what light are you using? im relatively new to planted tanks and was wondering if growth depended on wattage alone or if there was a certain spectrum that the light had to emitt. thanks

ok maybe i'm just an epic failure but every time i try to grow moss i get all this fuzzy brownish black stuff growing all over it and i have to take the actual moss out so i don't have all the fungus growing in my tank.
my shrimp i bought early 2004. they have amazing talent for survival : keep your head down and happily eat shit. they ll take over the world someday mark my words.
Cool clump of moss. I tried growing some spikey moss in a 5.5 gallon but everytime it ended up coverd in algae. Just to satify my curoiusity what kind of light is that and watts? I pulled my hair out over my failed attempts.

How big is that tank 4 galons?
Oh and how many red cherry shrimps should i have in a 1 gallon tank cause im afraid if i buy a female it will give birth to many babies.
suiteangel45 2 years ago
Breeding shrimps is hard, not many succeed, even with fish. The easiest are guppy's.
omega7arts 2 years ago
@omega7arts cheery shrimps breed like rabbits aslong as the water conditions are survivable.

Wow, never knew that!
I would like some now xD Then I can sell some back to my LFS or give to friends :D
omega7arts 2 years ago
@suiteangel45 dont worry, you can easily sell the little ones for like 1dollar each

6500k spectrum is good for viewing plants I think, as it brings out the green more. A t5 bulb is good, but I'm no expert :D

Cherry red shrimp are so small. I have a 10 gal, which i'm positive is good enough for, like, 3 cherry shrimp

use fluorescent light. the wattage depends on the gallons your tank can hold. the rule is 2-3watts per gallon:>
