Plastic surgery shouldnt have been made available for public unless the patient's face is severely damaged by accidents. The possibility to make oneself prettier and the pressure by the society to women to look pretty are making it worse for women. I am a not good looking woman and I do feel the pressure. It confuses me whether to beautify myself or not because the effort of beautifying myself is so high that I need to sacrifice my time, energy and money to do other more important things.
People bash others for getting surgery etc.. but cruel reality is that few in society really look at inner beauty. I'm surrounded by those who make fun of the bigger ones, not so good looking ones. That's what really forced these people to want to change. And they really went through a lot of suffering. So let it be, whether they want to do surgery or not :) it's their life anyway~~

@liduation But overall the number of girls that get major PS fixups in Korea isn't as big as it's exaggerated in the media. Most usually go through minor fixups and I'll assume that pretty girls that feel like they need PS is the same as saying guys feel like they need to get better computers and graphic cards for their games, even with the latest models.

But any Korean living in NZ that wants to do PS would usually fly over to Korea during the summer or winter holiday breaks - plastic surgery is also considerably cheaper and more affordable in Korea, not to mention doctors specializing in it are actually quite well-trained in it (you'll notice that more Korean celebs that went under the knife look a lot more 'natural' than their Chinese and Japanese counterparts) by world standards.

most people in korea don't redo their whole face, my mom only had double eye-lid surgery. that's mostly what everyone does. But there are some that do plastic surgery on their noses and change their face shape. Its probably true that 95% of celebrities do plastic surgery, but probably minimal, like double eye lid surgery and maybe the nose, but celebrities get critisized for getting any major work done on their face.

@liduation But overall the number of girls that get major PS fixups in Korea isn't as big as it's exaggerated in the media. Most usually go through minor fixups and I'll assume that pretty girls that feel like they need PS is the same as saying guys feel like they need to get better computers and graphic cards for their games, even with the latest models.

@liduation How many people do PS in NZ, i don't know. But any Korean living in NZ that wants to do PS would usually fly over to Korea during the summer or winter holiday breaks - plastic surgery is also considerably cheaper and more affordable in Korea, not to mention doctors specializing in it are actually quite well-trained in it (you'll notice that more Korean celebs that went under the knife look a lot more 'natural' than their Chinese and Japanese counterparts) by world standards.

well...South Koreans are naturally vain because it's in their society and culture to be. Try sociology and anthropology ^_^ history tells us that koreans had high standards for beauty and if they couldn't keep up with this standard, they'd do anything to get it! :D i'm not being racist, but if you visited S. Korea, then go to N. Korea, you'd see a dramatic difference in both cultures...and they're both korean ._. btw i don't support people who deny tha't they did plastic surgery..why hide it? xD

@Lumeniaur It usually leaves a lot of room for criticism, fingers pointing out and the such, even amongst Koreans, apparently. My ex went through that kind of ordeal when she had plastic surgery some months ago - she almost regretted doing the surgery itself until she stood up against the ones who spread the news like wildfire. I may be her ex, but she's still a good person (minus her foul mouth XD) and a brilliant friend to be with ;)

@purplydreamz , I think this girl looks much better afterward, but it is her choice. Many koreans do it and not jsut her . In south korea, it is a place where most korean women 35 and under from year 2003 had plastic surgery. She need to do it to be competitive in the job market and mate selection. In south korea no one care about ugly faces, but they want pretty faces which is mostly made from S. Korean's plastic surgeon's hands. Koreans don't look koeran anymore. They look very different.

I dun see why people are always putting those who went for plastic surgery. They may be insecure about themselves (maybe Body dysmorphic disorder), but the fact that they had so much determination, willing to go through so much to attain that beauty, is pretty applaudable imo. For me, I wouldn't dare, because of the pain and risk involved, but they are willing, so why should they be criticised. Like someone mentioned, maybe people are just sour graping coz money can exchange for beauty.

Actually, we can easily get double eyelid-tape in japanese shops. when I traveled to japan I saw various types of double eye-lid tape. you think it is ashame, too? I think double- eyelid tape was created from mind of wannabe whites.

most people in korea don't redo their whole face, my mom only had double eye-lid surgery. that's mostly what everyone does. But there are some that do plastic surgery on their noses and change their face shape. Its probably true that 95% of celebrities do plastic surgery, but probably minimal, like double eye lid surgery and maybe the nose, but celebrities get critisized for getting any major work done on their face.
