  • thank you for sharing...

  • smart guy!

  • There are several key factors worth noting here. First, not all parents are capable of educating their child. I'm not sure if those capable (in terms of own culture, new media literacy, knowledge and competence to apply some psychology and pedagogy) are as many as the others. Furthermore, parents often disconnected from the future (technology, jobs, etc.) and likely to, beyond a point, missguide childrens' education based on own experience. Who decides who's fit to educate own child?

  • @mihairoab thx for the comment...seems you are speaking of homeschooling from the perspective of parents alone interacting with/ 'teaching' their children...seems de-schooling does not have to mean that...and homeschooling, if that is even the ideal term to use, can be much more than simply parent-child interaction...if we see life as the classroom then it seems natural to view community as a natural extension of the home learning environment...both local and global...both offline and online...

  • @mihairoab seems important for people to increasingly come to the realization that life is learning...and a natural state which does not need to be imposed, but rather cultivated, stimulated - nurtured and facilitated...seems a step in a positive direction would be to rethink the concept of home...to recognize it as the most immediate learning space instead of viewing a collection of buildings located elsewhere in the town/city as representing the main and/or only ideal learning space...

  • Interesting thought about George's comment at 2:30 where, referring to sitting still and listening, he says "it takes years of schooling before they can do that well." I wonder how much of "doing it well" originates from institutional conditioning and the undermining of a capacity to self-direct learning, rather than something more positive.
