@bullsleafs totally agree. Mind you, it was an easier time for us, since we didn't have adult problems. Watching this brings me back to hi school days, getting ready for bed & catching the last little bit of evening TV. Good memories
CBC has made a point not to air American programming in prime time (well, 8-11 pm anyway) since the early 1990s. However, CBC has had American programming in some form throughout most of its existence. It's just that CBC wants to set itself apart from the private networks.
Hanging in....HA! I can't believe how big Knowton Nash's glasses are, I don't remember them being that big! Seeing Things used to freak me out, but I was only five or so.
This video must have been from 1981. The National moved from 11 to 10 on Jan 11 1982. MarketPlace was promo'd in this piece to "begin Oct 3 at 10 PM."
The National aired at 10 from Monday-Friday from 1982-92, and from 1995-present. October 3, 1982 fell on a Sunday, so that would explain it. The National logo at the time did not exist in 1981, All My Children didn't move to CBC until 1982 and Newhart (as RetroWinnipeg said) debuted that year.
very interesting, i remember that intro clearly and also when CBC was the channel to watch with interesting shows on. CBC really took a dive after the '80s
I think I'm gonna cry! This rules! I watched a number of Hangin' In and Seeing Things episodes. The National was often on in the background while I was playing or drawing.
Great old clip of CBC shows during my birth year, 1982! Wow, that's a young Susan Lucci on AMC! I haven't seen Hangin' In in a LONG TIME! Thanks, if you have any more of these vintage clips, post them!
The 80's were such a simple time, I would love to raise my son in the 80's.

Lol, the letters for "The National" news program look just like the same font they used in the movie "Tron", which came out that same year in 82
