Wonderful!! Mine will take off after a scent also, we have to shake the treat bag to get them back. We currently have 4 females and 2 male beagles! I love many different breeds, but I will always have a beagle!!
I read some of the comments about beagles being great pets. I love an active dog myself but do you think it would be wise to have one in city limits? I don't like having a leash on my dog around the neighborhood but I don't want the dog to take off into traffic (from what I've read, beagels do). An active dog that will stick by me and not take off walking to the cotnerstore is what I'm looking for. Am I asking too much with a beagle?
I have had over 10 beagles in my lifetime. During much of this time we lived in the city. A couple of them would wander and not come when called. There is no way to predict this behavior. I would recommend keeping dogs leashed in the city for their safety.
I wish I had such a beatiful natural and secure space for my beagle and golden retriver. There are many homeless animals in my cock suckin country and goverment throwing them to city boundries.
In making Jack's recent feature film, "The Golden Bone" we hiked over 500 miles in the forest. Jack was never on a leash. He would stay near the film crew and when he found a deer scent he would generally let us know by wagging his tail from side to side like an alligator (instead of his normal way) and bark as if he was hurt. We knew we only had a few seconds to get him leashed before he took off. On 3 occasions, he did take off after deer, but we eventually caught him.
Beagles are extremely smart. Because they are so food-motivated, they can be trained pretty easily. Jack will do anything for food - as you can see from his movie clips. In making his movie we hiked over 500 miles in the mountains. Jack was off leash during this time and only took off twice because he encountered a fresh deer scent.
Great video. I, too, wish my Beagle, Lucy, could run around in such a beautiful place (and come back to me, of course) Hope to see the movie. He's awesome!

You can't go wrong with a beagle. They make excellent family pets. We currently have 3 beagles and over the years have had a total of about 9.

Nice vid with cute beale.
I cant find the music on iTunes, is there a way i can get it somewhere else?
ocmiss 3 years ago
No, the music was an original piece by the Kent Curtiss Band specifically for this music video. Perhaps we will see it on their next album.
