It has its flaws if you dont have a pc capable of playing it, but if youve gotten past that part, you owe it to yourself to give this game a shot. @Zeldur94 You will be able to max it but even at max it can be demanding game because of all the extra's. I would think you would be able to run it comfortably on max for a lot of setting, just tone down the shadows and a couple dx10 options and you will be good to go.
@Unieb1 I think you will get some decent performance, but if you really max absolutely everything that the FPS won't be too great. It really depends on the resoloution of the monitor you game at too.

Then why do movies use special effects to do simple things like add more color to the image, such as god rays, and floating petals that Ridley Scott seems to like? Because we are more drawn into an image with more vibrant colors and exaggerated structures.
Watch an indie film even and they dick around with color, angles and focus to make the image more compelling and less lifelike.

yeah its amazing just really fun to play now the fps has been has been fixed i used to get 9 or 10 fps on high now im getting 30+ fps. theres barely any bugs i dont even remember the last time i had one. The PvP is great really everything is really improved. The only bad thing is the class balances but there hopfully going to fix that with 1.05.3 patch. theres a re evaluation FREE 14 days to try the game out again check it out

My specs are : Sapphire ATI HD 4870 512 mb GDDR5, intel core i7 920 quad core non-clocked at 2,7 Ghz per. core, 6 gb DDR3 ram, X58 chipset motherboard and a 750 gb samsung F1 spinpoint. With this I keep a comfertable 60 fps average. these parts (with cooling + cabinet etc) will cost you around 1000 euros, or less. Imo, it really is worth the expense.

i have Core 2 duo 2.1Ghz and 8600M GT 256MB GDDR3 and 4GB RAM. I could run medium to high with average of 30FPS.....so urs should do. but i'd recommend getting a good card. Its a shame ot have an 8600 GT on a desktop. get a 9800 GT . its real cheap these days and waaaaaaaaaaaaay faster.

I was Really suprised!!! at how fun and how much the game has inproved since last time ive played!!!. i played back when it first came out for about a month then quit because it sucked so bad it wasent even fun the content ect ect. and you could only play in dx9 :) so anyway i really like this game the idea so i decided to just start playing again. You need a beast to run this game in DX10, but i'm telling you, it's worth it. AoC in DX9 is probably the best looking DX9 title i've seen, and AoC in DX10 is beyond words.
It was mind-warpingly boring, absolutely nothing to do. Few players, no RP, equipment was totally crap, PVP virtually non-existant, crafting was bullshit, stats and skills that didn't actually do anything, broken feats and skills, no class balance (in PVP or PVE), huge level spans without quests, memory leaks, bugs, crashes, ludicrously expensive mounts, market flooded with crap because no bind of equip, etc.
Ok well, rp has improved, equipment is currently diverse, pvp has a new system with minigames which give exp, crafting has evolved a lot more, stats and skills all being revamped next patch (next week) feats no longer broken. Huge level span has been broken down with more areas to level in - better quests etc. Memory and ALL client issues have been fixed, expensive mounts are not so expensive anymore, market is doing fine now..
Well, I played AoC a little back in January, but I never made it to level 80. Only played for a few weeks, though. Do you think it's worth giving it another try? I actually did enjoy the game, it just got a little boring...
i have both aoc and wow .. got aoc colse to when it came out so unfourtunatly i was driven away by the incapacitating bugs was a pitty because the month i played aoc i enjoyed .... is it worth getting back into because i have heard the server populations are a bit of an issue these days rather than the bugs

I play this game since Beta and i just love it. It's better than WoW or something else because you got a real story in this game too. And there are less children than in WoW. The PvP is better also and PvE is more "realistic" as WoW with his low graphic

Shouldn't have a problem :). The only times for me where my FPS drops is in big cities like Old Tarantia but it's still playable and I play with literally everything on max on a 24" monitor running at 1920x1200 res. I reckon you could play on high settings depending on what resolution you have and if you use any AA.
You should have a good gaming experience on medium settings anyway =)

My problem with this game, when I played it on release, wasn't that it was buggy or anything, cause I didn't encounter anything of that, and I had a good PC, so I could play it on high settings. But the fact that the world isn't one world, but different, unlinked areas that you travel between, via NPCs turned me off badly. I didn't know that when I bought it. :P

Exactley! This game seemed so perfect. One of the things I wanted, when I stepped into Hyboria, was to travel. But that never happened. I wanted to feel that, far away beond the horison, is a place, that other people call home, and sometimes meet people, from that place, and they could tell stories from their hometown, and I could only dream of what it would be like to be there. A place that's unknown and distant to someone but home to another.

The raid content is generally not buggy anymore, and last patch saw the release of BRC wing 3 with still a couple more bosses. The performance of the DX9 client is good, but DX10 still needs some tweaking. You can test the DX10 client on live now though, as EAskate said. Today the also announced a free trial programme.
The direct X 10 version is now out on the live servers. Still as a test, but people are amazed and they sohuld be. The game is no longer so buggy that you will be really botherd. And new content is also added so the game. 3 new instances (wich is harder and funnyer) slaughterhouse cellar Xiabaluku and a new raid instance. The siege still needs some work on as it laggs a lot and can be buggy. A lot of new items are also added to the game, as for example some new cultural armore (armoresmith)
Hey there, the music is from season 4 of the new Doctor Who tv series. DX10 as a "test" is now available on the live servers now so more people can check it out from the test server. They are gathering more tech info from ppl and a bit more polish before full version goes in game - not very long now!

Generally I can only say great vid and the music in the game is fantastic. Well, worth playing the game just to experience the music it is right settings. Plus I am having a lot of fun in the game.
I am currently making another one at the moment, with the High Quality Grass (3D) and Grass Physical effects which have been added in since this 2 months ago. Things are nearly there in my opinion on test server just a few more tweaks!
DX 10 will more than anything create enhanced affects and slightly improve the texture mapping. Already a beautiful game made better!!! Cant wait for it to go live!

It will really depend on your GFX Card. To play at max settings with DX9 you will need absolutely no less than a GTX 260 or a Radeon 4850.

The new game director knows his shit. He's coming from Anarchy Online, one of the oldest and by far one of the best MMO's on the net.

nope well i couldn't with a quadcore and the 512mb version. don't get your hopes up with 512mb more videoram.

I doub. My pc specs are the same as the video guy - fps confirmed.
With your specs you would probably lag a bit because of the missing Crossfire (= SLI, but for ATI).

i have both aoc and wow .. got aoc colse to when it came out so unfourtunatly i was driven away by the incapacitating bugs was a pitty because the month i played aoc i enjoyed .... is it worth getting back into because i have heard the server populations are a bit of an issue these days rather than the bugs

I want to know too. Started on release date as well - ended up returning to WoW again. It's not fun retruning to AoC if the servers are empty.

the whole atmosphere in tjis game is awesome....and with fuckin amazing graphic its so great to play.not like this old and low graphics in wow .and the fighting is a really new feature which is great ans exiting .love aoc <333

I play this game since Beta and i just love it. It's better than WoW or something else because you got a real story in this game too. And there are less children than in WoW. The PvP is better also and PvE is more "realistic" as WoW with his low graphic

Shouldn't have a problem :). The only times for me where my FPS drops is in big cities like Old Tarantia but it's still playable and I play with literally everything on max on a 24" monitor running at 1920x1200 res. I reckon you could play on high settings depending on what resolution you have and if you use any AA.
You should have a good gaming experience on medium settings anyway =)

you will run it on high settings, I have worse computer than you and I run it on high with 16x AA with around 30 fps :)

well i resubed for 6 days ago and im so glad that i did it WHAT A GAME well i playd the game the first day it came out and i quited after 1 month because of those large bugs but thy fixed them now there is only a few small bugs and after 6 days i dont see any bug and the classes is so good now all can kill each other after this Patch thy are insetting into the game right now 13:00 server time = Paris time the patch is done HURRY UP AND RESUB AND MAKE A CHAR ON PvP SERVER FURY Heads will fall

My problem with this game, when I played it on release, wasn't that it was buggy or anything, cause I didn't encounter anything of that, and I had a good PC, so I could play it on high settings. But the fact that the world isn't one world, but different, unlinked areas that you travel between, via NPCs turned me off badly. I didn't know that when I bought it. :P

Couldn't agree more, it's what ruined it for me, I want my MMO worlds to be as seamless as possible, with zones and loading screens kept to an absolute minimum, in particular a wild and untamed world like Robert E. Howards Hyboria!

Exactley! This game seemed so perfect. One of the things I wanted, when I stepped into Hyboria, was to travel. But that never happened. I wanted to feel that, far away beond the horison, is a place, that other people call home, and sometimes meet people, from that place, and they could tell stories from their hometown, and I could only dream of what it would be like to be there. A place that's unknown and distant to someone but home to another.
I guess that's too much so ask for, but anyway.^^

The raid content is generally not buggy anymore, and last patch saw the release of BRC wing 3 with still a couple more bosses. The performance of the DX9 client is good, but DX10 still needs some tweaking. You can test the DX10 client on live now though, as EAskate said. Today the also announced a free trial programme.

The direct X 10 version is now out on the live servers. Still as a test, but people are amazed and they sohuld be. The game is no longer so buggy that you will be really botherd. And new content is also added so the game. 3 new instances (wich is harder and funnyer) slaughterhouse cellar Xiabaluku and a new raid instance. The siege still needs some work on as it laggs a lot and can be buggy. A lot of new items are also added to the game, as for example some new cultural armore (armoresmith)

Hey there, the music is from season 4 of the new Doctor Who tv series. DX10 as a "test" is now available on the live servers now so more people can check it out from the test server. They are gathering more tech info from ppl and a bit more polish before full version goes in game - not very long now!

Generally I can only say great vid and the music in the game is fantastic. Well, worth playing the game just to experience the music it is right settings. Plus I am having a lot of fun in the game.

I am currently making another one at the moment, with the High Quality Grass (3D) and Grass Physical effects which have been added in since this 2 months ago. Things are nearly there in my opinion on test server just a few more tweaks!

DX10 has done well for AoC, though I must say that LotRo DX10 renders just a bit better...
Can't wait for a vid for the new DX10 patch. Hope that'll beat LotRo DX10. If so, I'll give AoC an other try ;)

This uppdate came to test yesterday,
* Dx10Test now features high quality grass meshes and physics, and billboard type grass.
* Corrected an issue with AA and water reflection quality with ATI cards.
I am very impressed by the new patch, DX10 runs much better for me and the grass is AWESOME !!! ;)

DX 10 will more than anything create enhanced affects and slightly improve the texture mapping. Already a beautiful game made better!!! Cant wait for it to go live!
