  • does the camera need a battery to make this work?? because mine can't go all the way back D: and i read your response to the guy who had the same problem but not sure if it's because mine doesn't have battery, does that matter?

PS: my frame counter has an S, and i don't know what means (sorry for my ignorance lol)

  • YOU ARE THE BEST

  • this video is so sexy +.+

  • Thank you so much for showing exactly where to stick the leader end of the film no one else would explain it like that have tried taking pictures 3 times with the same roll of film for it to be still stuck where it started. THANK YOU!!!

  • If your Advance lever doesn't move, then if your camera is battery operated e.g his camera or my A1, then you probably need a new battery. If yours is not battery operated like a Pentax Spotmatic then you need to take it to a repair shop

  • He uses Ilford HP5 from what I can see

  • thanks! (:

  • My film advance lever is stuck. It doesn't advance the film at all. I have a Minolta X-700. The shutter won't operate and the film advance lever is stuck. I don't know what the fuck to do.

  • IM HAVING SOME TROUBLE DOING THIS, HENCE THE CAPS.

  • Fantastic playlist of videos -- thanks for the help!

  • what kind of film do you use?

  • I love this SO HELPFUL

  • thank you!!!!(:

  • Hi,

I have a used Canon ae-1 that I just received. There is a battery in it but I think it needs to be changed. When I received it I pressed the shutter release button which is pressed before the film is rewound. From that moment on the battery is loose in the compartment: it does not touch both connectors at the same time. It seems that the bottom connector is inside the camera and it doesn't want to come up.

How can I release it back in order for the battery to be held by both connectors?

  • I got an canon ae-1. How do you upload photos to your computer?

  • oh my god! ive been trying to remeber how i opend the film foreverrrrr!

    thanks lol

  • oh my god im going to slaughter something. THIS LOOKS SO SIMPLE BUT IT IS SOO FUCKING HARD! im so god damn frustrated right now. it keeps ripping the film! like fuck.

  • I posted a video response...

Can you help me, maybe? Why won't mine feed all the way through? It won't "grab" the film...

Am I doing something wrong? Even if I hold the roll of film in place, it still won't grab on.. It's so frustrating.

  • This is very simple, but very helpful.

just what I needed and just my style.

    Thanks tons!

  • thank you very much. found an old a1 under the roof of my grandperants flat. try to reactivate the cam from my grandpa who died in 1989. cheers

  • Thanks so much!

This is exactly what I needed.

  • Thanks

  • I thought I was the last man using a Canon AE-1...nice post

  • thank you! this video helped!

  • hi when i pull my lever up, nothing pops out

    can you please help?

  • my lever cant go all the way back

  • @helpyouriphone The lever locks when fully wound. Release the shutter to unlock it and check again. If film is loaded, the film might be jammed. If it's unloaded and the shutter has been fired and it still won't go back, then the lever itself might be jammed and you need to have it repaired.

  • @mrmekon thanks but how do i repiar it thanks for repling

  • @helpyouriphone Camera repair is a specialized skill. If you're very mechanically inclined you can buy a repair manual and camera repair tools from micro-tools and try it yourself, but you stand a good chance of making it worse. Otherwise you can take it to any specialty camera shop that does repairs.

  • @mrmekon Do you have an AE1 progam? cos i do (chrome finish); battery is still healthy.

  • @mrmekon another question: right now. my camera doesn't have battery. could that be the reason the lever doesn't turn? thanks

  • @mrmekon I got the same problem. right now i don't have the film loaded, and the lever only move about 45 degree. what might cause it to stuck? thank you

  • omg!!! thanks so much, i was losing my mind putting the film in.

    :3

  • Just press the shutter button as if u were taking a photo and then you will be able to do it all over again.

  • i pulled it back once and the spool didnt grab the film, so i went and redid everything and tried to pull back the advanced lever but it woudlnt pull back all the way

  • All the videos are just so helpful. It's great!!!!

  • you've broken my ruddy camera! other than that, thanks.

  • Hi. I saw that you were loading an Ilford HP5. What's the difference between that film and the Delta line and Kodak tri-x 400 and Tmax 400 (I love those two last mentioned films)

  • i picked this same camera up for 134+ Sigma 27-70mm F3.5 lens came with it at this store. Good condition. Taken 5 rolls with it so far, slight dirt on some, so i had the shop clean it out better. Its from 1983 after all. The lens is ok. I plan to pick up a 50mm prime for the DOF goodness

  • Extremely helpful!

  • I have a shit ton of trouble with this. The film wont go up the take up spool, i don't know why, but it wont. please help

  • Thanks, good video!
