  • I agree with the comments about Peggy. He must be one of the finest bass players around, I play bass myself and have watched him countless times. Of course being proficient at other instruments helps him. And yes, he is great to chat to when you see him out having a fag before the gig, and for one so talented he is modest and unassuming. Having seen him on the Peggy and PJ Wright tour, I can also tell you that he would make a fantastic after-dinner speaker- but not at a vicars' convention!

  • Re Dave Pegg - stunning player (try playing those jigs on a guitar, let alone the bass ), whilst simultaneously, at that time, trying to fit in his Tull commitments..... and if you've hung around the bar after a Fairport gig (or gone out for a fag during the interval) you'll know he's a top geezer too. and Re Dave Swarbrick - one of the most relaxed and natural musicians I've ever seen. I love Ric Sanders playing too, but it's just different.

  • Swarb was a lot of fun to watch!

  • Facial hair ruins every man but Dave Swarbrick was my first unobtainable love. When he had longish hair and was clean-shaven ... oh! Elfin! So sexy! And a great musician but that was secondary for me in the seventies.

  • ... have you noticed how it all goes a bit crap whenever Swarb stops playing ..?

  • Ah yes, the eighties, when British folk sported that ultra-traditional bearded, base ball hat wearing californitanned look!! Great clip though. And I join the chorus of praise for Swarbrick.

  • I'm always amazed when I see Swarb next to the other guys; he's such a small man. His talent always makes me think he should stand ten feet tall. Not that the rest of them are slouches by any means - they're all awsome, but...

  • Great song from their best album!!!

    *****

  • Come on, you guys, asking for tabs, tabs is for learners. Learn how to play by ear !

I've been volunteered to be one of the accompanying musicians for some young guy doing his music exam, and he wants us to play "Dirty Linen" with him - for an exam !

    And WE haven't got tabs.

  • Can't believe how young Simon Nichol looks

  • Wow- watch how loose Dave's bow hand is!!

  • two drummers the other being Bruce Rowland.....I think ?

  • It is.

  • The band let me videotape a concert in Philadelphia in 1990, then I took the trip from the US to Cropredy in 1991--the latter one of the fondest memories of my life. This is an awesome performance--kind of a dream Fairport except there's no RT or, sadly, Sandy. I love how DM always looks so nonchalant behind those drums! Thanks for posting this!

  • Tight!

  • geile version! da geht die post ab!!!!

  • I dont think Dave Pegg is ever really given the credit he deserves in the list of great bass guitarists.

  • He is playing with Tull.. say no more

  • Think you're right there.

Saw him guest with tull last year...........a good night

  • @scappleby - has anyone of that crew ever got the credit due to them? High time we stand up and shout.

  • Depend whose list you look at - He's always been top of my list

  • depends whose list you look at - he's been top of mine for many years

  • Dave Swarbrick--the best!

  • Whoa...love the Fotheringay involvement...and you can't beat Mattoxs' groove - rock on you guys!!

  • anyone mind tabbing the bass?

    lol!

    reply if you do.

  • I second that request!!!

  • i third that request

  • I wish someone would tab the damned guitar! It's kind of hard to learn the reels that Richard Thompson played back in '69 when no one else can play them! Jerry can, but I don't see him sitting down to tab them out.

  • Wow thanks again folkrocker!:0)
