Graham. Thanks for taking the time to post this video. I must have purchased 7 or 8 video cameras in the last two years and they are all crap. This Panasonic is superb without jerking and incredible quality. I do wish all the video makers would publish in one or two formats. Thanks for the feedback. The TZ7 has a lot of nice features which are often overlooked in reviews. There is, for example, the opportunity to capture 3 formats at once so you can have 4:3 for A4 prints, 16:9 to insert into your HD video and 3:2 for web images at lower resolution. Use the photofunstudio software to import and you will not have any problems editing. Enjoy
Have you loaded the photofunstudio which came with your camera, you will be able to play the files with this program, and convert them by importing to more manageable m2ts file format.
This is an exellent camera, that's just all about you can say with it. The video qaulity is amazing and the video can be upscaled to 1080p which my videos are if you check out my channel and watch my most recent videos which are a bit strange but it tests the qaulity and sound. I used a programme called "Free HD converter" from koyotesoft and it is a free programme that you can see the outcome of the qaulity with my vidoes :) 720p is awsome though anyway :)
The opening sequence is the sound right off the camera, as for the overdub - well without it apart from wind noise ther was no ambient sound, the chiff-caff bird call was the only significant sound arising from the ambience. To me the soundtrack plays an important element in the viewers overall experience of the video clip. The clip was meant to demo the video quality as this great camera, no one expects fantastic sound quality from inbuilt mike with no wind proofing or wind cut filter.
thanks for your comments, no need to get personal, I was only stating that under the filming conditions the wind blowing on that day was being picked up by the incamera mike and totally blocked out any lower signal ambient noise. In an indoor situation you are right the sound quality is good with good signal/noise ratio it's outdoor where, sadly these cameras fail. I have made wind covers from rycote material, however the placement of the mike on the camera body makes a dougil hard to attach

I'm sorry, but you don't seem to grasp the concept of 'Ambient Sound'.
And with complete lack of anticipation, you'll obviously end up thinking "there were no sounds to record" . .

The AC-3 Dolby compressed audio format comprised by the AVCHD Lite encoding makes an excellent platform for HQ. sound.
Further your claim "no one expects fantastic sound.." is simply wrong and indicates regrettable ignorance.

That really spoiled it for me ! BIG time !
I got the impression this was a TEST film ?
As a sound tech, I'd be curious on the audio performance of this compact cam. But that "mood enhancing" music ruins everything.
Music taste apart, I can't comprehend what went through your head with these "improvements".
Personally, I think Nature is created perfect - complete with both ambient and sound effects : just BEAUTIFUL to experience !
