Our postal system is almost bankrupt and our education system is an example of how lousy the govt runs things. Tort reforms would lower the cost of care. Insurance portablity, being able to buy insurance across state lines, would lower cost. Offereng tax credits when you pay for certain medical cost would also help reduce cost.

Banks issue loans to people who cannot necessarily pay them off or are not in a healthy financial situation. The banks then package these homes into a portfolio and then have European pension funds buy up these portfolios by marketing them as secure. When people started foreclosing on their properties, American banks were stuffed with crap portfolios and could not sell them off, screwing them over. It is because the govt allowed such careless abuse of the market that there is a recession.
Contrary to popular belief in the states, the healthcare in Canada is quite good. The long wait times only apply to those who go to the emergency room with minor illnesses or injuries. I still see the health insurance market in America as a monopoly under which pure free trade dictates the services that Americans get. Something like health care is a basic human need and should be a right (regardless of taxes paid), not a privilege that you pay for through premiums and such.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's highly possible. People usually get what they want, however we also have to lose something to gain it. That's how our society is. People can't expect to achieve better healthcare without something to go out. It takes time and money to train people. But also our budget isn't exactly in abundance especially when we have enemies in europe that would like to see us dead. Better healthcare also means higher standards, no, stricter requirements. It aint free.

You can pass the health care bill and seeing as how we have such a problem with Identity theft you can keep all your hospital records on the f-fid chip that you can implant in every person needing health care in this country. Then what suggestions might you have? Nationalized health care has worked pretty well for a great many countries. Another thing is that too much emphasis is put on socialist or fascist or capitalist. A country needs a certain degree of socialism otherwise it cannot function as a unified body. Your postal services and education are just some of the nationalized systems that work in America. Why shouldn't health care be nationalized?

hey gotz2, national healthcare has not worked pretty well in other countries including yours in Canada. Our postal system is almost bankrupt and our education system is an example of how lousy the govt runs things. Tort reforms would lower the cost of care. Insurance portablity, being able to buy insurance across state lines, would lower cost. Offereng tax credits when you pay for certain medical cost would also help reduce cost.

I get that idea from the fact that the two extremes of political governing systems don't work. Complete capitalism and dictatorships are two ends of the spectrum and both are just as detrimental to society. One example of a major failure of capitalism is the sub prime crisis. It was brought about by the inadvertent greed of individuals in your banking system and the lack of morality behind their decisions. If the government had stepped in, large bailouts to corporations might not have happened.

Banks issue loans to people who cannot necessarily pay them off or are not in a healthy financial situation. The banks then package these homes into a portfolio and then have European pension funds buy up these portfolios by marketing them as secure. When people started foreclosing on their properties, American banks were stuffed with crap portfolios and could not sell them off, screwing them over. It is because the govt allowed such careless abuse of the market that there is a recession.

Contrary to popular belief in the states, the healthcare in Canada is quite good. The long wait times only apply to those who go to the emergency room with minor illnesses or injuries. I still see the health insurance market in America as a monopoly under which pure free trade dictates the services that Americans get. Something like health care is a basic human need and should be a right (regardless of taxes paid), not a privilege that you pay for through premiums and such.

Do the math: AARP has over over 35 MILLION members... 60, 000 is a very small minority, a tiny fraction.
If you haven't noticed, the gap between the rich and the poor in this country has been widening for a decades now, for a lot of Americans, the transition to poverty started a long ways back (forget about the "universal" part, it will never happen: the wealthy will always have theirs).
