  • On their U.S. tour for Cellscape, they rocked this really fancy looking theremin, and I'm trying to figure out who makes it. It was really compact and futuristic looking. I remember Agata telling me at one of the shows.. anyone have any ideas?

  • man is that guitar fucking sick or what!

  • wow .

  • please please please fix the audio on this clip . only one channel , used to me stereo , now one channel only . i have been trying to post this to drum up support for mxbx .

folks freak with the mono . is there a better mxbx live clip out there? i think not , lemme know if there is !

  • looks friggin awesome.

  • nice--kind of sounds like Can filtered through King Crimson--a less steady beat would be better though....

  • Great band! I recognize Spider Snipe, Blank Page of the Blind, and Cat Brain Land, but I've never heard the first song. Please, does someone know the name?

  • Shield Your Eyes, a Beast in the Well of Your Hand from the album CellScape

  • Thanks muchly.

  • yep love these guys. they do their thing right!

  • I fell in love with the band after the first 20 seconds of my first listen to the first track of "Cell-Scape". Organized chaos at it's finest. One of the most admirable things about the band is that they are completely apathetic to what people think of them and call them. They write what they feel like writing, they play what they feel like playing. They don't conform to what the masses think is good. They play to have fun and entertain people who have an open mind.

  • The first time I heard this band I was kinda like wtf, second time, i fuckin fell in love.

  • theyre such a crazy band.<3

  • id be very surprised if Maynard "got" MB's music the first time around. tool obviously has deep respect for King Krimson,Mike Patton,Melt Banana.Tool has done the fans and the bands a favor by granting them mass exposure.writting them off in an opening band scenario is a huge display of lack of character. do yourself a favor, take a que from your idol Maynard. Why the hell would he have these bands open for him, if "they suck".just the opposite, they rule, but you wont get it at first, trust me !

  • a much more constructive use of you haters time might be to obtain some of this material and expose yourself to it in a background setting over the period of a week . i didnt care for mb at all at first but heard something very original . their newer material is MUCH more accessable than the old stuff .

  • HOLY SHIT THIS SUCKS

  • Melt-banana is rapidly becoming my favourite band.

  • I drove 200 miles to see this band alone rather than see them with Tool in my own town.

  • Melt banana are amazing, it's good to see well recorded live footage of them (most of it has terrible sound quality).

Noise rock has more in common with free jazz than it does with metal, and your right you can't compare it to metal, IT'S MUCH BETTER.

  • awesome video. i've never been to a melt-banana show but it looks like they can really pull their weight and put on an amazing live show. 5/5 from me!

  • JAPANESE- NOISE- HARDCORE !!!

  • every other band is shit.

  • good sound to land hard tricks

  • good energy

  • This is one of the best Melt Banana videos I have seen.

  • that was amazing!

  • oh ya..its called NOISE ROCK/PUNK retards

  • Melt Banana - what a truly GREAT band especially after seeing them live!!! They tired out the mosh pit for crying out loud!!! Easily puts to shame ALL heavy / black / death metal to shame...and what a true guitar virtuoso... I can't think of any guitar player that manipulates his guitar into sonic booms

  • suck seven dicks and die

  • why seven?

  • six isn't really enough. and eight is too many. Even I have trouble there.

  • just saw them at the independent in san francisco last night...ridiculous!!!! loved the show.

  • O.O thats the show i was at!!!!! damn, its a small world...

  • ..but I wouldn't like to paint it....;-P

  • i saw them live for the first time last night...best night of my entire fuckin life, though my ears are still ringing. whats the song called at 6:41?

  • The music sounds great but the vocals wreck it... too bad

  • stay in the 1970s dumbshit.

  • You're closed minded, I pitty you.

  • Very few noise-rock bands can achieve what they've done. Love this style and can listen to it all day long. That and Fantomas. Both fucking awesome. Drugs for your ears.

  • ok wtf at the vocals lmao but pretty cool stuff ;D

  • i cant stop watching melt banana videos!!!! this is the best one on youtube

  • Dangerously addictive! Awesome band, awesome song, insane!!

  • Awesome, great band.

  • jesus christ

  • Tool is pretentiousness in musical form.

Here comes the wave of angry fanboys...

  • Care to back that claim up? Do you even listen to Tool?

  • Yes. I used to listen to Lateralus and 10,000 days religiously when I was younger. I then discovered music that didn't make me yawn.

  • When you were younger? 10000 Days came out last year. How much younger could you have been?

  • Almost 2 years younger.

    Enjoy your Tool.

  • great band and nice people...

we play with them in matsumoto!

crazy gig... great video and songs!

  • I would absolutely love to go to a melt banana gig, i wouldn't fucking stop dancing and i'd scream "Free the bee!" "Spathic!" and "Flash, Cube or Eyeball" as loud as possible in between songs.

    Stag,

    X

  • I became a punk in the '70s and always preferred the British and New York sounds to California thrash. I never really liked any "thrash" band until Melt Banana (thanks John Peel). Every form of music has good in it. MB are the cream of their crop. Their music is pure genius.

  • all music is noise, just orchestrated noise, the question is whether is whether it's good noise or not... to say you dislike a band because they are 'noise' completely misses the point of all music. i'm a fan of both tool and melt banana, but for different reasons. anyway, we're here to enjoy melt banana, not listen to tool fans moaning about them, you paid to see tool, not the support band, why not just be happy that you got exposed to something different?

  • i completely agree. again, i stand corrected as Tool fan.

  • lol, it may be technical and different sounding. but enjoyable to the ear? something you can sit down and enjoy? no no no...

  • Actually there's been nights when I laid in bed with headphones and listened to Melt-Banana till I fell asleep. It's quite enjoyable to my ears:P

  • Maybe you can't.

I have their albums and listen to them regularly.

I enjoy the music very much.

  • i stand corrected then. as a concept, i can appreciate Melt Banana, as a cohesive band unit? no i cannot, i am sorry. there is just substance lacking in some area of their music. that is why i enjoy Tool so much. if you really listen to the overall sound they produce, it's a blanket of well thought out texturing that just encloses you and doesn't let go till the song or album is done. it's quite amazing. there is nothing that i can take away form the experience after listening to melt banana.

  • maybe you're into cerebral music rather than adrenal?

try ephel duath. they're good for you. pain necessary to know is a wonderful album.

  • As with the majority of good music, you have to listen to it a few times to fully apreciate it.

  • Tool still suck. :P

  • I like this music and Tool still rocks : \

  • I love Tool, and I love Melt Banana. Where's your God now?

  • Its so pathetic that Tool fans are looking up Melt-Banana videos just so they can insult the band.

The only reason you folks even know who these guys are is because they opened for Tool, anyway -.-

  • tool could'nt hold these guys/girls sushi roll. I bet the bassist could kick everyone of Tool's cheap asses...and laugh while doing so.

  • MB and Tool embrace each other because both bands make challenging, diverse and uncompromosing music, stand alone on their own merits and do things on their own terms - And that is what makes them both true artists. Anyone who can't acknowedge this and feel the need to hate on Melt Banana because they make 'NOISE' has no place listening to Tool because they adopt the exact same principles as MB. Fuck off!

  • I don't think anyone should be making that kind of generalization when I myself am a Tool fan, and I saw this band open for Tool and LOVED them. The people in the crowd who booed them suck for being so incredibly rude. Tool the band are still awesome, but I'm pretty sure the reason that their fans booed Melt banana was not because they just hated them but also because they were drunk and high. Oh well, I loved this band, and Tool still rocks. They both played a kickass show.

  • You know what I bet these guys can give 2 shits that people are booing them. I mean come on they are opening for TOOL, that's a bragging right lol! Besides I doubt TOOL would pick them if they didn't like them, people (not saying you ok) just get upset over new things that they are not used to and it right away scares them and they bag on shit so fast.

    Take care

  • yeah tool almost burst my ear drums like 20 times, but i enjoyed every second of it

  • Melt-banana music is not for everybody, maybe like 5% of the TOOL crowd. There music is to extreme to be play in arena. But it was a chance for them to be seen by a lot of people. I saw them in Boston last week, in a small club and it was a amazing show, they fucking rock!!!

By the way very nice video up there, one of the best on youtube.

Longue vie a Melt-Banana !!!............Free the bee

  • I walked into the Boardwalk Hall stoned off my ass, and this was going. I'd never heard the band before, but I must say, that was exactly what I needed at that moment. Tool sucked this time around.

  • I saw them open for Tool last night and left after their set. The Tool fans were annoying and mostly erred on the side of white trash. They weren't too hostile towards Melt-Banana, but they clearly didn't like them either. I have a feeling they were a lot more annoying when their beloved assclowns played.

  • saw them at gainesville, FL last week, drove 5 hours from miami just to see them without tool. (they opened for them in the hockey arena west of ft. lauderdale the night before) well worth it. easily the most intense show I've ever seen. yes, it's not for the average tool fan, and that's a good thing!

  • Saw them with Tool last night. It was terrible! Just a bunch of noise. I'm not being closed minded, I just think there were too many screeching guitar effects, I couldn't hear a decent rhythm pattern during the entire set and all of the instruments blended together into this very loud distorted sound. I couldn't hear the vocals at all. Most of the people around me including myself had to plug our ears because it was painful. Tool was excellent as usual.

  • Yeah, just saw them at richmond as well.

Didn't really care for it since I wasn't prepared.

But know that I got a chance to listen to them at a much quieter level my mind has changed.

    They're actually pretty good.

  • I've just started listening to them recently. The guitar work is amazing and I like the melody the vocals bring.

  • Went last night... totally amazing! A special f**k you goes out to all the closed minded idiots that booed after the Melt Banana set. Go crawl back under your rock. Tool was amazing as well... a bit droney at parts...great lighting/video show though!

  • Tool fans are dumb, closed-minded, blatant assholes who obsess, embrace, and over-analyze silly, ridiculously pretentious music, and is most likely still breast fed by their mother.

This is 100% based off of my experience at the Baltimore show. A couple of groups even fucking MOSHED to their heavily laid-backed stuff.

  • I was at the Richmond VA show. Most people were fairly well behaved there. Maynard even thanked the crowd for their behavior. Not all Tool fans are that bad. I really enjoyed Melt Banana, although I couldn't understand much of their lyrics.

  • they're japanese.

  • That show was sick... Melt Banana is the loudest band I've ever seen... that is until Tool came on. And I've been to like 200 shows

  • sir, you make me laugh.... also if you want to respond to this, respond to the user "everyoneishappy" because that is I, I am using my friends account right now.

  • Buddy, The people booing arent TOOL fans, They are Dumb fuckes, going to a TOOL concert because they will go to any concert.....Dont Judge TOOL fans. Those people arent TOOL fans

  • Melt Banana are a far better than Tool could ever hope as they explore uncharted areas of music and thay also blow away EVERY heavy / black / death metal band to shame

  • well though i've known a few japanese musicians but honestly i can never understand japanese-style music... though it sounds good... but something is missing... which i dunno how to describe... anyways nirvanaispus, i think it's way premature to compare MB with EVERY heavy/black/death metal... since i can sense you're no fan of the music...

  • Tool is so pathetic, I mean why would I or anyone waste their time listening to them or for that matter going to see one of their concerts especially if Melt Banana is going to blow them off the stage??? And lets be honest here, MB it getting noticed by other reknown artists such as Mike Patton / Fatomas, and Lou Reed and rightly so... this one band IS the future of all heavy / black / death metal as it pulverizes all

  • Wait, but MB isn't metal...Noise Rock/Punk. Yeah it blows most contemporary rock out of the water, but why are we putting it in league with metal?

  • Wait, but MB isn't metal...Noise Rock/Punk. Yeah it blows most contemporary rock out of the water, but why are we putting it in league with metal?

  • Amazing as always!

  • Going to see them headline in houston tonight - Tool sucks

  • Fuck you

  • Whoa, nice clip. Great sound. I enjoyed that. Look foward to seeing them open for Tool!!

  • Songs are as follows:

A Shield for Your Eyes, A Beast in the Well on Your Hand

    RRaGG

    Spider Snipe

    Blank Page of the Blind

    Cat Brain Land (first part)

Thank you for posting this clip!

  • Such musical chaos, and yet they're so precise live.
