Haven't seen the movie since I was about 9-10, why were they breaking the law? Don't remember, and how come this song is kinda different from what I remember?

They were running form the law because The cop Lyle was messing with one of the black truck drivers spidermite and they got in a huge fight and beat the hell out of each other. in a bar. and This is the Version from the movie. the one everything thinks is the movie song has nothing really to do with the movie at all except for the same Trucker names and some similar events to the movie.

Great movie........love the comradeship of the truckies. But theres also something depressing about the whole thing.......maybe because its so out of date.......or theres the fact that you cant beat the system like this......decisions like lisence fees are made by the senate.....and the convoy only annoys the police. In the end, the only way to beat the system is to join it and change it from within.

I remember this movie and looked forward to watching re-runs. Now it's hard to find it playing on TV. So I found a DVD of it and bought it, so now I can see it any time. As time went on and I got older, I realized later that this movie was basiclly a big "Mack" truck commercial. A good percentage of Macks used were all brand new models and the other brands were of old worn out models. You had Rubber Ducks Mack RD 300 out front and Pig Pens Mack Cruise liner in the #2 spot.
