Hello, esta navaja es de mis favoritas, gracias por compartir y asi ver una vez mas esta estupenda pieza que no tiene que faltar en ninguna colleccion. ok.
Nice review...I'm selling my month old SNG DGG if you know anyone that's interested. It's black with Dual Gunner Grip, and is in excellent condition. The blade edge has not touched any surface, and there is no blade play in any direction. Love the knife but want to get the SMF and can't afford both.
Awesome knife...love my Striders. I got "Mongo Meat-Puppet hands" so I prefer the SMF size. And I love tiger stripes...to each there own right.
I am impressed by the close-up feature of your camera! OUTSTANDING! I use a Flip Mino HD and more currently the new Flip Slide...I guess I'll have to buy another camera if I ever want to do a macro video.
The durability of the frame lock doesn't mean that the lock can't slips off the blade. It's basically a thick liner lock. The shape and angle of back of the blade where it meets the lock is more important than lock thickness after a certain thickness. Spyderco military is a good excample for this. Frame and liner locks are among the less secure locks. But when it's hard to disengage the lock because it sticks to the blade too much that's good. It will less likely fail.
@hantasanta BTW excellent video and an excellent knife. I have nothing against frame locks actually I love their simplicity but you have to keep it real.
@hantasanta Please check Bladeforums and Jerzee Devil and Usual Suspects Networks. There are professional knifemakers there that will give you all the free information you need on the locking systems avaliable. Creativeoutlethobbies is 100% right in that a framelock is the strongest lock out there.
hey well I just got that SNG from monkey depot. Check out my video. Question, the grind of the blade gets really steep towards the tip? The very tip wont slice paper well because of the obtuse angle, is yours like this?
Congrats on the knife purchase, glad I could help find it. All my striders have a difficult time cutting paper in the range of from the point to about 1 cm down. That doesn't bother me with these knives as I don't think the paper cut test works well for the point. Its a strong point that is going to work well heavy duty puncturing and slicing.
@CreativeOutletHobbie I think that when Mick Strider does his grinds he grinds the edge freehand using a grinding wheel. To that end you can see how the grind gets narrower towards the tip. This means that the geometry at the top is going to be broader abd thus not be able to slice so well. There's a simple solution...give your SNG a partial convexing and it will be sharper than a razor. You'll be able to shave with it afterwards..Great vid :D
The gunner grip is the same as the concealed carry, only the edges are a tad bit thinner but the GG if anything is better because u get actuall grip on these relatively thin handle knives. OH and stop pretending, everyone knows G-10 is NOT sticky , even if your knife gets hot, i dunno what ur talking about.
To get the Strider name and logo on the blade, they use a punch, rest it against the blade then hit it with a Sledgehammer! Crazy, right?
It's in their FAQ about logos that are too light and someone asked if they could be redone. The answer is no, and that's the explanation!
I have the same knife in Ranger Green. Absolutely perfect. Also, had the same lens for my Canons, but switched last year to the Nikon D3 system. Miss the Canon lenses, but the Nikons have caught up!
Expensive hobbies at that! I'm Professional Photographer, but it was a hobby first and will continue to be if there's an after.
I was at WPPI in Vegas last year. When I walked past the Nikon booth the lady saw my 1D Mark III and asked if I'd seen the new D3. I made a joke, looked at it & it blew me away! I can blow up images that were shot at 3200 or 6400 and they look great! The noise looks like film grain.
check out my website - consigliophotography (dot) com. Email me through there!
I didn't realize you used the 5D Mark II for this video. When I click HD it makes a huge difference. Absolutely beautiful! Can't believe my D3's don't have this option, but the D90's do.
Had I not switched to Nikon, I'd definitely have sold off my Canons (1D Mark III and 5D's) for this. Have they made big changes in the focus and metering system? I was never happy with my 5D's AF system. The D3's is on 100% of the time. I heard the Mark II uses a better system than the 5D...
Thanks! I like how you went into the differences between different Striders. Great info. I always thought the SNG was too bulky for EDC. But this CC one looks very good for EDC (though, as you said, I'd always be afraid of losing it).
You're macro is AWESOME! You could macro the balls on a flee (but please don't).
Quality review. Subscribed.

Do you know the bevel angle on the SNG (CC)? I'm thinking about the best approach with my Sharpmaker.

There are two P-Bronze washers, if not then you're missing one. You can always take it apart and find out.
milerman86 2 years ago
I heard that one washer is much smaller. That is why I probably couldn't see it. The knife works fine.

it's a laser acid etching technique
they use a paper with acid on it which has the company logo embossed on it.
they put it under a laser and the laser heats the acid up at the points where the embossing is.
the heated acid drops onto the blade and the laser accelirates the acid corrosion process just where the embossing is.
the blade is then diffused and cleaned.

Why is everyone reviewing Striders all f a sudden?
RichL123 2 years ago
I guess that is because Buck quits production of Strider model, and people miss it in spite of the cost.
