I remember trying to get the secret 105% ending for this game, it was before the internet so you had to figure it out on your own.

A friend said you had to collect all the bananas in the game so I went back and did so and wasted all that time.

Then I found out you really had to do it with no check points, but I love Donkey Kong so it was all worth it.

Nintendo is famous for having endings that are totaly outrangeous or give insight into the next game (if there is one) only if the player collects EVERYTHING. They are also one of the only game companies to introduce the 100%+ idea, leading gamers to think they have won, when really, they have only just did the minimum requirements to beat the game first time around. This game is no exception.

Long story: Rare made the country series, miyamoto or some other guy didn't really care for them, but the games made money anyway, so go figure. Come gamecube, microsoft buys out rare, donkey kong is owned by nintendo, so now rare has no legal rights to make any more DK games, and nintendo... well, they'll leave the platformers to mario...
