But, you know what? If we did see the party then everyone will be bitching about did Mike Tyson get his tiger back? Did he make it to the wedding on time? Why was he red? What happened to the car?
Showing the aftermath is great. You know why? How many times have they showed the actual party and it goes awry and never see what happens after not knowing if what they did had any negative effect.
Like in Bachelor Party. Did they ever have to pay for that room they destroyed? Did Milt and the John ever find their hookers? Did they beat the guy up for having them out longer the 45 minutes? Did they have a criminal record after getting arrested?
I want to f*cking rape anyone who says that the movie was not funny. What a bunch of noobs. That was on of the best movies of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great movie. The photos are great. That's why it is rated 'R'. The point of the movie is finding the friend, not what happened at the party. If they don't remember, we like the characters, piece it together. I mean, really, the whole finding the groom the day before the wedding is genius, the bachelor party part is getting a little old. If you want to see a bachelor party, go see Tom Hanks 'Bachelor Party'.
lousy movie. not funny. it burns me when people tell me that I just want to find this movie unfunny because the popular vote says its funny. This movie was just lousy. Didn't laugh once. I laugh at everything. NOTHING was funny about this movie.
Its a damn comedy with a purposely weird plot with some fucked up situations you obviously have no sense of humor and need to appreciate the sheer stupidity of the film.
This guy don't know what he's talking about.. I found this film very funny and entertaining. Why have you got to be such a badass and put a good film down. WTF would you do if you had to bring a tiger to mike tyson's house? I would really like to know since you didnt tell us. I can't watch anymore of this guys vid's.. First I watched the reveiw of Avatar, to put it short he said it wasnt a good film, and now this film.. He needs to get a life and take a walk outside in some fresh air.

i completely agree with heatbball2, and all the others who liked the hangover. i thought it was absolutely hilarious. this was the worst review i have ever seen. this movie was funny the whole way through.
Thats was the dullest review i ever watched you have the personality of your mum. This movie is laughs al the way through Buy it watch it with friends.
I did like it-it was incredibly entertaining, the mystery was actually well done and kept my attention and the laughs were pretty good. The three mains have great chemistry, and it's not as forced and stupid as other 'frat boy' comedies I've seen.
I'll admit it's not as fantastic as people seem to give it credit for (I never saw Old School, so I can't compare), but it's definately entertaining throughout for me.
Plus the ending was priceless, Flo Rida song and all!
this movie was dull, nothing special at all. It actually wasnt all that funny, and I completely agree with your review, altho I'd probably give it a lower rating than a 2
1. Not showing you the party makes you wonder what happened, and it makes seeing the aftermath all the more hilarious.
2. Zack Galifanakis does not curse a single time in the movie which, if you have seen his stand-up is very very unlike him.
Overall this was a great movie. My face actually hurt from laughing so much. One of the best comedies I've seen--something the ticket sales and ratings seem to agree with me on.
Well, from what I've seen through history, most people are stupid so I wouldn't call ticket sales a respectable means to qualify greatness (Transformers 2). Going into it, I expected the concept to have more legs. What I found instead was conflicts in characters. They makes worse choices when sober = bad screenwriting.
Normally, I would agree that ticket sales are a terrible way to judge a movie's quality, and I also agree that Transformers 2 was a terrible movie, but I think that the Hangover is a special case.
Right now the Hangover is ranked 59th on IMDb's all time high box office list. Notice that it is the highest R rated raunchy comedy, and most of the movies that beat it are the PG-13 appeal to everyone summer flick type movies.
I understand that the all time box office list is by no means a list of the best movies of all time, however, the Hangover's standing on this list--previously unattained by any other movie in this genre suggests that the Hangover is unique. Additionally, the Hangover is rated at about an 8.2 on IMDb which, considering the fact that the Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption hover right around a 9.0, is pretty impressive.
Also, I don't see how they made worse choices sober. The choices they made wasted were about as bad as it gets. Stealing a police car, marrying a hooker, kidnapping an asian man, pulling out your own tooth etc.. all sound like pretty bad ideas.
You make the point that they were very idiotic in their tiger transportation, but they probably didn't think the tiger would wake up so quickly from 6 roofies. I thought their drunk choices were much worse than their sober ones.
Of course their intoxicated choices should be bad, but these are adults with (in most cases) respectable backgrounds. Beyond the tiger behavior, other evidence of a screenplay running out of gas include a naked mobster who had no business being in that trunk and the cliche stripper with a heart of gold.
By the end, I realized why this movie wasn't made before: seeing the chaos chronologically is more entertaining than recovering from it. It's no one's direct fault, but if you look at the director's resume, you'll see he relies on a comfortable formula. This is essentially Old School 2.
Movies I have high hopes for, receive closer scrutiny from me. At the halfway point, I just wanted it to end; not the feeling I desired at the start. I'm now hoping Funny People doesn't disappoint.
if someone has to explain to me why a movie is funny then something ain't right. i sat through this in the theatre and the only laughter i heard sounded like a desperate cry for amusement. it's cruel humor. instead of laughing at the situation a character is in, the audience is asked to laugh at how stupid people can be. it's like picking on retarded kids or something. or being the retarded kid. certainly that is what passes for comedy these days.
@fictitiousarts Oh i completely agree. if someone has to explain to me why a movie is funny then something ain't right. But that doesn't necessarily mean something "ain't right" with the movie. If people have to explain jokes to you, it doesn't mean the jokes are flawed. You just don't get them.
Lately, this has been the one most have disagreed with me on (first it was Slumdog Millionaire which I thought was good, but evidently the Indian community didn't think that was high enough praise). Having seen other films by this director, this one became predictable and at many times "unfunny" for me.
I've been invited to see Transformers 2 about 6 hours before the general public. It'll be a two part review, with the first being a go/no go for those seeing the midnight. By the time they get out, my longer video will be ready for ridicule.
well, i'm not really sure. i mean we all have our own opinions and for that fact the directors who made the movie if they like it and actually got it out on big screen i'm sure that's the only thing they should care about. but as for you if entitling your opinion out for people gets you some money so be it. as long as it makes you happy and whatnot iguess do it. and i'm a little more releaved you like some movies. (:
I'm not easily pleased, and I believe that gives weight to the few times that I do hold something in high regard. It reassures my viewers that they won't be getting taken. It's better than being known as what the industry calls a "blurb whore" (those willing to say anything to get their names on a poster or tv spot.
well, personally i don't think you have to have the california type things or what have you to make up your own opinion. i mean if you didn't like it so be it. but i'm just saying why can't you ever like one movie really?
no, i just think you are quite to hard headed when it comes to movies. i watch all of your reviews and you barely ever get an estatic "this was a GREAT movie!". type line... i mean come on. was there at least one movie you liked?! besides march of the penguins... hah.
Maybe if Hollywood studios recognized Kansas as a state, just maybe they would send me the screeners they give to the critics in New York, California, etc. Then, maybe, I would feel a little better about what I'm trying to do; as opposed to waiting to be completely irrelevant by going to films with the public, then spending the next 6+ hours making a free video which only showers me in hate mail, all while not being able to pay the bills, all thanks to college.
no wonder anybody doesn't put their ad out for you! they'd be showing that they are to full of themselves, highstrung, and think they are better then anything that has possibly came out! seriously, take movies a little more rationaly. the people who directed it were very clever and the actors did a good job on their roles and whatnot. wow just wow...!
okay, seriously. UNSUBSCRIBED! i subscribed to you because of your year one review. it sounded real and how it basically looked and how michael cera acts... but the hangover!! man are you kidding me?! i saw this movie twice in the movie theatre, it literally made me crack up throughout the whole thing. and my mom didn't even want to go see it but i made her and she saw it twice too. she thought she was going to fall asleep during it but she ended up loving it! you are to high strung at this.
I think you're over-analyzing it a tad. This movie was just pure, stupid humor. The plot didn't have to make a lot of sense. That wasn't really the point.

u just have a shitty sense of humor ur picking at it way to hard its a comedy with mainly stupid humor thats why they put the tiger in the mercedes cause its not supposed to make sense like that . And they dont show the bachelor party in it cause its called the hangover not the bachelor party its about the day after
I was going to say this but it seems like you already did. The whole point of the movie is they (and you) don't know what happened the night before. If you saw everything that happened and then watched them slowly figure it out, I don't think it'd be funny at all.
Great review! This definitely looked like a renter to me and your review just confirms that.
Oh, and you were spot on with the first 10 minutes of Up. I had to use the napkins I grabbed from the concession stands for my popcorn. I really enjoyed that movie.

It was a toss up between this and Land Of The Lost and I chose The Hangover.... should've seen Up instead. Hahaha.

u just have a shitty sense of humor ur picking at it way to hard its a comedy with mainly stupid humor thats why they put the tiger in the mercedes cause its not supposed to make sense like that . And they dont show the bachelor party in it cause its called the hangover not the bachelor party its about the day after

Are you going to repeat more of my review to me?

I was going to say this but it seems like you already did. The whole point of the movie is they (and you) don't know what happened the night before. If you saw everything that happened and then watched them slowly figure it out, I don't think it'd be funny at all.

Great review! This definitely looked like a renter to me and your review just confirms that.
Oh, and you were spot on with the first 10 minutes of Up. I had to use the napkins I grabbed from the concession stands for my popcorn. I really enjoyed that movie.
