I am an extreme metaldrummer from sweden adn have a question rather then criticism.

Since i am a metaldrummer i love to do some really cool rolls around the kit and i notice that you're holding back. Why are you holding back? Obviously i have a lot to learn about other music styles when it comes to drumming and that is why i ask. And ilove the way you added just a little touch of laid-back on the snare. Awesome // Robin

It's not about how many fills you can do, or how fast you are. The most important thing is the song. If you can make the song groove and feel good then you're on the right track. If I would've done a bunch of flashy fills it wouldn't of fit the music.

I know drumming's not really about fast fills etc (Well, for me it is since i play metal and the fast double bass, blast beats etc are very important in that kind of music) but for me it's realy hard to translate my drumming (since i am originally a metal drummer already from the beginning of my drumjourney) to this kind of music style. My teacher usually calls this the "doublebass disease" or in swedish "Dubbelpedals sjukan" when i love to play flashy fills. but when i listen to this, i learn.

Hahaha, we have something in common, then, but exactly the opposite. This is the kind of drumming I've been playing since I started drums. And now I'm trying to play double bass and metal things, but I can't seem to get it.

Well then youtube is actually a perfect place to get started. Lots and lots of good and bad vids of people playing doublebass. A good tip is to check Romain goulon and George Kollias for some extreme inspiration. When you play doublebass you need lots of energi, patience and aggression. And when you learn doublebass, be very sure your doing it right and count the sixteenth note thoroughly or otherwise you'll end up like any noob on doublebass. a good place to star is actually on freedrumlessons.

Cool. My only criticism is that the piano is mixed pretty loud, its quite hard to hear the acoustic guitar articulately and sometimes the vocals too.

Thanks for your feedback. This was mixed in 5.1 in the studio and not enough attention was spent on the stereo mix. We will work harder to improve it for next time.

No, in our videos we use a Yamaha kit which was lent to us by Yamaha for the shoot. For this project I used my DW Mapa Burl Exotic.

Personally, I think the singer adds tons to the overall song. The voice is another instrument just the the piano, drums, or guitars. Everyone has their own opinion though...Thanks for commenting!
