  • all true, but as always with Paul's songs it can be applied to something : a new Love or some blow, in this case .....

  • @DeerStop69 it was about weed you n00b

  • Don't really know if it's a bit far-fetched, but; "What can I do, What Can-I-Be (Cannabis?)" - when one takes the rest of the facts in consideration...

  • lmfao best song about pot I've heard XD

  • This song brings back memories of the summer ahh good times! ;)

  • Many people don't know that Paul wrote this song for the Supremes, but, Berry Gordy rejected it, as he had everything-writing, musicians, etc.-in house...

  • Awesome tune to listen especially in the morning.

  • I wish I had a fat one to smoke right about now...

  • All these CD mixes absolutely SUCK compared to what was originally released on vinyl, and played in the U.S. Tambourine WAAAAAAAY out in front. Ringo's drums muted like he's a mile away. This is so F****** annoying! Way to ruin a great song.

  • does it really matter what its about?

  • You guys are ridiculous, some of you think everything is about pot..

0:36 "you didnt run you didnt lie you know i just wanted to hold you"

Come on, you really think thats about pot and not a girl? Youve really lost it if you honestly think this song is about drugs. Im not an anti pot fanatic or anything (I smoke it once in a while actually) but you guys are missing the true meaning when you interperet everything to be about marijuana.

  • @allstar00442288 technically pot doesnt lie or run and it can be held.the lyrics could very well be "refer"ing to pot.so this mystery remains unsolved

  • @szammi47 I looked it up actually. On wikipedia it says the song was about pot, but the specific section that said that was written really unprofessionally. I checked the link that was cited in that section and it led to nowhere, the link actually just redirects you back to the same page yore on. The person that wrote that completely made it up, and if it actually was about pot there should have been a legitimate source. You can believe it about pot if you want but its fairly obvious its not.

  • @allstar00442288 Mary Jane is a girl :) head on over to "Mary Jane" by Rick James for other examples. They use personification to bring the inanimate object alive, and adds a new layer to the relationship between a person and a plant. It can be interpreted just as a girl, but I believe Paul had ganja on his mind when writing this.

  • Thought this was a love song.....Paul McCartney fooled me when I found out what the real meaning of the song was lol. Good Job Paul, good job xD

Love how The Beatles make you think the song means one thing when it means something else entirely different. Love those boys! :)

  • best part: I WAS ALONE I TOOK A RIDE I DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WOULD FIND THERE!

  • Ithink this song is about what you want it to be about

  • Just to end the argument.

"Got To Get You Into My Life was one I wrote when I had first been introduced to pot. I'd been a rather straight working-class lad but when we started to get into pot it seemed to me to be quite uplifting... I didn't have a hard time with it and to me it was mind-expanding, literally mind-expanding.

So Got To Get You Into My Life is really a song about that, it's not to a person, it's actually about pot."

  • @gimptwist really? Why?

  • best. song. ever.

  • OH MY GOD, I CARE SO MUCH THAT THE BEATLES ONCE DID DRUGS, I CAN NEVER LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

  • its actually about lsd, not weed.

  • acutally in the GIANT beatles antholgly book (by the beatles, great book) paul says its about pot.

  • We sing this at church sometimes... funny how it's about marijuana and not Jesus xD or both? 0.o

  • weed*.

  • I dont know if the song is about dope specifically. Maybe the initial thought, maybe the idea was what inspired it but I dont know if the lyrics are all about smoking week.

  • look its in my favoirtes i dont care its about marijuana!

  • Wow . Great sound !

  • its about weed haha? i thought it was about a girl

  • I don't care if this about marijuana, this is, like, my favorite song! :D

GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE!

  • It's about whatever you want it to be about. It's a fucking song, take from it what you want.

  • QUIT SAYING ALL BEATLES' SONGS ARE ABOUT DRUGS!!!!!! WHY CAN'T IT JUST B AN AMAZING SONG?!

  • @hrtgirl1990 It IS an amazing song, chill. But the song is about marijuana. Paul McCartney confessed in the 90's.

  • One of my favorites :D

  • One of my most faves by these guys....

  • Can it not just be a top song? I obviously respect your opinion and all that but stop talking crap, its just a darn fine song. Happy birthday to the wife....

  • @karlitos993 no, he's, uh.....he's definitely serenading pot, there....

  • Ode to pot!

  • Leonard Bernstein picked this song out on his TV show about music, giving it special praise.

  • He hadn't met Linda yet.

  • Isn't this song about marijuana? Its not Linda...

  • @Domokun461

    yes it is

  • @H3r3Com3sTh3Sun about marijuana? or about linda?

  • @colemanthesoulman

sorry that i didn't answer correctly, it's about marijuana

  • @H3r3Com3sTh3Sun no the song is about LSD as far i know? :)

  • @Domokun461 No. Not every Beatles' song is about drugs u know

  • Paul swinging' it like crazy on the fade - one of his best vocal performances
