  • people go and come from work everyday good jods busdrivers for mta some police live around nerses you name it. now you go to one of other locations and see the same shit laurelton, jamaica, flushing collage point. look around other places... farrockaway was a beautiful place still is..the people that live here takes care of it to the best it the city who is tearing it apart

  • Then move.

  • They don't pay for rent & food what do they expect, they should be thankful the city provides them with a roof over their heads! I wonder what blacky will have to say if the city just cut all of them off from welfare?

  • I worked in the Red Furn projects & its a horror show! Blacks destroy everything then they blame & point fingers on others! They complain about roaches & rats but they are sooo lazy then cant even dispose their own garbage in a proper place! They throw dirty baby diapers right out of their apartment windows & the same with their normal trash! Geeeee you think that will attract rats? Some of the apartments had so much garbage inside you couldn't even enter! Naked babies in the hall ways

  • You get what you pay for........oh, right, you didn't pay for it. How much are the rents? What does .gov pay? What are my tax dollars paying for? I will tell you. My dollars are paying for these peoples rent, while they do nothing for a living. While they drive BMW's and Mercedes, yet pay $200.00 for rent. While hard working pay $1500/$2000.00 a month. Stop your fucking bitching and make yourselves useful, for once.

  • you are not people you are animals worse than animals.

Well, get off welfare and get a job fucking worthless.................................

  • you are not people you are animals worth than animals.

  • I live close to Arverene By the Sea and I give 2 thumbs up...I've never felt so save walking that area as I have since houses took over the fences and weeds that dominated for 20+ years...Stop and Shop just opened and they have the best prices for food in the neighborhood imo...

  • Buildings in FarRockaway with cooperative shareholder tenants are repaired much faster because the money comes from the shareholders...Contractors and bids are scrutinized by an elected commitee within the coop...Perhaps a similar commitee can be organized by people in the Edgemere projects...

  • Many city funded building exterior restoration jobs are notoriously slow due to a work stoppage.Inclimate weather,(rain, snow, cold temps, etc.) can play a role in a slow down but we're talking days or weeks, not years...A job that is years behind has been stopped for a reason such as the contractor not being paid by the city/state.

  • is not lack of resources it's lack of parents being there for there kids

  • jralto26722. I happen to live in Ocean Bay Houses. I don't believe you know many, if any people in Ocean Bay because if you had, you would know that there are many hard working individuals who pay more that $250 per month for rent. My apartment for example, is $807 for rent. So tell me, if "you get what you pay for" what should I be getting for my $807? Next time, base your response on at least statistics because I can give list of those who pay the same

  • this is sickening were going thru the same in Brooklyn

  • NOTE: Our FRUA project isn't over. We're going to come back soon to Far Rock and get more info one what's going on now to follow up. Contact us if you have information which can help make the case for those who are positive and have little to no resources in the area to combat gentrification. Little do people know that the few bad apples are not the problem all by themselves. We'll get to the core of it with God's Help! Support Philip Muhammad and the F.R.U.A. project!

  • @FarRockUnderAttack I noticed the video was shot in 2008 Has there been ANY improvement since then,I do construction for living and would help in any way possible. The only think I disagree with is u said its happening in black neighborhoods, which is true but I happen to be white,Im of Italian and Jewish descent, dont let the stigma fool u Im not rich, and grew up and currently live in a housing project as well,as u said we as a PEOPLE (HUMAN Beings) need to unify please respond if you like.thanks

  • @FarRockUnderAttack , the developers want the low renters OUT so that they can put up homes with a waterfront view for Half a mil $'s . thats the plan Bloomberg has for the Rockaways , this is called the Reverse White Flight Plan . I lived in Rockaway from 1968 to 1986 , in 2002 the wife and i moved to east alabama , where I started a small business and doing well .Good Luck in your struggles , keep this in mind ,It's also happening in Harlem since Clinton moved there.

  • U GET WHAT U P AY FOR ..... IF THEY DONT LIKE IT TELL THEM NIGZ TO GET A JOB AND GET A NEW APARTMENT .........

  • Far rock is the worst hood in nyc point blank anywhere else they have to clean it up and put a good exterior on on it for the tourists Harlem South bronx brooklyn all have tourism even coney island isnt as crazy as far rock Ive been out there once or twice and got shot at and nearly robbed lucky i had a suped up Camaro at the time. I feel for the residents in those building because that's a place with no jobs and alot of negative factors all around.

  • tell these low life stop pissing in the stairs and shit and maybe the city can give a hand .... edgemere should just be shut down and mite as well make it the new queens booking smh...........

  • im from queens man this dude annoys me

  • I mean really, what do you expect, people over there paying $85 a month for a 3 bedroom apartment, not to mention welfare is actually paying it rent. You get food stamps, medicaid, cash assistance and cheap rent. You want to live good? Go to school and get a decent job and stop looking for handouts. If you hate it so much pick up and leave. Ya'll hang on corners and piss in elevators and grafitti up the hallways ands you expect someone to care about your building when you evidently don't? come on

  • First of all, you need to retract some of your statements. THERE IS NOT ONE PERSON PAYING $1000.00 IN THE NYCHA, there is a ceiling rent. You seem vet upset because they are building new homes in far rockaway? Rockaway has been home to nycha's most crime infected projects, you people out there dont even appreciate that you have a beach at your doorstep, you bitch and complain enough and the powers that be will demolish all the projects and will really have no place to go!

  • before the late 70s projects in ny are like much other apartments to live. but from the early 80s till now, it's a different story.

  • i am contemplating whether i should retire to Florida,,, or Far Rockaway................NOT !

  • Wow. I went to JHS 198 for three years from 1967-1970 and had many friends who lived in Edgemere Projects. This is such sad deterioration.

  • i live right across the street its not bad to me and im 13 even though it was a lot of shootings but they ws like at 11:00 at night

  • Man i live in hammels and i got family in ov and edgemere and its not a place to grow up....people get killed for walk with others that may be in gang.

  • i hate i hate far rockawary all thers going hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell hell

  • so ignorant -_- ppl like u go to hell not that i care mayb ..get a life?

  • Far Rockaway is flooded with gangs and it may possible that those members might have made the construction workers uncomfortable or even unsafe and they said the hell with it. Now we have to deal with it, ever think about that? If I'm doing work outside you think I need the harrassement of people cursing at you or threatening your life while doing your job, NO. It's our fault not the city.

  • Hello, you asked what happened to some of the people whom lived there. I moved out in 2000, when they sent a letter stating that we would have the option of moving to another project or taking section 8. Well I took section 8 and moved my family upstate NY into a townhouse. A year after moving I took test for county positions, within a few months I got a great job working for the county, Brought a two family house within 2 years. Whatever they thought they would be doing to me, backdfired.

  • you forgot to show all the gang members hanging out in the courtyards too. and by the way, its 250 dollars a month to live to in one of these buildings...you get what you pay for, nyc is not making a penthouse for people who pay 250 a month who are on welfare, and most of the area is flooded with gangs. stop making excuses guy the problem is within, not the city's

  • Thank you for your thoughts jrlto26522!Maybe you don't realize it but through your example here you're an excellent example of what's wrong with humanity. You would justify the mistreatment of innocent people at the hands of a few so-called gang members who if given an opportunity most would be productive human beings. We've been looking for someone like you to comment on our videos, keep commenting. Perhaps you'd be happy to see the eldery who have been set up by authorities and kicked out.

  • I agree....secondly, if you think taking the homes of a few gang-bangers will solve the gang violence problem that queens deals with you're wrong. in fact it will intensify the issue by concentrating the amount of gang members. Less projects means that the small amount of criminals will be forced to live amongst one another, therefore, you're plan will simply increase the population density of gang members, allowing them to be at arm's reach to cause violence.

  • @jralto26722 Our correspondent is not making excuses he's made a case. We have seen too much of the effect and now we need to see the cause. No resources, no community based programs for the youth, no jobs, lack of education, and support programs, etc. We don't need another video showing gangs there are millions of those, we need to focus on the real gang, the keepers of Gentrification and tactics that suck the community dry causing so-called gangs to develop due to lack of resources etc.

  • @FarRockUnderAttack jralto26722. I happen to live in Ocean Bay Houses. • @devisamac If you can pay $807 a month, you could be living in so many other parts of the city. Why would you choose to live in this warzone? That's a middle class rent. I pay less than that and live in a very safe neighborhood in Brooklyn.

  • @FarRockUnderAttack That is a humogeous flumsy excuse!!!! Most of the innocent people lived there, no matter if they're blacks, whites, latinos, asians, and etc. They do not make any difference. But, where I lived in, and comparing with (Latimer Gardens Complex). They (grown kids) who were hanging out and loitering in lobbies, letting strangers in the building which they have the authority to do so in buildings.

  • @FarRockUnderAttack, Also that I wanted to tell you is that they (grown kids) who hanged around in elevators every other night and peed on the elevator floor, harassing tenants of every kind and writing on the NYCHA property. Why bitching and pointing at bloomberg. FOOL, IT'S TIME TO GET A DECENT JOB AND DON'T BE LAZY AND GO OUT AND MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS. NO OFFENSE, BUT NYCHA IS FOR EVERYBODY, NOT JUST FOR BLACK-NIGGAS AND PUSSY BITCHES. STOP REPEATING SHIT OVER AGAIN!

  • all white ppl do is knock hoods down thinkin thats gonna stop crime...edgemere even mulford gardens in yonkers..they wanna make it look nicer..fuck them

  • Bloomberg must go!

  • We'd like to address some concerns we've received. 1st of all we are not focusing on the crime in the area in this report. This report is to address the wicked mind behind the plot of gentrification which has left the innocent in disregard. The failed policy's of government are not failing by accident, they are failing by default. The mind of "Willie Lynch" and the road that leads to "Gentrification" is at the root of the problem that has it's hand on this potentially positive community.

  • You forgot to show the crack dealers in the lobby.

  • I believe that NYC is planning on removing the project buildings in the Far Rockaway area, and they are going to re build to make it similar to what it was years ago when people came for vacationing in the Hotels and Bungalows by the beach side. Unfortunately the ones in the housing projects maybe relocated to other areas throughout NYC. Which is why there has been an increase in Building family homes and Condos, not to mention the YMCA and the Super Stop in Shop that are also in the works

  • Thank you for your comment we are aware of the cities plans, hundreds of millions have been pre-inviested in the area, re-zoning and more! We have more videos up at FarRockawayUnderAttack com
