You can never insist on your preferred singer. Even appeal of each opera work differ on every person. So, the next time you watch/listen to a video, go for the aesthetic side of it. Learn to appreciate and enjoy music. If it sounds horrible, you have the option to leave the site. After all, I bet you cannot even reach the same level these singers have accomplished through the years. (^^,)

Non trovo ci sia nulla di male nel dire che la Devia nel ruolo di Violetta pòssa non piacere. Io condivido questo giudizio negativo, ho avuto modo di vederla dal vivo e non mi ha emozionato, dal punto di vista interpretativo lascia parecchio a desiderare. Se non erro, ha debuttato in quest'opera a carriera già maturata, e comunque ha avuto grande successo più per la popolarità della voce che per reale aderenza al ruolo.

Fermo restando che per me la Devia è e rimarrà una delle più grandi colorature della storia e fermo restando la fenomenale esecuzione, non amo in particolar modo le sue Violette. Meglio sicuramente questa di altre di qualche anno fa.

Ribadisco comunque che è semplicemente unica, meravigliosa ed incredibile.

Magari le studentesse si ispirarreso a lei anziché a quelle "figlie impure di Bolena" come la Netrebko e la Gheorghiu

Wow! I've always loved Devia. She never really sang much at the MET except for Gilda.

But she sure upstages Flemming's MET Traviata this season. Afterwards I had to come home and listen to what a "real" Traviata sounded like. I happened to put on the Domingo Stratas movie by Zeffirelli.

I like Renee in certain roles (Manon, Desdemona, Rusalka and Thais immediately leap to mind), don't get me wrong, but she was really miscast as Violetta this late in the game.
