This is amazing what you are doing. Im a third year child and youth worker and we have learned a lot about mental health but i realize that there is still a lot more we can learn to help individuals. I support what your doing 100% there needs to be more knowledge out there about these topics for everyone. my college is taking part in part of the jack project and i plan on taking part in the work shops when they come available. Thank you for doing what you are doing to help others
I work at a group home for people suffering from Mental Health Issues, we teach them how to live with their Illness and live a regular life. On Sunday I saw your article in CL, After reading it I was inspired, I photocpied the story and posted it around the house, and left a note for all staff and residents to read the story. You have inspired me to take my career to a new level, not only do I want to help those with mental illnesses I want to raise awareness. Please Let me know how I can help

Eric, I opened my Canadian Living Magazine and was so shocked to read your story. My heart breaks for you and your family. David and I have a son Sean, 20, who's been struggling most of his life with anxiety and is now struggling with depression in his 3rd year of University. He is currently in therapy. Mental illness runs in my family and I am grateful to you for being so courageous in bringing more attention to it. Sincerely, Karen and David Pollock
For the sake of the future generations of kids on Earth, please understand that most kids hate having to go to school to sit in school for hours at a time to do repetitive assignments like multiplication tables. Then they're given hours of homework, when they could have been spending more time with their immediate family and friends. I think Jack realized this at an early age.
Sometimes this pressure will gradually build and build and build.
I commented on the TvOntario Agenda Youtube video that at one time in our planet's history, Humans lived for 1000 years at a time. But after the Flood as it was told in the Bible, our lifespan was reduced to 10% of that. Kids just wanna be kids. No amount of government intervention will "fix" this. Please don't go this route. It's the wrong path. Pink Floyd had it right "Teacher, leave those kids alone!" Allow child paced learnin
Well done, professionally done video. Must have been so hard to do, so soon after Jack's death.
I feel that parent's push their kids too much to grow up too fast. I'm sure the parent's want the "best" for their kids. That's only natural. But perhaps with the peer pressure, the pressure to "succeed" in school, the parents pressuring the kids to "succeed" in school so they can make the big bucks, get the BIG job and the house with the mortgage, and family, friends, etc...(cont'd next comment)

My son,Luke died April 9/09 also of suicide. Luke had just turned 19 on April 1. None of his friends or family new the depth of his despair. I feel your pain and commend you for doing this video to help people see the signs and remove the stigma of mental illness
So sorry for your loss of Luke. We're walking the same road. We are getting a lot of traction with the video and with a program we're developing in Canada. Please share the video and be well.
This is an amazing tribute to your son ! I suffer with mental health issues and this gives me hope... hope that people begin to understand that we do not choose our feelings... may your son R.I.P xx and what is the beautiful song played in the background
Thank you Eric for this very heartfelt and informative video. In Sarnia, ON, we are suffering a huge loss as a community. In the last 9 months we have lost 7 young people to suicide (all by hanging). Most recently, yesterday and 3 weeks ago, both students from the same high school. I agree that the stigma needs to be lifted. Being a mom of 2 teenagers, I remain hopeful that my kids will not be a statistic. Please do not stop spreading your word. You are an inspiration to me. Dawn xoxoxo
Hello Dawn. I am shocked and saddened by the Sarnia situation. Thank you for your support of the video. Perhaps you can spread the link to the video in the community. Through education and really talking about these issues we will make a difference. Thanks for reaching out. Eric
truely a heartbreaking and powerful video! Your efforts are tremendous! Let's all share this video and encourage youth, to reach out, get help and give help!
Thank you for shinning a light on this issue Eric, we are dreadfully uninformed about this issue and our community still refuses to acknowledge this depth and breadth of this in our society.
Hi Dr Deb. The song is "Let Somebody Save Your Life" by The Lonely. It is beautiful and appropriate. If you would like to to be added to my email list, please message me your email address privately through the 'In Memory of Jack Windeler' facebook group page or to my page. Thanks for your kind words and support. Eric
thank you for making good out of tragedy... my daughter just started at university and I am glad she and many other young people will benefit. blessings to you and your family as you carry on.

Well done video. Clear, concise, and reminds us that everyone must look out for each other. Signs are usually present, and must be acted upon.
