  • green's song's concept resonates to those that get it and not many can belly up to a cover without it sounding phony...hail peter green, his version of both the bluesbreakers and mac

  • Didn't help things by adding all that are crap to it that wasn't in the original

  • It's not that bad, its pretty bad though! especially after watching (Peter Green's) Fleetwood Mac perform this in the late 60's which is an incredible performance.

  • BBC 69' version is so much cooler. This is overindulgent 80's crap. I don't know if I am watching FM or Mike and the Mechanics?

  • pile of shite

  • sorry but this is shit. Love the original but this is just gratuitous 80's masturbation.

  • Shame, shame, shame.

  • i hate the 80s, with few exceptions

this being nowhere near any kind of exception

    hahaha

  • who are these people!!!!!!!!

  • the oh well intro is too hard for these guys to play this is a rubbish version of peter greens classic!

  • Oh well...........................

  • I remember hearing a promo for a concert on the radio and thinking "who the hell are these two clowns?". I rest my case.

  • Come back Peter, its time to rise again!

  • Absolutely awful version of a fantastic Peter Green creation....

But hey, this was FM in their totally crap days when ol' Mick Fleetwood and co were trying to hold the band together for the sake of the money....

  • i dont like this. guitar is good , well its ok.

  • I was born in 85 and in the last 8 years or so have come to know fleetwood Mac and the different line ups. Correct me if I am wrong this song was done by Peter Green I think his name is right? I heard that version and this but never with Lindsey why??

  • This song was played last year during Unleashed tour where Lindsey played guitar. You can search some video of that here...

  • @lakelandchief Lindsay Buckingham is a very good guitarist, but not in the same league as Peter Green. There's therefore no point in listening other than from a historical point of view to anyone else playing Oh Well. A classic riff.

  • @davetowers1 Thanks very much for you reply. I finally did find a version it was like click here click there you know lol. There voices are the same and everything. Thanks.

  • @lakelandchief You're welcome. This is the best version I've found & Iisten to it every day: watch?v=Q4vVpI3fYJk&playnext_from=TL&videos=17zsil0gIDM it'smind-blowing. Also try "just for you", that'll be playing very loud in my garden all summer

  • @lakelandchief Lindsay Buckingham is a very good guitarist, but not in the same league as Peter Green. There's therefore no point in listening other than from a historical point of view to anyone else playing Oh Well. A classic riff.

  • @lakelandchief I think there been 11 different line ups of the band this is from there blues era with Peter Green as frontman in late 60's, Id imagine every line up has performed this live at some point as it is a great & popular song from the Peter Green era John McVie and Mick Fleetwood have never left the band unlike every single other band member (some have left temporarily) which is lucky as its their names (Peter Green named the band incidentally)

  • @lakelandchief For the longest time only the version with Green was available on airplay. Then Balin took it on with the band & we hear this live one more often now.

  • @lakelandchief

Plus Lindsey played on the 75 tour.

  • @lakelandchief Yes it was Peter Green's masterpiece from 1969. Got to no. 2 in the charts in UK!

  • @lakelandchief

this is a good effort but not that good. original in this case is best

  • @lakelandchief Peter Green wrote it back during the original FM lineup.

  • @lakelandchief Lindsey and STevie were not in the band when this song was released ... Bob Welsh and Peter Green were original members of FM. I was born in '84 and I have been a FM fan since the day I was born. I love them! My mom was a huge fan... and had all their vinyls... up to 1989 (when she passed). I think she looked a lot like Stevie nicks... and it COULD be the reason why I love them so much... but It could also be because they are one of a kind. The best song writers / musicians ever

  • @84tashalaree Actually Bob Welch came much later, but I love him too. FM has had 16 memebers over the years!

  • This isn't a patch on Peter Green & Danny Kirwan - but no-one could be for me. Thanks for the post though, it reminds me of the 80's

  • @davetowers1 When Peter Green did it, it was the blues, when this lot do it, it's just music.

  • @wjf0ne yea you're right on the nail. Don't forget Danny though, that bloke could vibrato a whole bar chord, I've never seen anything like it. PG however with the possible exception of Hendrix is my favourite guitarist of all time. It's the touch & feel of the hammer-ons & pull offs, I guess Knofler isn't far behind either.

  • How could Fleetwood Mac degenerate into this dreadful rubbish :(

  • @jedmon01

yes i agree, a horror sound... Pop ... just shit.

Some songs never should be covered. All these Follow ups of Greeny.

  • Blues !!! you must be joking.

    This is sooooo awful ....

  • Went to see Peter Green at the Komedia Club, in Bath last night. Even in his pretty fragile state, his version of 'Oh Well!' knocked the SH 1 T out of this awful west coast mullet-headed rubbish.

    Good concert - GO GREENY!!

  • Compared to a year ago, Peter Green isn't as fragile. The fact that's he's been touring on, and off for over a solid year is a very good sign. I've noticed (per Youtube) his confidence is growing stronger. As for this, Rick Vito was only playing "Oh Well" as the thousands of Lindsey Buckinham fans would want to hear it. Rick Vito actually saw Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in Philadelphia in 1968. He was a true fan of the man. He's the Peter Green in the current Mick Fleewood Blues Band.

  • Fair comment about Vito. My opinion's based purely on this performance and what F.M. came to stand for. I saw the original line up several times and they smoked! Real raw blues. This has all the sharp bits smoothed off. I've seen Greeny a couple of times recently and his confidence is zero when he comes on stage. It takes a lot of boosting by Mike Dodd, who's brilliant and obviously cares hugely about the man, and audience response, which he gets in bucketloads. Then he starts to turn it on.

  • As for the "what FM came to stand for", I'm right with you. Had Peter Green stayed just one more year in FM, the 1970 Boston shows would've been released in 1970 highly promoted on LP, and the US audience would've remembered Green as a true guitar genius. It may have altered Danny Kirwan's decline, though Spencer was going to quit anyway. He didn't have any new ideas. Yet we have that brief period from late 1969-5/70, that Fleetwood Mac was the best live rock band on the planet.

  • Yep! - we're in agreement. Doesn't happen too often on YouTube from what I've been reading. It's been good to chat. Cheers!

  • Can you believe little Stevie would end up with this being HER band

  • k ive just watched lindsay play this and id say these guys r actually much better.

  • What a load of garbage? Why oh why did the band start introducing yanks and stupid yank tarts. This trash is about as bluesy as Donny Osmond

  • Funny that Billy Burnette and RIck Vito are completely omitted from most Fleetwood Mac documentaries- certainly the ones the BBC have been showing recently!

  • Right on Bluego. Mick-on-the-money must know these tarted up Crazy Horses are more overblown soundmen than heavy bluesmen.

  • @BluegoSanchez It's unfair to compare Stevie nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and even Bob Welch with these two jokers, although my favourite line up without doubt was the 68-69 line, they had done some great stuff in the 70's(e.g. the white Fleetwood mac album & Rumours although far far away musically from The original PG's Fleetwood Mac Great for other reasons ) Rumours is still one of my top Five albums of all time there is not one song that isn't Fantastic on the whole album

  • Nice to see Rick Vito is playing with The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, and still performing this song.

  • Terrible bad dream of a cover.

  • i think it was more to do with danny kirwan being awesome playing lead on this song than these guys being rubbish......comparing both bands, and yes they were totally different bands, is silly cuz danny and peter are obviousy so much better

  • BTW, research the things that were said about Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac by some black musicians in Chicago circa 1969. They said the same things, about some white British teenagers covering black Chicago blues, that aome of you are saying about Fleetwood Mac covering a Fleetwood Mac song!

  • I'd like to know your research. My guess it comes from the Chess sessions 1/69. It the was misconceptions the Rolling Stones left five years prior. Yet Otis Spann (playing with FM that day) liked Fleetwood Mac so much he invited them to NYC to be the backing band for his next blues album. Eddie Boyd also allowed FM to play as the backing band for his sessions under the Blue Horizon label. As for Buddy Guy, I think he was intimidated by Peter Green. Eric Clapton didn't scare him at all.

  • Ah, you might have me here. I checked liner notes for the "Chicago" CD my reference was not there. I keep thinking it came from Mick's autobiography, which I sadly loaned out and never got back.

Of course there are well-documented stories of Willie Dixon suing Led Zep (rightfully, IMO) for using his compositions without credit or royalties. And Howlin' Wolf's reticence toward the London Sessions with Clapton, Winwood, etc. Point is, why not let the music stand on its own merits, period?

  • Glad I can enjoy all incarnations of the Mac without having to dump on most of them. This is a pretty hard-hitting "Oh, Well" and I love the power of it. Totally different from how P. Green did it, but I love both versions.

And shouldn't Mick & John have some say about whether or not to cover a song they originally played on? I love the fact that two of the original artists feel qualified to perform this song, and a bunch of Internet pro's feel qualified to say otherwise!

  • shrug.

Doesn't sound half bad music wise, get over yourselves and past your bias.

  • The cat is so small that I can pick him up and hold him.

  • Oh dear! Dear Peter (Green),

I sincerely apologise on behalf of the person (who will remain unnamed) who did that to your song :-(

  • Amen!

  • Anyone can play it, its the genius of writing this.... the awesome Mr Green. And crapped all over by a dick thats short of a slap.

  • this is just embarassing. I hope that the members of the mac look back on this and feel ashamed.

  • the lack of respect for Green's song is unforgivable.........

  • Comment removed

  • @BeauJames59 AGREED! I guess that the "music machine" was in full bore at this point, and Mick and John either didn't care, or thought it was "acceptable". But I'm with you on this one... saw the Buckingham/Nicks version of "the Mac" do this once. As much as I appreciated them as a duo prior to their joining FM, it just wasn't the same.

  • The great Peter Green song and performance woefully done by some jive LA "Ricky Ricardo jr. looking wannabees. I guess it was the 80's and big hair bur come on now.

  • @BeauJames59 Fuckin' right, man.

  • This has all the integrity and value of that remake of The Wicker Man.

  • after green, kirwan and spencer left FM should have gotten a different name. like MC Fleetwood.

i agree with you all. whoever wants to listen to oh well, the master is just a click away!

  • Words cannot express how much I dislike Billy Burnette.

  • Never as good as with Peter Green

  • I hope Peter green isnt listen to this. Long live the Mac!!!

  • This is fcuking horrendous!!

Whoever posted this hasnt a clue who Peter Green is and just how good the original is! If it aint Peter Green it anit worth seein - get this shite off youtube

  • Horrible version! And I can't stomach the outfits and hair! lol

  • such a betrayal of the original

  • OMG....so wrong indeed

  • noooooooooooooooo !!!

  • this verson is hell good anyone who hates it is fucked in the head

  • don't know who these guitar players are.was skeptical but oh well done.

  • Oh dear lord, what is this?! If Peter Green were dead, he'd be spinning in his grave

  • oh god...this is an abomination to the origional. peter green would hate what they have to his song! the guitar isnt too bad but the lyrics are GOD AWEFULL!!

  • How can you blame Billy and Rick for the lyrics? Peter Green wrote those lyrics, and he did not think that they were "God awefull [sic]".

  • rick vito´s gutiars looks like a big piece of crap XDDD i saw him at the harmonie at bonn. but he plays awesome gutiar!! XD

  • This is so wrong!

  • Oh my god....I've never commented before but.....I like where your heads at gramswagon....lmao
