The Macbook Air is all gimmick. I've no clue why anyone would actually choose Macbook Air over a Thinkpad. And the trackpoint is for winners. The nipple has way better control than the trackpoint.

You're complaining about getting a 1280x800 resolution on a 12 inch notebook? That's a good thing... it goes up to 2.26Ghz, offers solid state drives, Vista Basic, DDR3 ram, integrated graphics aren't the best, but that's only at 3d rendering, they're fine for anything else...

Well vista isn't too great on laptops but Microsoft only licence XP on very low end machines. Lenovo couldn't put XP on that laptop and with linux it wouldn't sell as well.

I had kept Windows XP up to a month or so ago. And while vista is way better now than I remember it being, there's simply no good reason for it to use all of the resources it does. Programs run slower here than they did on XP and I cannot do as much as I could in XP. At least the thing no longer has as many bugs. But if I didn't play videogames and would just surf the web and do every-day things on it, I would have moved to Ubuntu 100% by now.

There are a few memory hog's on Vista, this is true, but a few stick of RAM quickly takes care of that. As for Ubuntu, why not do what I do. Dual-Boot. Vista for games, Ubuntu for everything else.

I'm dual booting right now. But really, I'm missing XP which shouldn't happen. They should have just made XP Pro 64 the standard which works perfect for me. It's the best Windows 64 there is IMO. And I don't have money for more ram, specially on this computer that I'm having to use atm which uses DDR1. I'm buying 8Gigs for my main one soon (DDR2) but I just don't think there's any justification on vista for using so much ram.

Surprisingly there is very few bug's in Vista, compared to the TONS of them when Vista first came out. It should have stayed in development a bit long, but as of now, with all the updates, there is nothing wrong with it. As for limited access, there are TONS of guides on the web to turn them off, all you gotta do is use the Google.

1) DVD playback in W Medial Player/Media Center will only play in interlaced mode making it VERY ugly.

2) the "Open with" feature is gone in over 50% of the versions.

3) Minor changes in hardware will sometimes prevent Vista from booting up.
