  • wow stop according to my recent experience this isn't waltz, it was a simple weak jump with no style and the cross foot where's it?

  • @thebestbyme Actually this is the waltz jump ... and this jump is pretty simple i could do it when i was 9... and you can atually go into the waltz jump without the cross overs but the cross overs bring more speed and helps you get into the air more.

  • Very nice for all of you who can do it. But it isn't the easiest thing to do and getting it perfect is extremely hard and requieres a lot of training, so just accept that there are people who might want to learn it and to whom this is already a hard jump.

  • wow so hard it bacicly looks like hes a perfectional but hes not

  • HIS SKATES ARE SHARPENED

  • @ashleyismyname4525 well duh!

  • advanced? i learned this on my first day. NO JOKE!

  • waltz jump? i call this a three jump...

  • That's not a good sound, plus that jump was weak, you need to us more strength to go higher, believe me I'm a professional figure skater and I have done ballett for 5 years

  • he really needs to get his skates sharpned, that sounded horrible

  • @TheGameMofos that sound was because his skates were sharpened, he was cutting into the ice on a string edge therefore making a sound, you cant do that if your skates are blunt

  • finally can do this without falling and good speed but its the 2nd jump you learn to do....

  • make it seem so easy. last time i tired that i fell on my head..

  • I verly hate this sound of the ice when he skates...

  • @lyricsmaker102 Indeed, his follow is way too deep.

  • How is this advanced? I learned it in Basic 7!

    Here are some tips:

    1) Jump out, not IN, to the circle.

    2) Jump higher, as if doing a bunnyhop

    3) Look into the circle (all but flips are done on circle, and bunnyhop)

    4) when your turning out to jump, stick out your chest, and TURN OUT TO JUMP.

    5) hands are helicopters! Make them firm when jumping into the waltz.

    6) LEFT HAND IN FRONT WHEN YOU LAND. TURN OUT TOE.

  • wow, 2 years olds can do this

  • @taratytara that must explain why I have difficulty doing it since I'm not 2 :-O

  • Well, it's a freestyle 1 move and it's easy to learn but it's hard to get perfect

  • this jump is not advanced but it was a good vid :) it was the first jump and the easiest jump i learned!!!

  • I cant do a jump like that...I can if I hold the wall.

  • Waltz jump are not advanced.......

  • im learning this at the moment it might be worth mentioning that as u go into the curve that you should bend your leg not keep it straight which is where i was going wrong.

  • This isn't advanced...do u gave a video for the layback spin I would really like to see one cause I just can't seem to get mine perfect.

  • I can half do it. But I can't keep my leg up when I land. -_- Good tutorial though!

  • called a 3 jump btw!

  • @TheNinjagals 3 jump you land on the same foot

  • this isn't advanced at all!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this jump! I'm really good at it.

  • I found this one of the hardest to do! I used to skate all the time and it took me half a year to even get anywere near as good as that. I've taken a year off though because of horse riding. Now everything is f*cked up...I can't even do a Forward Spiral anymore...And I have no idea where my coach is...Oh dear :/

  • learning it now XD

  • the Waltz jump is easy, I love that jump!

but he should have done a better entry

  • can anyone tell me how hard this is to learn coz i would like to try it for the first time this week :D

  • if that's advanced, what isn't? a bunny hop? o wait, that's right. they seem to think that is advanced as well.

  • I want to try this trick but if I'm just an Amature then would it be possable that I would end up with a broken ankle?

  • @amuletspade131415 no. just try out small, then, as u practice more, grradually make the jump bigger.

  • first of all, that is NOT advanced. he also left out several important details.

  • at our ice rink we leave our leg out longer be4 we jump , and if we didnt do that we failed :)

  • a bunny hop isn't a proper jump and we call this jump a 3 jump too! and it's well the easiest

  • @showgrrl69 I don't know I just noticed it because of your comment :) but it looks like he dosen't know about it lol :D

  • I just learned how to do that... It is my 1st jump! Im also learning a toe loop:-)

  • wow that sounds scratchy, how cut up was the ice?!

  • waltz jump is easy. salchow is hard x.x

  • umm i dont think the waltz jump would be classified as an advanced skating jump. besides the bunny hop, its usually the first jump people learn. lol, im at about freestyle 3/4, and my coach still makes me practice it :)

  • umm i dont think a waltz jump would be classified as an advanced skating jump. an AXEL would be classified as an advanced jump. besides the bunny hop, the waltz jump is usually the first jump that people learn.

  • Wow I'm a level 7-8 skater and I know that as a backwards Walsh jump

  • its hard bunny hop

  • What in the world is sticking out of the back of his neck?

  • @showgrrl69 LOVE how completely irrelevant that comment was to the video :P I think it's like the back of his tag, or the microphone or something

  • I can do that but I'm on basic 6... A subsitute teacher taught me it. My regular teacher tells me to do it forward but I told him that I can't do it but he doesn't listen..

  • I skate for 2 months, and i tried this yesterday, it was the first time to try it, and my friend told me that i did it totally correct, until the third time i tried it when i fell off with my elbows, they still hurt:P

  • he dragged his toe pick way too much after the landing

  • @TheOblivionfan123 I KNOW RIGHT!! i noticed tht i was hearing the sound of it so

  • @TheOblivionfan123 - he actually didn't ...

  • i always take off my skating forward???? thats how they taught it to me... whatever

  • fart

  • Advanced? ... I learned how to do that when I was eight... Wow.

  • It was good but I usually get alot higher in the air.

  • cant you go forward and do it? does it have to be backwards?

  • @XOMaybeSo you can do a standing one where you start facing forward, but you get more momentum from your back crossovers

  • he makes it look so easyyyy

  • His backward crossovers leave him bobbing up and down. Is the whole point of sliding your foot across rather than lifting to avoid this? My coach is nearly 64 years old, and i reckon that if he made a youtube channel with all the jumps and moves on it, it would be the better than any video i have seen on youtube so far for them. Although at 63 or something he can no longer do as much as before :L But at his peak he was doing triple axels and competing at a high level...

  • i do this all the time in my kitchen

next time i go ice skating im gna try iy =)

  • shut up simone fisher.

  • im also in freestyle 1, i learned this today, i fell alot, but it was worth it, actually not too hard. but something to practice on.

  • @ahrawrz u learnt it in freestyle 1 ? woah there teaching it to me in intermiate 1&2

  • @ahrawrz u learnt it in freestyle 1 ? woah there teaching it to me in intermiate 1&2 lol

  • I'm in freestyle 1 sooo easy

  • agree!! it should been called easy ice skating jumps

  • haha i passed that move at my last ice skating lesson(: took me only 2 minutes haha :D

  • wow thats horrible ice or horrible blades if you hear the screeching of your blade on the ice. LAMEEEEE!

  • HAHAHA!

    LIKE I CAN DO THAT!

  • what's on the neck (at the back) of the one who demonstrated the jump? if it is the "rope" of the I.D., why is it staying up...

  • IM SOOOOO STRESSED i cant do this stupid jump! im in freestyle 2 and im in a show soon and i have to do a scratch spin and waltz jump and it like doesnt work i cant jump off my toe pick! any advice? pleaseee :O

  • @Cheybabyxo3 freestyle 1 *

  • @Cheybabyxo3 im in freeskate 1 and i can do a waltz jump very easily. just try not to get to forward and try to spring ur leg up high so you can turn and land on a bent knee. it just takes some practice and when ur able to do it, its pretty fun

  • @RainshineMAW thanks for the help! i actually got it a few weeks ago i was so happy (: sometimes i still dont get it but most of the time i do and its fun :D but i failed my scratch spin and now im still in freestyle 1!

  • wow even the fat guy can do that!!!

  • i learned this jump in pre frestyle and now i am doing double salchows and sit spins and things like that

  • its one of the only jumps i can do- i can also stay on one foot while jumpign from forward to backward and i can do a two foot full roatai0on in the air- sounds cooler than it really is :P

  • ok is this a jump at all what i do is a i pick up speed going front words but insted i dont go left at all i start with my right foot and go right then jump lie he did and then land on my left foot but i go right and leap of my right foot am i doing it right or is this just a diffren jump im doing HELP because i dont want to change direction now :(

  • @bubblesbugluv777 your not doing your jump wrong just diffren it's easy to do it to the right for some people,or left like me I can do it both ways but it's much easier for me to go left^^

  • 0:36

  • we call it a 3 jump

  • Yeah we call it a 3 Jump, it's in level 10 for us. Luckily not as tricky as the rest. Spiral (check) Spin.. :/ And figure of 8 back and forwards.

  • @SparkieShuffler I also call it a 3 jump

  • @SparkieShuffler I also call it a 3 jump

  • @SparkieShuffler well that's cool but it's actually called the Waltz Jump...

  • @votetropicana well in england it's a three jump it even says it on my passport and on NISA? damn...

  • @SparkieShuffler Yupp. We also call a "toe loop" a "cherry flip", though I think that's because the official name changed.

  • Wow, this is advanced? i learnt this when i was like 6.

  • @beccabear54 HHAHAHAAHAH SAME HERE

  • same here too!

  • o.O this jump is suppsed to be advanced? it's the first jump you learn (after bunny hop, but that's not a jump =.=) wow.

  • I figured this jump out on my own, I don't even take lessons in figure skating. I even didn't know it was a waltz jump.

  • It has nothing to do with "figuring it out". It's all about the form of the take-off, when your in the air, and the landing of the jump. In which you can then do multiple rotations in the air if your form is correct.

  • amature village!

  • strang er strong

  • thats advanced?????????????? i learned that a while ago

  • what is the jump that is like a waltz jump, but it is going forward from a forwards glide?

  • easy jump EVER! haha(:

  • are u suppost to jump off the toe pick?

  • jupp, the toepick is the last thing that leaves the ice

  • yer i was told you can do it from back crossovers or mohawk

  • I love the sound the skates make on ice :)

  • i cant believe this is for advanced figure skating, im in level 9 figure skating which is considered senior a for where i do it, and i learned how to do it in level 4

  • haha me too lol(: i feel so advanced watching this :P

  • My all time favorite move,

    not the easiest though,

not that its hard, but everyone says its the easiest.

    BUNNY HOP!

    is the easiest (:

  • oh goshh i love the bunny hop

the only thing i hate about it, is sumtimes i tend to trip on my other toe pick wen i land and then i trip and fall on my face... ouchh

  • @kieracrimescene i agree:DD

  • @kieracrimescene I always feel like I'm losing my balance on the bunny hop lol

  • We were working on this in class the other day. It is really hard for me... I can't even do a bunny hop!

  • to do a bunny hop is easy when you start right arm front, left in back so, you start by skating, then kick your right leg up , and with your left leg push with your toe pick and land on your left leg with your right leg out. thats a bunny hop.

  • i FINALLY got my waltz jump today...it is very simple, but forward facing jumps are just so scary to me that i've been putting if off for three years!

  • really?

that's funny because backwards scare me. haha doing anything from back crossovers scares me haha

  • The waltz jump is soooo easy, its basically just a step, but remeber if want it too look sophisticated and hard to others you have to get length and height by having stong and bendy knees and by skating fast.

  • But how do you turn to skate backwards do you need to do it as quick as you can

  • u do it from a mohawk, and not quickly, but nice and controlled

  • Comment removed

  • i love the waltz jump but my fav i the flip

  • that is a three jump *-*

  • Strong + Straight = Streng

  • that's a three jump. -.-

  • heyy, i had like 5 classes and i was taugh today, im sure it's a waltz but i don't think it's too advanced, of course its not that easy! (at least for me :P )

  • i learned by going backwards, turning with ur right leg out, jumping and switching 2 backwards. its a really simple jump and far far far from being considered advanced! its totally fun tho. kinda like a salcow only without the 3 turn and backwards launch plus its a half rotation

  • you don't use your toepick. This is a pretty easy jump, people are making it look harder than it is.

  • yeah you do use the toepick. you have to jump off of it and then land on it and then go into the landing position

  • yay.. i can do this jump! But we call it a three jump.. hehe.. that man is funny.. hehe

  • thats not advanced.... advanced is triple toe loop. thats advanced. but nice video.

  • I learned how to do this today :)

  • um... this is advanced? What's standard? This is the first jump i learned... I learned it as a beta...=/

  • can somebody help me with this jump?!?!

my ice skating coach is telling me to jump from my toe pick, is this right? because i can do this jump by NOT using my toe pick, is it alright that i do it like this?

    x

  • No, this is not a toe-assisted jump. Jump without using your toe-pick. Your coach is, for some reason, telling you wrong. Sounds like its time to find a new coach if the current one doesn't even know basic technique for one of the most basic jumps.

  • Yeah... Don't use your toe pick!

  • Comment removed

  • i was always taught to do it by sort of kicking up and ure heel should come up and launch you into the air when you do that, hard to explain

  • My coach taught me to launch from your toepick. In other words the last thing leaving the ice is the left toepick as your other leg swings through. Don't know if thats correct, but thats what I was taught.

  • You're always supposed to jump off and land on your toepick, it gives you more height when you're jumping off of it.

  • thats advanced? no offence but that was like the 2nd jump i learned, but great video

  • do you HAVE to jump off of your left outside edge?

  • I am in figure skating and i can do this. i find this move very graceful and awsome

  • It looks so easy! But I tried today and it's really hard. I have so many respect for the people who CAN do this!!!

  • ha...advnaced skating jump!?...yeah right...it's like the first thing I learned lol

  • you call that an advanced move? I learned that as an alpha!

  • whats on his neck?

  • wow ya i wouldnt call these advanced at all

  • wat's the difference between the waltz hump and the axel jump?!? arent they the same concept?!? plz help!!

  • waltz jump doesnt make a full rotation its half unlike and axel jump. However, they are similar in concept and learning a waltz jump wil help you to reach you axel jump.

  • oh and im trying to get of the wall. and i learned it tonight.

  • im learning it now my sister is teaching me it and i still hang on the wall. but, i can go fast and land in a spiral postion

  • I love the waltz jump right now i'm learning how to do the flip jump

  • he's much better at explaining it than that other girl

  • Isnt that the 3 jump? or is the waltz just the fanxy name for it? lol

  • yea same thing lol

  • advanced? what world are u living in tripple and double are advaced

  • I agree,

But this series starts with a 2 foot glide, so really this is pretty advanced...lol

  • i'm learning how to do a toe loop and salchow. I know how to do the waltz jump, but i cant keep my leg straight when i jump :[

  • my teacher always has to tell me to bend my legs, unless you mean comming out of it and the foot that's in the air. cuz yeah tht one is supposed to be straight, which is harder

  • looks like the opposite of a haf loop

  • it doesn't at all..

  • easy, landed it within my first week of lessons

  • hurm...if only the ice arena that we have is not full of people....it will be a total embarrassment to me to fall down...but hey...then again....i only went there once...and i fell down a lot of time...since its my first skating experience...i fell in love with it since

  • i think that thing in his neck is a cord from the ceiling so if he falls he will still be supported ... maybe??

  • very nice!

  • Am I being blonde or is this the same as a free jump? Thats what they seem to call it in Norwich and I've learnt it from watching others at the rink I've only had a few lessons. Whats the best one to try after this one? I'd appreciate any advice as I've only been skating a couple of months but really enjoy it and have just passed the grades required to join NISA.

  • looks like a 3 jump

  • it is called a 3 jump. also known as a waltzx jump

  • Comment removed

  • again, not hard. IT"S NOT ADVANCED> i learned that my first year of skateing. and he is a bad teacher. it's easy 3 back wards crossovers then step out 3 turn and hop to the opposit side easy peasy

  • I think they called it "advanced" so that people who've never been on ice wouldn't go and break their necks trying it, lol. If it were called "easy," I'll bet people would.

  • ok. i get it. lol. But they put it up their with double jumps. So...

  • this jump is sooooo easy that old man can do it:::how the heck is that an "advanced" skating jump....advanced would be a triple lutz or axel....what arn't they going to do the NEW EPISODES OF WHAT? HALF FLIPS HALF LUTZ...why don't they teach you how to stop onto the ice thats something people should learn how to do

  • haha

  • Oh my goodness sunblades, or well clearwater ice arena now, i had no idea they were doing the youtube thing.

  • Good explanation! I think he needs to tuck in his tag in his shirt.

  • what's in his neck?

  • It would help if he pointed out the three-turn entry...

  • Well, it's advanced for me!! I'm only in pre-alpha, but I try little things that I see on youtube whenever I can. I just landed my first waltz jump yesterday!!! I've never jumped before, so I'm still geeked from it.

On that note, is there a vid for getting rid of advanced soreness? lol
