I think that CFC's should not be banned. The ozone depletion of CFC's is insignificant to the natural depletion of the ozone itself. People are gonna wonder why the ozone is still the same years from now when the ozone is still the same. Plus if CFC's were not banned then an estimated 40 million lives would be saved from starvation. We could get more food to third world countries because our food would be fresher, this is because CFC's are the best refrigerant! They are also great sterilizers a
I would like this video if only I didn't know that ozone depletion is caused by the absence of UV (or sunlight if you prefer) at the poles because of the inclinasion of the earth in relation with the position of the sun during the respective winters on each hemisphere.
Wen can chit-chat all we want about Cl molecules catalysing the breaking up of ozone but the lack of UV is still the cause of the ozone holes because :
Because CFC's cause so much ozone deplition, ACR technitions mostly use HCFC's (hydroclourofloruocarbons) becuase of the hydrogen its a lot less stable in the atmosphere.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful (1)
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, (2) The Beneficent, the Merciful. (3) Owner of the Day of Judgment, (4) Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. (5) Show us the straight path, (6) The path of those whom Thou hast favoured. Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray. (7)
If in the thirties industries and corporations would have chosen to start using BFC's (Bromofluorocarbons) instead of CFC's, which they happened no to do based on simple pragmatic & economic reasons, our ozone layer would have been almost completely destroyed by now. Bromine is even better in destroying ozone molecules than is Chlorine.
This little known fact if it had happened would have caused mass extinction on our planet. We have been very, very lucky.
thinking that sunscreen causes skin cancer, when it does not... the sun's rays do give out risks of skin cancer, because of the ozone layer disappearing.... most of the ultra-violet rays leak in, making the earth heat up more quicker than carbon dioxide being used down at earth. life on earth depends on these rays but too much of these causes sunburn, increasing the risk of skin cancer!... the ozone layer absorbs most of the uv rays, only small amounts are left in the atmosphere!
I can't believe everyone is brainwashed to think that the sun's ray's cause cancer. It doesn't. The life without sun you wouldn't be here. sunscreen causes skin cancer. Why would something like the sun that's needed for life cause skincancer? Yes, it's true, you can get a sun burn if you're out for to long but skin cancer? LOL. I haven't warn sun block for 4 years.
@ShieldLessLink Pretty sure that curingaging is right... UV rays do cause skin cancer, just like X rays and Gamma rays. UV rays have enough energy to damage the DNA in your skin, which can sometimes lead to skin cancer. So sun block would probably be a wise idea, unless you just sit in front of a screen (I haven't heard that they give you cancer...yet)
sunscreen DOES NOT cause skin cancer.yeah,we need suns light and warmth to survive, but too much CAN CAUSE CANCER...my cousin died waay too early.wanna know why?she was in italy, and put on sunscreen everywhere, except her lips...u dont put sunscreen on ur lips right?but, she got skin cancer on her lip.it spread,to other places...the doctors tried to stop it spreading, but they couldnt.and she died.she was my best friend.believe me,i think i know.
I thought it intersting that the ozone layer is only 1/8 in thick and there has never been a hole in it - just a place thinner than the rest - you will also note that the hole doesn't get worse from 1979 to 2008 - it just thins and thickens with the seasons - the whole debate is over 1/3 of 1/8 of an inch
uh, the ozone layer is NOT 1/8 inches thick. There is an entire layer of the atmosphere called the Ozonosphere that reaches from the bottom of the Stratosphere to just above it. That is around 50 km going up and down. That layer is effected by CFCs in a detrimental way, as the video describes.
No, we aren't going to lose oxygen from this process, at least no meaningful amount. If we had not cut down on CFC use, we'd be using a lot more sunscreen now, since its important in blocking UV rays.
Why did I get 2 thumbs down? I'm new to learning this. Well I dont what CFC is but I still kinda know that Ozone layer is kinda protective or something.
cfc are 4 times heavier than air, how the hell can they get up to the ozone layer? answer: they can't, damn hippies

Hey guys, loving your video keep up the good work.
I think you might be interested in our current project, which goes by the name of UnPlaned. (as in zero planes involved.)
Its an ambitious documentary project about traveling overland in an environmentally friendly way.
To find out more, google: unplaned, or visit unplaned-dot-com

TOO MUCH ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION can infact raise the chances of cancer. these high energy rays can disrupt your DNA molecules.
having "some" ultra violet is healthy, like vitamin D. however too much is not. the ozone keeps us and life from getting too much radiation
