How do you change the color of the line art like that?

Is it a photoshop thing, or did you just change the hue and saturation of dark blue lines outlining different things in different layers?

Your style kinda reminds me of the G1 ponies, and, as much as i HATED the G1 ponies, your drawing is absolutaly beautiful. I couldn't love it anymore even if it was drawn in a different style. :)

Some of the higher end models of tablets do have a screen but I have one of the cheaper small models that does not have a display screen on the tablet itself.

Hey I have a question;

You said that you have a tablet that lacks an LCD screen. Is it tough to draw on one like that, or is it the same? It sounds impossibly difficult to me, drawing without seeing what I'm affecting.

Its weird at first I will admit (but then I had never used a tablet with a screen so I have no idea how different it is to use one). It took some getting used to, but really its only a matter of learning to looking at the screen as opposed to your hands as you draw.

Why do you put so many layers into it? And when do you create a new layer?

Its sort of a bad habit I have, with the to many layers. I tend to make a new layer every time I want to try something but don't want to mess up something I had on another layer. I just tend not to merge layers like I pry should.

@ShadowRaven I'm having visual design classes and my teacher is one of the greatest illustrators and concept artists i've yet witnessed,and according to him,making a lot of layers isn't AT ALL a bad habit. My tablet arrives in january,and I hope to be at least 10% as good as you when it does! Good luck and keep on drawing :D

I've been drawing for many many years. Its not just drawing for many many years that will make you a better artist though (Believe me I've seen people who draw who have not improved an ounce since they started) but that does help. Its all about practice, getting critique from others (this is one of the best things for an artist to get), looking at tutorials, and always willing to try new things. Nobody starts out good, we all sucked at drawing at one time or another.

Which tool in photoshop do you use to get the lines so neat? Are you using the brush just with a very steady hand or is this another trick of the mysterious vector tool that I have yet to master?

I just use the basic brush with a width of either 6 or 9 (depending on how thick I want the lines) I draw with a pen on a tablet, everything is freehand except for the horn which I used the pen tool so that I could get the basic shape straight.

My workplace setup? Well its pretty simple. I use Photoshop CS2 on my laptop. Which is usually in front of me on the couch as I draw with my Tablet (A Wacom Bamboo F.U.N.) on my lap.
