Matt Smith is a fantastic Doctor. At first, after the switch, he seems a little too immature, but he's a new personality that we learn to love. I personally think he portrays the Doctor very well and those who think they dislike him should really give him a chance before they officially decide. I mean, honestly, who doesn't love fish fingers and custard? :D
To me, all the Doctors are awesome in their own special way. The wonderful thing about Doctor Who is that it never gets old. It always changes, and each incarnation of The Doctor is like a different character, and each one we've all come to know and love. To sum up the show, all 11 Doctors are awesome, nobody messes with them, bananas are good, and bowties are cool.

I don't know yet. I love David. He was the best Doctor. But i can give Matt a chance. Maybe he's gonna be a good Doctor. We don't know yet! I'm looking forward to the new Series of Doctor Who.
I think the potential is there. but I don't think Matt has the potential to use it. His acting is hackney at best. There are to many points where it seems like he is trying to live off the reputation of previous doctors as opposed to having any real talent himself. the only thing that is saving his series is his Companion. She's a better actor and more entertaining. I think the Writers realized this two because she seems to end up playing the hero more than normal.

Though I did misspeak, It isn't Smith who is trying to hold reputation and rely on the the history of the Doctors as much as the writers would be. I'll continue watching but I really Can't like this doctor as much as either of our recent Doctors. Especially number 9. Now that man could draw you in. Dalek was a a fantastic episode, you could see the insanity caused by the Time War in The Doctors Eyes. I won't lye, I still get teary eyed when I see watch that episode.
well my opinion is that i never liked him first of all, i was upset knowing david had to go, i even cried..lol..but i was curious to whether matt would be good enough, so i just wanted to see the first episode..and you know what?..by the end of it..i was in love..lol..matt smith is wonderful, i even think now that i would be even more heartbroken when the time comes for matt to leave and pass the role onto someone else, i'm not looking forward to knowing who the 12th would be :::(

I like Matt because he was my first doctor. But i watched all 5 series after the fifth season and now i know my everyone didnt want to see David go and with the 9th doctor Chris i didnt see that fire in him like 10 and 11 but we'll miss'em. Stay awesome and keep making videos!

Funny enough, David's at the very bottom. I loved him when he started (series 2), but after he spent a whole series neglecting an awesome companion because he couldn't get over Rose, he started to fall lower down my list.
I think he stayed too long, got repetitive. "Ooh! Ah! Allons-y! Ending sentences with-AAAAAY! I'm the only one left! WELL...!", etc etc etc.
I don't like his Doctor. I gave him time but I can't get into it because, he lacks the enthusiasm that the other Doctor's had. I don't like the outfit because it just looks like he's trying to look older when he doesn't. I don't like the Geronimo or anything. I don't like how he always seems like he doesn't want his life and feels sorry for himself. I don't like The Tardis or Sonic Screwdriver. I do like Amy and Rory though. I wish David would come back!
I had an argument with you before. I haven't seen the behind the scenes because I don't have them available to me (I'm in America) but I meant his Doctor lacks enthusiasm not him. For example, "The Unquiet Dead", The Doctor hears a scream and says "That's more like it" but yet, if you look at "Vincent and The Doctor", Matt Smith hears a scream and says "Now that's definitely not good". I don't wanna argue this is supposed to be opinions so if you want to reply message me.........

Everyone forgets the Doctor is more than just a character! It's not even a role! It's a state of being! It's like an entity that changes constantly, and though the personality/person seemingly changes, it's still the same person! And in the end, he is FANTASTIC! BRILLIANT! CLEVER! AMAZING!
As a fan of Doctor Who since the Classic series. The backlash against Matt Smith reminds me a bit of the backlash when Peter Davison took over after Tom Baker left. Tom Baker was on for so long that everybody identified him as the Doctor and nobody could ever replace him. The same goes for David Tennant, many viewers do not know the classic series so DT is their only Doctor and nobody can replace him. MS is actually a more versatile actor but since he's not DT, he automatically sucks.
I very much like Matt Smith. David was good, very good looking but Matt is really good looking. Not saying I didn't like David it's just Matt is a great person for the part of the Doctor
I do like David Tennant better [he's one of my favourite actors so it comes naturally], but I think Matt is doing a good job too. The scrips are the ones that disappoint me.
Matt has tried to mimick David Tennant and done a poor job of it. He seems to just try far too hard to jump in the Doctors Shoes. Poor scripts do not help as well as those terriable multi coloured Daleks. CGI has been scaled down making it obvious. In fact there is not much to recommend Series 5
I think Matt is too young to be the doctor, I know it's not fair to compare him to David but I honestly like David better. Also the script of Season 5 is not as good as previosu seasons.
I think people who dislike Smith are really not giving him a chance at all.

The new Daleks look ridiculous, new screwdriver looks slightly OTT but i can live with it.
So far i can only say i enjoyed the first episode, and the Weeping Angels 2 parter, and each one of these episodes had elements which i disliked. As i said, my own opinion.

I don't think I can watch doctor who anymore ;_; I can't stand this guy. At best I give him a 4/10 but it feels like he's trying too hard or he just can't pull of The Doctor. I watched 4 episodes.. I gave him a chance. I don't mind the new tardis or the screwdriver but the daleks remind me of power rangers. His companion doesn't stand out as much like Rose, Martha, and Donna. Scripts feel cliche. Dr. dresses like Mr. Bean.
Well, I've seen the first four episodes, and I think Matt's really funny! I've yet to see more of the episodes before I rest my final statement, though. So far, he's quite promising! I liked his peformance in "The Eleventh Hour" that, in my opinion, has been his best one so far.

Well I think they have changed too much, the tardis and the daleks and the screwdriver. It was enough that David was gone but what realy upsets me is the plot of the story it is lacking quality.
When I first heard David was leaving and Matt was taking over, I was heartbroken, and didn't really give Matt the credit he deserved. I haven't seen any of the new episodes, as I disliked Matt, however, my opinion has changed because when David started I didn't want Chris to leave, so I'm gonna give Matt a chance, but no one could ever do a better job than David...but oh well...Matt will hopefully make the doctor his own, so looking forward to see how he will do it (:

Hm...David wasn't horrible, but I'm really looking forward to a non-emo doctor. Matt Smith looks like the doctor. I saw him in costume, and knew it had to be him.
Oh no, David doesn't look like an emo. He looks very cute. His portrayal of the doctor, particularly in the third and fourth seasons, was emo. Someone was always hurting him, and he was always going on about it. He never had the peaceful joy of a doctor like Tom Baker, or the steel resolve of a doctor like Chris Eccleston. He simply had no way to escape or deal with his grief.
I'm working on a 'wait and see' policy, I'll certainly be watching the first few episodes with Matt Smith in and seeing whether his style of Doctor appeals to me, but it looks quite interesting from the previews.
Tennant was a great Doctor, but I think they've got rid of a lot of emotional baggage for the Doctor at the end of the last series, so I'm interested to see what direction the series goes in.

I think matt smith will be great! I think a lot of people, particuarly some the younger fans who've not really known another doctor, are givng him a hard time as they didnt want david to go. However, the show has changed lead roles many times over the years, and every actor who takes it on always makes the part their own! Im sure matt will do the same, and that everyone, including those putting him down at the moment, will come to love him! He also seems very funny! I cant w8 for the new series!

I initially thought there could be no replacement for david he was the best doctor and would always be the best when i hears of this guy i assumed he wouldnt be a match but his little scene at the end of davids time as the doctor got me intrested im looking forwars to seeing what he has to offer.
Patterson Joseph(Neverwhere, Jekyll, prev. ep of Dr. Who) expressed interest and was considered. Even James Nesbitt (Jekyll) was considered. And they totally could have worked in making him John Simm (That Master). Which is why when they came out with this guy, I was intensely disappointed. Any of the above would have been an instant hit. They're savvy, they're established actors, and Patterson Joseph would be hot! D: Sorry Matt, I'm just not that into you. The initial scene didn't do it for me.

I still maintain that Richard E. Grant would make a superior Doctor. I was obviously horrified when it was first announced....as I was hoping for an older Doctor frankly.... 30+ preferably.... I think the age thing was my biggest quibble, and was what I fixated on lol. I'm sure he'll do fine/great as the Doctor, specially with Moffat writing now(WOOOO!) But it will take some getting used to, Tennant not being the Doctor anymore.... twas the ideal Doctor in my mind, after I saw Casanova I was besotted with him lol. Was so glad when I heard the news he got the job.
He will be fine. Seriously, we go through this every regeneration and the only one I ever disliked was Colin Baker, and his audio adventures are actually good...so I would just put that down to bad scripts at the time.

I remember when David Tennant first became the Doctor. I was watching the 9th Doctor regenerate and I didn't really know what was going on (I was new to the show). Then he changed into this other person...I thought to myself "What? You can't use him! He's horrible!" Time passed and I accepted the fact he was here to stay, and I actually fell in love with him! I'm led to believe that the same scenario shall happen here with Matt Smith. I think he'll do just fine when the series really gets going.

Ok 5 year old. The sonic screwdriver first appeared in the 1968 story Fury From The Deep. Not Tennant. Rose (the worst ever companion) started with the 9th Doctor. Matt Smith is brilliant, you're not a Doctor Who fan you just watch it for David Tennant.

No, Steven has made it the same as it was. Thats a GOOD thing. The Daleks were never in every series, so Steven is making a good choice (although they are returning).

I think the potential is there. but I don't think Matt has the potential to use it. His acting is hackney at best. There are to many points where it seems like he is trying to live off the reputation of previous doctors as opposed to having any real talent himself. the only thing that is saving his series is his Companion. She's a better actor and more entertaining. I think the Writers realized this two because she seems to end up playing the hero more than normal.

Though I did misspeak, It isn't Smith who is trying to hold reputation and rely on the the history of the Doctors as much as the writers would be. I'll continue watching but I really Can't like this doctor as much as either of our recent Doctors. Especially number 9. Now that man could draw you in. Dalek was a a fantastic episode, you could see the insanity caused by the Time War in The Doctors Eyes. I won't lye, I still get teary eyed when I see watch that episode.

well my opinion is that i never liked him first of all, i was upset knowing david had to go, i even cried..lol..but i was curious to whether matt would be good enough, so i just wanted to see the first episode..and you know what?..by the end of it..i was in love..lol..matt smith is wonderful, i even think now that i would be even more heartbroken when the time comes for matt to leave and pass the role onto someone else, i'm not looking forward to knowing who the 12th would be :::(

I like Matt because he was my first doctor. But i watched all 5 series after the fifth season and now i know my everyone didnt want to see David go and with the 9th doctor Chris i didnt see that fire in him like 10 and 11 but we'll miss'em. Stay awesome and keep making videos!

He's in my top-three-favorite Doctors, alonside William Hartnell and Tom Baker. No particular order, just those top three :P
Funny enough, David's at the very bottom. I loved him when he started (series 2), but after he spent a whole series neglecting an awesome companion because he couldn't get over Rose, he started to fall lower down my list.
I think he stayed too long, got repetitive. "Ooh! Ah! Allons-y! Ending sentences with-AAAAAY! I'm the only one left! WELL...!", etc etc etc.

I don't like his Doctor. I gave him time but I can't get into it because, he lacks the enthusiasm that the other Doctor's had. I don't like the outfit because it just looks like he's trying to look older when he doesn't. I don't like the Geronimo or anything. I don't like how he always seems like he doesn't want his life and feels sorry for himself. I don't like The Tardis or Sonic Screwdriver. I do like Amy and Rory though. I wish David would come back!

I had an argument with you before. I haven't seen the behind the scenes because I don't have them available to me (I'm in America) but I meant his Doctor lacks enthusiasm not him. For example, "The Unquiet Dead", The Doctor hears a scream and says "That's more like it" but yet, if you look at "Vincent and The Doctor", Matt Smith hears a scream and says "Now that's definitely not good". @DoctorWhoovian Personally I think David Tennant is far too overrated as the Doctor, to me he's actually the worst, for all his good points the bad points were greater, like baring no character constancy or believability in the though that he is the same Doctor from the classic series i.e. the original show.
Just because your eye candy is gone doesn't make him bad in role, in fact to me he is certainly one of the best Doctor's and the best new series Doctor. You think you know....

Everyone forgets the Doctor is more than just a character! It's not even a role! It's a state of being! It's like an entity that changes constantly, and though the personality/person seemingly changes, it's still the same person! And in the end, he is FANTASTIC! BRILLIANT! CLEVER! AMAZING!

As a fan of Doctor Who since the Classic series. The backlash against Matt Smith reminds me a bit of the backlash when Peter Davison took over after Tom Baker left. Tom Baker was on for so long that everybody identified him as the Doctor and nobody could ever replace him. The same goes for David Tennant, many viewers do not know the classic series so DT is their only Doctor and nobody can replace him. MS is actually a more versatile actor but since he's not DT, he automatically sucks.

Matt has tried to mimick David Tennant and done a poor job of it. He seems to just try far too hard to jump in the Doctors Shoes. Poor scripts do not help as well as those terriable multi coloured Daleks. CGI has been scaled down making it obvious. In fact there is not much to recommend Series 5

My own opinion?
David was so much better. Though i prefer Matt over Christopher.
So far i think Matt is capable of pulling of the doctor persona, though so far the whole script writing has been shockingly bad...
The new Daleks look ridiculous, new screwdriver looks slightly OTT but i can live with it.
So far i can only say i enjoyed the first episode, and the Weeping Angels 2 parter, and each one of these episodes had elements which i disliked. As i said, my own opinion.

I don't think I can watch doctor who anymore ;_; I can't stand this guy. At best I give him a 4/10 but it feels like he's trying too hard or he just can't pull of The Doctor. I watched 4 episodes.. I gave him a chance. I don't mind the new tardis or the screwdriver but the daleks remind me of power rangers. His companion doesn't stand out as much like Rose, Martha, and Donna. Scripts feel cliche. Dr. dresses like Mr. Bean.

Well, I've seen the first four episodes, and I think Matt's really funny! I've yet to see more of the episodes before I rest my final statement, though. So far, he's quite promising! I liked his peformance in "The Eleventh Hour" that, in my opinion, has been his best one so far.

Well I think they have changed too much, the tardis and the daleks and the screwdriver. It was enough that David was gone but what realy upsets me is the plot of the story it is lacking quality.

When I first heard David was leaving and Matt was taking over, I was heartbroken, and didn't really give Matt the credit he deserved. I haven't seen any of the new episodes, as I disliked Matt, however, my opinion has changed because when David started I didn't want Chris to leave, so I'm gonna give Matt a chance, but no one could ever do a better job than David...but oh well...Matt will hopefully make the doctor his own, so looking forward to see how he will do it (:

Oh no, David doesn't look like an emo. He looks very cute. His portrayal of the doctor, particularly in the third and fourth seasons, was emo. Someone was always hurting him, and he was always going on about it. He never had the peaceful joy of a doctor like Tom Baker, or the steel resolve of a doctor like Chris Eccleston. He simply had no way to escape or deal with his grief.

I'm working on a 'wait and see' policy, I'll certainly be watching the first few episodes with Matt Smith in and seeing whether his style of Doctor appeals to me, but it looks quite interesting from the previews.
Tennant was a great Doctor, but I think they've got rid of a lot of emotional baggage for the Doctor at the end of the last series, so I'm interested to see what direction the series goes in.

I think matt smith will be great! I think a lot of people, particuarly some the younger fans who've not really known another doctor, are givng him a hard time as they didnt want david to go. However, the show has changed lead roles many times over the years, and every actor who takes it on always makes the part their own! Im sure matt will do the same, and that everyone, including those putting him down at the moment, will come to love him! He also seems very funny! I cant w8 for the new series!

Just consider this before you hate on Matt. No, really, just consider:
Steven Moffat personally oversaw the auditions and casting process. He had the pick of Britain's elite actors - Robert Carlyle, James Nesbit, Patterson Joseph, John Simm, Russel Tovey...
Even Moffat himself said he wanted an older actor.
But he chose Matt Smith. Out of all that, the Man himself chose Smith. Why? Because regardless of whether you like him or not...
He's a good Doctor.
And that's all that matters.

Patterson Joseph(Neverwhere, Jekyll, prev. ep of Dr. Who) expressed interest and was considered. Even James Nesbitt (Jekyll) was considered. And they totally could have worked in making him John Simm (That Master). Which is why when they came out with this guy, I was intensely disappointed. Any of the above would have been an instant hit. They're savvy, they're established actors, and Patterson Joseph would be hot! D: Sorry Matt, I'm just not that into you. The initial scene didn't do it for me.

What do I think? Well, considering my first look at him was tonight, and that was through a few thousand tears after hearing David say 'I don't want to go...' I'd have to say I didn't like him much. Then he goes and cheers me up with 'I'M A GIRL!? I'M A GIRL!?!?! Wait, I'm not a girl. Still not ginger...' so then I'm laughing and enjoying his explosion onto the series. I think he'll do alright. Hell, he's got me hooked on his first 23 seconds, he's gotta be good! But I miss Tennat so much... T_T

Personally Andrew Lee Potts, is funny and good and would make a good doctor but a lot of people know him from Primeval, to be a doctor, you have to be a new commer that is basically unknown, thats what it takes to be the doctor

I still maintain that Richard E. Grant would make a superior Doctor. I'm growing concerned with the BBCs insistence on younger doctors as if they are attempting to create some sort of "heart Throb" character, which the doctor is NOT - he is a father figure, a mentor, a manic who is kept in check by his companions. But we shall see how well this young upstart plays the timelord. Hopefully he'll have me eating my words. Either that or he'll regenerate into BRIAN BLESSED.

I dont think he suits the doctor one bit. All of the others, have briught somthing new & good to both the character & the show, i just think that hes too young to play an emotional character such as the doctor. Plus i think hes a rubbish actor anyway. I cant watch ANYTHING with him in it, so god help me when he`s playing the doctor....

I know about people out their hating matt because david (let's face it) is the best doctor ever. But david chose to leave, it's not matts fault, he didn't point a gun at david and tell him to leave. And if the 11th isn't like the 10th doctor then thats good, it would be boring if they had the same personality, they all bring something new to the doctor. We should give him a chance, but i understand if people don't like it, it's weird seeing him next to the tardis. you think david should be there

Even so... every time I think about the final episode... I tear up..... I do.... even seeing the title of the episode and 'part 2' next to it... its so sad.....Been rewatching the phillip pullman drama's to get myself used to him tho... Not nearly as irksome as I remember lol. Charming almost. I just wonder which accent he'll pick. Please god no cockney london... or the one from Party Animals.(No idea which his real accent is lol, if one of them is his real accent...)

I was obviously horrified when it was first announced....as I was hoping for an older Doctor frankly.... 30+ preferably.... I think the age thing was my biggest quibble, and was what I fixated on lol. I'm sure he'll do fine/great as the Doctor, specially with Moffat writing now(WOOOO!) But it will take some getting used to, Tennant not being the Doctor anymore.... twas the ideal Doctor in my mind, after I saw Casanova I was besotted with him lol. Was so glad when I heard the news he got the job.

He will be fine. Seriously, we go through this every regeneration and the only one I ever disliked was Colin Baker, and his audio adventures are actually good...so I would just put that down to bad scripts at the time.

I remember when David Tennant first became the Doctor. I was watching the 9th Doctor regenerate and I didn't really know what was going on (I was new to the show). Then he changed into this other person...I thought to myself "What? You can't use him! He's horrible!" Time passed and I accepted the fact he was here to stay, and I actually fell in love with him! I'm led to believe that the same scenario shall happen here with Matt Smith. I think he'll do just fine when the series really gets going.

Ok 5 year old. The sonic screwdriver first appeared in the 1968 story Fury From The Deep. Not Tennant. Rose (the worst ever companion) started with the 9th Doctor. Matt Smith is brilliant, you're not a Doctor Who fan you just watch it for David Tennant.

David Tennant is the doctor. he always will be, but i think people need to give Matt Smith a chance. he might not be David Tennant, but there's no reason why he cant be good because of that. i think that they changed the Tardis and sonic screw driver and stuff because David Tennant made the role so his own that if they kept everything the same, it still would be, even with the new doctor. people would keep comparing and not move on if you follow me thats what i think anyway.

I don't care how somber or dark the stories get the doctor has to have a little more style or color to him. Minus the goofy celery stock on the lapel. And I'm not knocking Davison because when i go back and watch clips with him I really like the guy but I couldn't get past that stupid celery.

i didn't think I would like Tennant, not after seeing Eccleston and Piper together.
Tennant won me over and I'm glad I kept an open mind because he did a superb job as the doctor. I hate to see him go, actually.
I doubt Smith can top the job Tennant, Eccleston or Baker did, but I love the series so much I'll give a season for him to show what he can do.
