What is all this "pound-for-pound" stuff everyone talks about when referring to Dynamite's working skills? Being big doesn't make you a better storyteller in the ring. That's like saying "pound-for-pound" Steven Spielberg is the best director in the world...
Chris Benoit and Davey Richards, two men who not only loved professional wrestling but also embraced it as their entire lives, both idolized the Kid, which should say a lot about the man.
Love how explosive DK was in the ring. He had a bad reputation for hurting people in the ring, though. I still wouldn't wish his current sad state on him.
@TheSuicidalDragon Also he had back surgary and was told after that he can't ever wrestle again, but he ignored his Doctors and went straight back to Japan.
Great athlete and way ahead of his time, but just like he case with Jimmy Snuka, I can't believe how much of a fucked up human being he was. (FYI, Jimmy Snuka killed his girlfriend while coked up and got let off the hook, you can find the police statements online, just a few click's on Google).
Dynamite Kid is one of the biggest lies the IWC has ever created. He's an okay worker, and he wrestled fast paced matches. However, he wasn't revolutionary, Tatsumi Fujinami, Kengo Kimura, and Steve Keirn were wrestling his style of matches better than him, years before Dynamite even got to New Japan.
@1robdougherty You mean while Dynamite was mastering it in Calgary or back when he carried the London promotion on his back as a teenager. Fujinami was great too but you actually think that Skinner was in their league? Keirn only looked fast because he was compared to a broken down Graham and a fat Rhodes.
@nathanburns Name me good Dynamite Kid matches from New Japan. His matches vs Tiger Mask were so poorly structured, all they look like are modern day Indy matches. Go back and watch them, they aren't any good.
@1robdougherty He was doing great stuff in stampede before he got to New Japan. How can you deny the fact that his matches with Tiger Mask(Sayama) haven't been practically a blueprint for many cruiserweights to this day. I can respect you thinking he is overrated, but a lot of people in the business will tell you in the ring he was great. Overly stiff perhaps, but still great. Out of the ring he was a jerk. Plus I think a lot of guys respected that he was legit tough & could shoot if needed.
Thank you for making this! You know you can ask many legends who their favorite wrestler and matches they were in and they have or will say against Dynamite Kid. Very underrated he is!
Man you can really tell that he trained Chris Benoit. The hooking clothesline are practically the same, the diving headbutt, the snap suplex. But I wonder if DK trained benoit in stu hart's dungeon because i was always told he trained there.
@tOugE100 DK Didn't train him, benoit just looked up to him and learned his style from watchin him. He only wrestled him once before he retired from his injuries so he couldnt train him.......would of been good if they had a few tag matches though wouldnt it?? can you imagine, theyd of complimented eachothers style
@oregonian1997 : Rey Mysterio was a teenager back when Dynamite Kid wrestled. It's not him , and these Japanese wrestlers are from AJPW (ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING).
I remember DK once snap suplexing the 300 something Barry Darsow (Known as Smash at the time) and Ventura who was commentating went "WOW, I bet the Kid can snap suplex ANYONE!". Very cool comment from a cool customer.
Kid is one of the best ever seen, and its a damn shame he had that mysterious falling out (keep reading diff stories) with his couz. Guess Kid had the last laugh tho, he was the one who introduced Davey Boy to steroids............
i couldnt agree more with the DK and Davey Richards comparison. Both in look, build, aggression and style. Cant wait to see what they do with Richards in ROH becasue he would make a great heavyweight champ
I'm gifted in the sense that I have an incredibly good memory when I set myself to remembering something. I can honestly find a match I want to use, and can almost always pinpoint exactly where the move I'm looking for is.

I recommend his book "Pure Dynamite".

Much better than the other top 10 of him, at least this one has a Superplex. Credit to him for inventing it.(Look at my name)
Speaking of Not knowing Wrestlers, how much do you know about the people you do top 10's on?
I was just wondering because, you do top 10's from just about every Era and Arena in Wrestling History, There's just so much to know.
