great review now until you mentioned it, the line when Chucky says "i got a date with a 6 year old kid" doesn't sound right at all but yeah Child's Play 1 is completley under rated.
Tom Holland is AWESOME!!!! I love this film. It scared the shit out of me when I was a kid and its still fun to watch today. Thats the way childs play was ment to be seen...nasty ole VHS. The bluray come out 9/15/09. Im pumped!
Nice, haha. Yeah, I'll probably get the new DVD release if I see it again. I could at least use a DVD. I think this VHS is gonna crap out on me soon, haha.
I would love to do up Happy Birthday To Me, and I think I'll try and snag it when the new DVD release comes out. I've never seen it, but it's been recommended many times.
Big time. Around Halloween 2007 Space was showing all the "Chucky" films non-frigging-stop and I got to catch the second and third ones again after not seeing them for some time. The first three remain a good watch, but after that it got unbearable.
Also Space made me not want to watch these movies for some time because they played them like every freakin' weekend and there wasn't much to do in western Manitoba, haha.
I really like Child's Play. I'm a fan of the whole series really. IMO 3 out of the 5 films are really good. For me the 1st, then Bride (yes I really like that movie), then 2 are really freaking cool. Then there is Seed and 3 in my rankings which are... an ok watch if nothing else is on and you haven't seen em inn a while.
I can't remember Bride that well and I had Seed in my possession completely for free once and didn't watch it, haha. I'm thinking about getting the box set of the last four films, though, and I'll give it a watch if I do.
Thanks for that link to the Tom Holland's commentary. I first thought that like Steve Miner for his Friday the 13th movies, he just did not want to talk about his involvement anymore. About the remake, even if it involves the same creator and producer, what i think about it for now is : Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! (And a remake for Poltergeist too?)
Rockin' the 'GTA IV' hat, eh, RyHo? Ha ha, well, I have to say that I also really enjoy this film and the suspense scenes always seem to make me jump, no matter how many times I've seen them, ha ha. I liked 'CP 2' and 'CP 3' was alright, but I've never even seen 'Bride...' or 'Seed of Chucky.' Believe it or not, there was another film that was modeled after this one called 'Pinocchio's Revenge,' but I heard it was nowhere near as good. Thanks for reviewing such a great film, buddy. God bless.
Haha, yeah. I got the GTA IV hat when I bought the game, but I hated it and ended up selling it, lol. Kept the hat, though!
I think I've seen Pinocchio's Revenge yeeeears ago! I'll have to check it out again and make sure, but I can easily picture the VHS cover in my head. I'm fairly certain I've seen it.
My feelings exactly on the voodoo guy in the movie, he obviously doesn't screen his voodoo teaching clientel very well!?!?hahaha Man, I haven't watch child's play in a real long time. I remember seeing it at the movies not expecting much, but being very surprised at the results!haha A good one ryho!
thanks so much for the review..this movie really is unintentionally funny at some points obviously with the 6 year old date line lol but it does create some suspense and is a real good horror movie..thanks again for taking my request great review and the old VHS copy looks great lol
Hehe Wormtail. I'd like to see Brad Dourif as that :D

I did enjoy this film when I was little, and thanks to you I must watch this again haha ;)
You going to review Happy Birthday To Me anytime soon?(maybe when it is your birthday hehe)
I watched it not long ago again and it has quite a good plot, good death kills and a nice ending.

I really love this film, and I watched it and the second one countless times growing up. In fact the copy I had was on betamax. lol.
After the third movie, the series stopped being creepy and fun, and became stupid and painful to even watch. Too bad.

Whatever film is out there with even the slightest fan following will get the remake treatment at some point. I'm waiting for a remake of Orca, lol.

what are your thoughts on the remake
garymonay 2 years ago
Its def got potential since it wont be CGI and the series needs a serious reboot after those god awful Bride&Seed sequels

Haha, no problemo, man. Thank you for all the support!
