  • Er, thanks for the music history lesson, Prof. I was simply making the point that Talking Heads were a collective, not just David Byrne. It would have been good to see them in the video, but David Byrne, as undeniably talented as he is, is a clearly a malignant narcissist, which is why the rest of the band hate him to this day.

  • @beatlesfan134 stop hiding behind your username. Using a universally likable band in it doesn't by any means make you likeable. David Byrne is a lyrical genius, not to mention a trendsetter in incorporating unconventional rhythms into his songs. And his vocal range is by no means limited. You actually have to know an artist better to insult them. His voice has deep emotion to it in a countless number of songs.

  • Apparently, David Byrne had a backing band. Do they make an appearance in this video?

  • @f18l

Did you read the title to this video? And Talking Heads is no "backing band", they were a ground-breaking band formed in the mid-70's and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

  • Please ! tell me who made this vid with David and what are they working on NOW !?!

  • @julpitt

The title of this video will tell you, also Google and Wikipedia.

  • Originator!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vermin Supreme :D

  • TEMON LOCO.....TEMON.

  • Why doesn't youtube have links to 'buy this video' like they do (not here unfortunately) to 'buy this mp3'? And more to the point, why don't the music houses sell the videos? It's rare that the videos themselves are on sale. What can it mean? It's a rare thing to see capitalists sleeping on the job like this.

It is a comment on our lives of how we chase material things for years - from cars to fancy houses - and in the end "it's the same as it ever was".

  • @hArbingeRofDumb And the answer is...... It sucks.

  • @minielk454 Limited vocal range, meaningless lyrics, and an overall mediocre band playing.

  • @beatlesfan134 well, that's your opinion. i found alot of meaning in these lyrics.

  • @minielk454 Well you find meaning in these lyrics. I'm gonna go ahead and find meaning in the lyrics of Stairway to heaven if you need me.

  • @hArbingeRofDumb No idea this song is one of my all time fav's

  • Tremendously funny and enjoyable...danced it many times in the 1980´s.

  • why are there any dislikes?

  • @heavayburtation The dislikes are probably dyslexics: they see the thumbs down and press it thinking "I love this".

  • this is such a weird video...lol :D

  • Wow, I didnt know Stephen Colbert was the lead singer of Talking Heads! lol

  • What always amazes me is that people think that David Byrne is a Canadian, but he is actually originally from Dumbarton in Scotland! Always loved this song!

  • How dare you say that David Byrne has no talent.

  • If the answer to life is 42 then what's the question?

  • Great song. Nothing more to say.

Anyone who thinks that modern musicians have no creativity like this post.

Cristal skulls. cool shit .

  • @MrHamjr Er..Nah.... Talking heads =

'A term used in the Television business. Used on news shows and reports, 'talking heads' reffers to when the camera focuses on the head and upper shoulders of the newscaster. The resulting footage is that of a head which does not seem to be connected to a body. Thus, the term that is implied is 'talking heads'. - Also where the band got the name from...

OH AND BY THE WAY, DONT FORGET YOUR PROZAC..

  • @robwheelut

Speaking of Prozac... Calm down. Song is not so much about chasing the American Dream or your view of a shitty economy. It's message is saying life brings you along for the ride even when you're not paying attention - there are many paths - and if you're not careful, you may find yourself somewhere you didn't want to be.

  • @robwheelut Calm the fuck down.

  • @robwheelut Pssst,, I think your caps lock is stuck on.

  • anyone else think this guy sounds EXACTLY like Robin Williams. o.O

  • Music videos from the early 80's are the BEST. This and Devo's "Whip It" are my favorites.

  • And you may ask yourself "Why do I look like Lou Diamond Philips?"

And you may ask yourself "Why do I sweat so much?"

  • This & "Burning down the house" are the best songs (my opinion) of the TALKING HEADS.

It´s no band even similar. How could I say: "Brilliant".

  • god I love David Byrne.

  • Amazing.

  • These guys were SO ahead of their time! God, what happened to talent? The Western world better hurry up and get a hold of itself. If music these days was half as good as it was then...

Hindsight again. No one knew then how great they truly were. That was the magic of it all.

  • Note to self: Watch again while high.
