i need help!! please.....when i click option 2 when i am booting from the usb device i get this error...."Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."....any soulution??

@xAGKxBUDDHAx Hi.I am no super expert in these things but as I read, it might be because of this:

1 - The default value from boot section ( BOOT LOADER ) of boot.ini file is missing or it is not valid.

2 - Windows XP is not installed in the specified location in the boot.ini file.

3 - The Ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or damaged

4 - The partition path in the boot.ini file is not set correctly.

5 - General hardware failure.

This I found on microsoft support site wich I'll post it in a PM.

@adamgm10 What do you mean by that?The usb once inserted won't be recognised and passes by?I had the same problem with my 1 gb Philips but I restared it over and over and inserted the usb stick a few swconds after Ip ress the restart button.Also make sure you make primary boot set on usb.

so my computers a Dell Dimension 4500 a piece of crap it currently has XP on it CD Drives are busted so I tried doin this to reinstall it and I made a bootable USB drive and it works on my bros PC and im about to test it again on another friend's laptop what happens on mine is it runs great and all then I get to pick run step one or two of XP Installation so I run Step one it starts Installing and such fine but then out of no where I get Blue Screen of Death anyone think they can help?

@LeGiiTxDoUbLeRaInBoW This is for those that need or want to install windows xp on a computer via usb port.Usually people that have a mini laptop that came without a cd/dvd rom and don't like the OS want to do this kind of instalation but those who had their cd/dvd rom broken too.I don't know much about winn32.exe, I read it's not a core component, more, it's a RATEGA virus I think.Go figure :)

dude pls help me i made everything but when i click on 2 and choose my usb flash drive .It says " F: Has not Fat FAT32 or NTFS format and is not valid " I already format the F in FAT32 and when i go to properties its says that it is in FAT32 format

P.S the Flash drive is 4gb

@kateferer I don't know for sure.Once your pirated cd was registered on Microsoft by the owner I guess you can't.When you try to update they check your license and they put an annoying icon on desktop wich changes the desktop picture.This I guess you know that already.I disable the update feature from Control Panel anyway.

@abcdefeisal After PET formatting I went to the XP CD and selected the ROOT folder - XPPC (Corp) - i386 .I have a 9IN1 CD.If you have only one thing you should go ROOT - i386.So is important to select i386 folder ( but don't open it, that's the last one to be marked )

@XxNYJTSNip3rxX Ussualy I press F12 and the boot menu comes up, I choose USB FDD and then press enter and the already bootable USB stick starts to run and I see my 9 in 1 Windows XP Professional, ready to install.You see, the name of the video actually means: "How To make Bootable USB" and I think you're trying to start your computer from an USB, exactly as others start their computer from a bootable CD by making it primary boot.Well, try to make your USB primary boot and give it a try.

Oh boy, I've done this long time ago :)) Press F12 and try to boot from USB HDD.Your main hard disk has to be second.I made this tutorial waching like you, other vid.That guy explains it better as he films himself.His nickname is "mobilephone2003" and the name of the vis is "Installing Windows XP on a Netbook Via USB (Acer Aspire One)" - He explains your proble at the 17th minute.Good luck.

@98habenana When I installed that on a Toshiba Laptop, for a girl, she was happy to see a fresh installed copy of XP as the dvd rom was broken so I never tried to solve that.I do not know if it's possible or not.I'd look on the youtube or google it or ask mobilephone2003.I'll try to look myself, but now I'm busy making my PC boot from usb ( getting a J_ error) and they say it's an issue with motherboard biios versus USB booting.Tried PLop Boot Manager (replaces bios work).I'm learning steps too.

@98habenana Hello again.I just finished my problem and I found ( I think ) , how to solve your problem: Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced ( go down to the last one) - Start up and Recovery - Settings - Time to display list of operating systems - make it fo 0 seconds instead of 30 seconds.Also, if you look down those 30 seconds, you'll see an Edit tab - when pressed, it will pop up the boot.ini.There, you probably could erase the usb command if exists ( if you aren't expert,i don't advise)

I tried to make my new hard disk work on my laptop, It says that no hard disk has been found while booting. It says something about checking a cable. I dont have the OS Windows XP cd with me. I have backed it up on my external drive though. So, please, tell me what I am doing wrong.

@elkintobitle did u install it in the bios first. first detect it in the bios first then u should be able to use your new hard drive. Because any computer needs a primary hard drive to run all other hard drives. then all other hard drives would then then become secondary. even if u want to run an external hard drive the all use either usb cables or sata external cables u still must have a master hard drive detected in the bios. so i hope this helps u.

Well, try another usb stick as test and see if that's working or not.If it does, it means your stick has some problems.If it doesn't, it's beyound me.Might be aome problems on your pc, I don't know.
