  • Yeah, that baseline is tight.. But did anyone else notice that you don't see anybody playing the bass?? I'm sayin' tho..

  • Pat & Angie are killing the dance moves, as usual. Foster is singing his "GROWN" heart out. Ricky is killing the bass guitar. James is selling sex in the back.....lol. The SYLVERS are the BEST!!!!!!

  • I wish they would have stuck together. I think they would have been around for a long time.

  • I discovered this band a few minutes ago here on YouTube. They sound just as good as Shalamar!

  • @sauermusicDE Thats because Leon Sylvers of The Sylvers produced much of Shalamars songs/music. He even wrote for the group, u should check out the group Dynasty aswell :)

  • First time seeing this. This song is so funky, got me dancing just hearing it. I miss those '80s funk music. Those 2 Sylvers sisters were dressed to kill.

  • The bassline is kickin! Wonder if its Leon!

  • The one with the hat...Oooh, Daddy! He's so hot!

  • @RememberTheTime09. Yeah, you're right. Just a different look...

  • This does not look like Pat on this video. The mouth, smile and hair is throwing me off here. I know she was the one on the album cover and with this later group of the Sylvers. If it is her, she looks really different! I thought this looked more like Olympia who I thought was out of the group by this recording...

  • @tmontgo100 Its definitely Pat!

  • If I shave my 70's porn star tache I understand I am a splitting image of the guy in white long sleeve shirt...and I do as it goes...just with a bit more meat on me though...but that is where it all ends...cant sing to save my life...LOL..thanks for the post..takes me back to my bopping days when my friend's mum asked with all seriousness what the heck I was doing on the cover of this album..serious!

  • @turnex1 Nice,you got a girlfriend haha?!

  • PAT LOOKS LIKE SHE'S HAVING so much fun!!!

  • How in the world did Foster go from a little boy to a man in 3 years lol!!! Love you Foster!

  • @Nanadsyl Hysterical, straight up GROWN! Yes all that in like 2-3 years! It was looking like it would NEVER happen...everyone grew so fast and he didn't!

  • Foster has GROWN

  • I can't stop watching this video.

And trying to imitate the dance moves.

And trying to get this song unstuck in my head!

  • la basse est de qualité et la mélodie extra ! The Sylvers un groupe qui a bercé ma jeunesse ! et qui la berce encore ! (oui tout dans la tête !)

  • This jam is toooo smooth...they had it going ON. Along with Leon's super talented writing/producing capabilities....I bet Rod Temperton(from Heatwave) could have had this group all over the Map. Two mega-writers like these guys would have propelled this amazing family into the stratosphere. Man this tune is BAAAAD!

  • @lovebeingamum40 Even with Rod Temperton in the picture, they still would have to overcome the major issue of marketing and promotion of a record label. They had the misfortune of being signed to record labels that were questionable when it came to R&B music (MGM, Capitol, and Geffen). They didn't even get proper promotion at Solar Records- and Solar was very successful in the early 80's!

  • I too was a huge fan of The Sylvers, however, this track slipped right past me. Didn't get any airplay in Michigan and that's a damn shame because it would have certainly been a hit. I am so thankful for TV One doing Unsung documentary on this incredibly talented family. I sure wish I could have gotten a taste of that fine azz Rickey ... whew, should be againt the law for a man to be this fine. Lol ... Love them dearly. Hope Rickey and Foster are released soon. Fans here truly adore you all !!

  • Loving this song and video like crazy. I grew up listening to the Sylvers but

were only aware of the bubble gum hits and Freestyle. I knew about Leon's crazy production hits at Solar but didn't even know the rest of the clan was still making music in the 80's. I really slept on this talented family during this period. Shame on me.

  • This is such a jamming song. Signature Leon. Can you guys imagine if the group had stayed with Leon!!!

  • WOW, this is REAL music and I'm not just saying it.

The musical instruments! You don't hear that in today's music. Even though a song of the past could've been pre-recorded, you could still differentiate whether a live instrument was played in a studio between some computerized noise.

That's beautiful. That's what a lot of music today lacks, unfortunately.

This is a REALLY great song. =)

  • Fuck Yeah !!!!!!!!

  • YOU KNOW THAAAAAATTTT ......... I MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUUUCCCCCCCHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  • angie marry me...hahaha ahh man this track is hittin !!!!

  • favorite group growing up.

  • Is it just me or does ricky and foster look alike

  • @ATLGirlable

ricky and foster look alooootttttt alike trust me it aint u i mean seriously in one of the photos when foster was yunger he nd ricky were right by each other they looked alike. if i didnt know them i wulda thot tht they was father nd son in that photo 2 be honest

  • @Kai3807 I totally second this comment, and I don't understand why this was flagged as spam!

  • @TheSunnyStar thank you for agreeing with me. I guess I type too much about my favorite group..lol.

  • This is a great song.

  • James is wow-wow in this vid especially in the beginning...*swoon*! Cool song by a gorgeous family. .

  • Sing Foster!!

  • This a really dope song that sounds good in any era. Leon Sylvers was a dope and underrated producers!

  • DAMN!!!!....this is a GOOD LOOKING family!!!

  • Kai, u might be right, the first 4 bars of the song sounds just like a whispers groove. U never know...

  • @glenrich84 ..I was thinking both Whispers and Shalamar...... which in any event I'd be perfectly fine because I like both of those groups as well I like this one. If a groove works, I'm a-listening! LOL

  • I have been a fan of The Sylvers for decades but..Wow!! I am totally blown away !! I This track is the BOMB !! That bassline is HOTT!! ( 3:44) The harmony is right and exact !! & the strings are so sweet.as they lace this track. It may sound funny to many but I hear "And The Beat Goes On "!! written by Leon ..The Sylvers were severely underated and that is a damn shame !! SMH!!..I Thank you UNSUNG for the real story..behind the music!!

  • Strange.....Foster looked like Micheal Jackson but he sounded like Scotty and Walter from the Whispers. The Sylver's music is timeless. I just hate that Foster and Ricky got caught up the way they did. I can't wait for the entire family to be reunited again. They sounded great on their Unsung episode.

  • @Kai3807

I was playing this song in my car and my dad asked if this was the Whispers!!

  • @tris1974 ikr...makes you wonder if all the Whisper's hits that Leon produced were actually written for Foster's voice.

  • i think that one guy missed the i like button !!

  • Foster had such a beautiful voice from childhood into adulthood...

  • This was one of my favorite songs!!!

  • LOVE this group! Back then and even more now! They still got and they proved it when they sung Forever Yours at the end of Unsung. They were such a beautiful looking group that could sing!

  • This group is a rip off of the jackson 5. They absolutely suck, just like all the rest of their songs i seen them on unsung

  • @reelbruta2 i think you're crazy in your assessment. the main problem was that the sylvers and jacksons were compared in the first place. Sure they come from gigantic families and both do soul music, but their musics were respectively different in lyrical texture and even sound. the only time they were remotely comparable was when the sylvers came out with Boogie Fever. other than those two albums, do your research.

  • @reelbrutha2 Well, I can see you're no fan so why are you even commenting on their page if you think they suck? The best response for someone who doesn't like something, is no response at all ! This site is for those who remember, enjoy, discover and rediscover the Sylvers' music and memories. If you don't like them, then find something you do like.

  • Never heard it before. I like it. They have others I have never heard but I like.

  • the y were the most beautiful family in the business, and their music was ahead of it's time. seeing their story on Unsung (which was one of my top 10 of the series) gave me a greater respect and understanding of the family and Leon. I will continue to hold Olympia (who was the most beautiful woman I'd seen) in my prayers. She's not a victim, but my Heroine!

  • @shaftunlimited Olympia was FINE!!!!!! I like Pat, too!!! :)

  • I hope they have a major comeback. It was so good seeing them on that show Unsung.

  • @marellamofo Absolutely great seeing them. They were an extremely talented and good looking family. Olympia was very beautiful. It hurt to hear what happened to her and hurt more to see how her ordeal affects her family to this day. That family deserved far more shine.

  • boy listen to how well the music sounds on this song it kind of reminds of the whispers the lyrics are o.k. ..i,m really impressed .. thanks unsung ....ounce again another fine job ,..the awards are definitely in order,, yep two snaps and a smiley face

  • Sounds like a Shalamar track!

  • @knique66

Leon Sylvers wrote several songs for Shalamar.

  • This is a great song. Can't wait to watch the UnSung episode on this famous family.

  • Wonderful music!

I would really appreciate if somebody whose native language is English publishes the lyrics of that great song.

    Thanks in advance :-)

  • Like I always say. You know the song as some one born in 1971 but at the time you do not have the sense to note the name and the artist but it remains a memory ready to be awakened and.... then... you stumble across it on you tube AND THEN... YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH IT ALL OVER AGAIN

  • THIS IS LEON SOUND!! HE HAD THAT SHIT BOY!!!

  • This is the third song I've discovered on YouTube that I've never heard before until now and wonder why I've missed it when it came out back in 1981 ( I was 12 then). This should have been a smash R& B hit by the Sylvers back in the Solar days. But the record company was parting their ways with RCA at the time and moving under the MCA umbrella. I've played this clip twice every night every since I've heard it. This was truly great music!

  • @Calvin375 Fully agree

  • I think this track would have done better on the charts with a little different production. Like maybe bringing the chorus vocals out front a little more.. maybe with some different instrumentation and beat emphasis. I know it's vague, and I'm not saying the way it is is "bad".. but I just think there could have been production & arrangement enhancements done to really make this song POP.

  • I wish they had stayed wit SOLAR.

  • Pozdrowienia z Polski i polecam Peja - reprezentuje biede tam jest sampel z tego kawalku PROPS

  • Damn! Leon Sylver III's basslines!! Lovely.....fuuunky!

  • love the bobbi walker version, but this one just does it for me.. nice posting, thanks :)

  • The introduction to this is amazing. I love it. The way it fades out and jumps into the main piece is great! Great song!

  • Thanks to Unidisc, I now have this great album on CD. Leave it to them to release all of the great Solar stuff.

  • reprezentuje biede!

  • O.S.T.R. - BÓL DOŚWIADCZEŃ FT.VIENIO

  • Foster looks like Michael Jackson but sounds like Scottie from the Whispers in this video.

  • Great song but what the hell are the girls wearing? Looks like a cross between a toga and harum pants.lol

  • @jrchavez02 Angie was preggie at the time. I think it was a way to conceal it...sorta kinda.

  • Best music!!

  • Solar records forever!!!

  • cooooooooooooooooooool song

  • What a tune **********

  • THOSE CHICKS ARE HOT!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a great track. Leon Sylvers, III was truly one of the great underrated producers of all time. His 80s work with Evelyn King, the Whispers, Dynasty, the Brothers Johnson, Gladys Knight & The Pips and Shalamar was outstanding. You knew his sound right away: the throbbing bass lines, the terrific melodies/hooks, the scratchy guitar licks, the crisp handclaps as well as the pinpoint phrasing. Plus, the sisters were downright cutie pies!

  • @hmsheppard Don't forget he also worked the early day S.O.S. Band's "High Hopes"!!!.

  • @Calvin375 Word! That was my cut!

  • the concept album is perharps the best album solar records ever put out.some one should reissue this gem today

  • This song is an old, lost friend finally found! I had this album back when it came out and it introduced me to the producing genius that is Leon F Sylvers, III. I bought EVERY album he touched, Shalamar, The Whispers, etc. I haven't heard this song in over 25 years and it is just a crisp and perfectly produced as I remember. Classic song that should have done MUCH better than it did!

  • Ahhhh Foster!!!!!

  • these are the most underrated band ever in history people just didnt like the mature voices at that time thats why Micheal jackson ruled Foster looked young but sounded like a grown up. Sad but true. i miss them on the air.

  • 0:39 - 0:44 Saffron Hill - My love is always there

  • Oh My GOD!!!!!!! Damm!!! this song takes me back!!! To bad that groups today can't harmonize like this. This is what singing is all about!!!!

  • I have loved this song since I first heard it all those years ago! How it didn't turn out to be a MONSTER hit still boggles my mind today! Like some else here said, it was truly a "Masterpiece"!

  • Can someone, please, tell me what 2 songs were the top 10 hits and what year is this? How could this number not reach the top 20?!?

  • total respect to The Sylvers !! forever in my spirit and also in the spirit's son.. He adore them... I miss you all this band !!! we adore you The Sylvers !!! FOREVER IN OUR SPIRIT !!!!!!!

  • total respect to The Sylvers !! forever in my spirit and also in the spirit's son.. He adore them... I miss you all this band !!! we adore you The Sylvers !!!

  • What a gem! How this was not a platinum smash is beyond me. And check out an older Foster Sylvers! Gone was the pipsqueak voice we heard on "Misdemeanor" & a little on "Boogie Fever." But I'm diggin' Foster's shag-fro, though! I would have paid big dough to get my 'do to behave like that...but it is what it is!

  • @hmsheppard

Yup, the family had that good hair to keep it up like that (not like DeBarge, but they did'nt need much products to make an afro like that). If you wanna know how to keep your Afro shag like that, ask Peabo Bryson, Lionel Richie, Alfonso Riberio, or Todd Bridges.

  • @soulchildsacomin LOL! Yes, Peabo, Lionel, Alfonso & Todd were the great shagmasters of the day. But, their shags were tame and neat, unlike the sloppy, gaudy scary curl shags of Full Force and the dudes in Midnight Star. (You're right, the DeBarge's didn't count, for their do's were naturally long and wavy. Just some gel and a brush and they were good to go.)

  • what album is come back lover on?

  • @music4you2love "Concept"

  • @music4you2love

    "Concept" (1981)

  • This is the Jam! This family was very special in music.I saw them in Cleveland 1980 along with Cameo and the Suga Hill gang.

  • This is a classic. I love it.

  • It sounds the same as Shalimar because Leon Sylvers III produced for the Sylvers, Dynasty, The Whispers... as well as Shalimar!!!

  • Gives me the goosebumps !! J'ai des frissons

  • Is this the same as Shalamar....sounds like it...

  • I bought this album on 33 tours in 1989... I was 17 years old.. So very good tune... So funky.. So very good memories.. Clap your hands and dance with this tune come on... I need you so much you know that I miss you so much the Sylvers... FOREVER IN MY SPIRIT....Your album is in my heart forever...

  • Wow! I never heard this, I kinda lost track of the Sylvers in the 80's and don't know if they are doing anything now...This reminds me of Shalamar and other artists from that era..this is a great tune! Wonder how it did in the UK and overseas??

  • another great single..big fan...

    (sorry...my french is not O.K. ...)

  • they was tryna bite the whispers wont they ? lol!

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Leon Sylvers III wrote and produced hits for Five Star ("Another Weekend", "Rock My World"), Shalamar ("The Second Time Around", "A Night To Remember"), The Whispers ("It's A Love Thing", "I Can Make It Better", "In The Raw", "Tonight". and the gold single "And the Beat Goes On"), Dynasty ("I've Just Begun to Love You")... so they weren't trying to sound like them at all, the oldest one wrote and produced hits for the Whispers

  • @FullScaleEntLLC oh ok , didnt know !

  • @FullScaleEntLLC he also wrote - more than you can handle - lucious dame - and the first hit BIG BOY" for the jacksong 5.

  • thanks for posting this !!! I would like to see any live footage of any member of this family especially foster playing the bass. I think they never got the credit they deserved because of the lead singers had a mature voice and looked so young and that to america would nt sell at that time! But i was in heaven with this hit!! James and Ricky was da sheeeit!!

  • EXCELLENCE!!!!!!!!!

  • such talented folks they were under represented by thier record label thats just my opinion but thank goodness for youtube god bless the sylvers and R.I.P Edmund

  • Realy explosive and so fine !!!!!

    Ever young

  • Wow!

  • love it <3 !

  • Whenever The Jackson 5 get through although i loved them 2,THE SYLVERS WERE

and R THE S______T! How many kid gorups do you know that started writing their own songs from the very start of their recording careers?...THE SYLVERS,so they pissed off J5 and the Osmonds and ereybody else they could+THEY COULD SANG!!!...had a chance to meet the original group,GREAT and HUMBLE BUNCH they were....Thanks Again Y'all Darrell

  • i watch this video on my ipod back2back and repeat it 7 more times. this is bangin!

  • The bass slap at 3:47 is indescribebly beautiful! Leon, Slap that bass!!!

  • They moved from Casablanca to SOLAR with this album and their brother (the legendary Leon Sylvers) produced. This track was one of the better R&B tracks of the era. Why the label didn't give it a big P.R. push has always perplexed me. But a #63 showing in Billboard isn't THAT bad, I guess.

  • Were are all my Friends from my Past ! Come on BAck

  • wow you know alot about the Silvers..love this song.. i probably was about 13 years old...

  • I've got chills listening to this track - best track ever, nothing can top that.

  • the failure of this single lets you know that not everything on the charts should be there and a few who aren't needed to be ...........this my friends is a masterpiece right here!!!

  • @1980Triumph: The song did manage to nick the Billboard Disco/Dance chart in January, 1982, peaking at #63. Had this been recorded by Dynasty or Shalamar, it would have gone top 20 R&B and perhaps spent some time on the Hot 100 (as would have "Just When I Thought It Was Over"). I blame Dick Griffey for his poor management of the group, as well as American radio, who seemed to want to keep the Sylvers pigeon holed in the bubble gum arena.

  • @WayneInSF

"Just When I Thought It Was Over" was never a single, but it should have been. Dick Griffey was'nt really pushing his artists to release slow jams as singles (except for the Whispers and his wife, Carrie Lucas because that was more of their style of music). Dick was too busy focusing on The Whispers, Shalamar, and Lakeside (and later Midnight Star) that he paid little to no attention to The Sylvers, Klymaxx, Collage, and Dynasty (after a while) and all three were great groups!

  • @1980Triumph I agree!

  • Best song they ever did!!!!

  • and i love the break @ 3.44 and the bass slap @ 3.47 @ 3.54 and the way in comes back with the vocals @ 3.56 "i want to hear" ok basically i love this track since i discovered it in the 90's

  • 3.01 the indian girl (she is cute) screwed up in the dance step. She goes for a spin but realizes that it is not what was planned :)

    lovely

  • :) thx

  • 0:25 This is the Sequiential Circuits "Prophet 5" ...right ? great video !

  • THANKS!
