Oh Ardie,you do realise I was hopeful I'd done that even though I'd checked!I remember having to go to a teachers house some years back when he'd bought his kids a playstation.He rang me and said,"but I plugged it into the television,like you said!" He had not however connected it to an electrical supply,lol!

Hey G. The outsourcing is usually from India and they just read out of a manual. That's what I can't stand. It's one of the reasons why I prefer Optus or iiNet (WA company) because the techs know their way around a computer and the problem is usually fixed within 5 minutes. ;)

Hi Jen,yes that was the part that annoyed me they make it very obvious they're reading a script and you know you'll get shunted back to a tech(eventually)to a techie here.After waiting three days,I was able to tell the guy who was out front.."modem says it's down,need to turn it on at the exchange" simple!Hope you're having a good time there! <3

Out of the Five I spoke to Pete two sounded Indian and three Philopino was hard to tell.When the Telstra guy rang from out the front,told him to go to the exchange and switch it on..he did!Then the silly buggers forgot to reconfigure my modem..arrggghhhh!!!!! ;)

That isn't why you pay more, it is just because Telstra are pricks. Many ISP are outsourcing their tech support now. You should look into bit torrents Glee, they are much less virus prone.

Telstra does suck! BIG TIME! BUt in regional areas there's not a lot of choice and calling a techie in Melbourne who can't speak fluent english for some things is just as bad as getting through to India with some git who can't speak english.

No the techies are no longer techies here.hey are phone operators o/s..outsourced.hey simply ask the scripted questions and pass it on to a rep within 48 business hrs..only needed to be switched on and then they didn't know how to retrain the modem.......
