  • I was like 8 when I first saw that movie, and I consider the scene with the dead kids to be the first WTFISTHISSHIT moment of my life.

  • welp, it looks like this is going to be the topic of my 3 in depth annotations for this novel. you, good sir, are permitting me to play more Batman Arkham City, therefore you are a champion.

  • we reading this novel in my college class , 19 th centry novel , i need to see the novel movies , in order to understand the plot , without more reading ;p

i just ask about the title of the film ?!!!!

  • FUN FACT!

In the novel, it is not a pig's heart, but a pig's penis that she throws at him. It represents the fact that she is in fact more masculine than him.

  • The last bit of emo -- doubly sad when you realize he emos in the snow so long at the end of the book that he actually dies. From emoing. In the snow.

  • Gotta love Winslet, gets her kit off at the drop of a hat. Saw the flick a while back(which I liked) and am currently reading the book which is pretty swell too. Big Morrissey fan. Think I might be a little bit emo...

  • when you say emo when he cry in bed that not funny that so sad poor guy . . . and how did the kid hang he self and what happen to the kid in bed ?

  • @GreenBlossom45 First he killed them, then he killed himself.

  • This would be very good if it wasn't for the crude typing across the screen.

  • This is absolutely brilliant. I'm writing a summary on this for my film class..we had to pick tragedy as a theme, and I came to youtube for a refresher on the movie, as I haven't seen it in years. It's one of the most tragic films I remember, but I wasn't expecting this! Yeah, you summed it up in a nutshell!

  • Hahaha. I'm doing a paper for English on this book as we speak. WTF

  • Lmao, funneh XD Although, I think it was a bit unfair to call Jude emo after Father Time killed himself and the other children - what would you do, laugh? :P XD

  • Ethan Frome is a much better book, and a much better movie.

  • The moral of this movie is: Read the book.

  • actually it was a pig penis... >.>

  • BWHAHAHAHAHA

Think you should have added "WHIPZ" or "This was the height of kinky back then" for the beach scene, but otherwise, yeah perfect! AWESOME!

  • TRAINZ......lol.

  • I watched this whole movie during an intense month of watching every Kate Winslet movie I could get my hands on, cannot remember how I sat through the whole thing, especially after the murder/slash suicide of all their kids

  • Yeah, you should do Ethan Fromme also, it just as dark.

  • Where did you get the clips? I've been looking for this movie for what seems like forever and I can't find it anywhere. does anyone know where to find the full movie?

  • So what do you want? A book less than twenty pages, with less than twenty words on a page? Good God, get a life!

  • Hey! I take the Hardy Comment offensively! I love him! lol. But hilarious summary....but such a sad book :(

  • It was kinda long.

  • I've never seen this movie...

Yaaay, now I don't have to! xD

You should do Ethan Frome. For some reason parts of this reminded me of that movie. Ugh. Torture. I'd love to see an abridged version. Biggest disappointment of all Liam Neeson's roles EVAR.

  • i really love the book. one of my favs.

i haven't seen the movie but your little vid here made me laugh, even if you are making fun of a great story.

  • I love Jude.\ The film is crap however.

  • Was that Kate Winslet?

  • ...in the middle of this damned thing?

  • Sorry I dont undertsand?

  • I was just laughing at the fact that Kate Winslet was in this and she did a Hamlet audition.

  • Where can I find this movie? It's nowhere on the internet or the library.

  • I don't understand the negative comments. Hilarious!

Man, people need to buy a sense of humor.

  • you insulted a classic literary book and the great author

    you're a shame!

  • don't try to label human emotions with dum stuff like "EMO". What.., r u 10 yet?hopefully life is not gonna treat u like that guy, so you would never have to be EMO yourself, or you r too tough for stuff like that and u r sure it won't happen to u? and if it does, don't forget not to have emotions, because u will be -WHAT- EMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • God, is that the only thing you noticed?

  • I love this film. I love the book. I have to tell you that this is the FUNNIEST thing I have seen in ages. Well done!

  • please upload this movie"

  • Call me unread and shallow, but I hate the way Thomas Hardy just seems to conveniently knock people off in his stories so people can have a relatively "clean start." I think I literally groaned at the end of "The Return of the Native," and was really tweaked off by the "Tess" epilogue. Great storyteller otherwise, though.

  • this is lame, your taking the mick out of a seriously good film

  • soooo...... if you have the movie why not download it on youtube for us to see? since iv'e never seen it but it sounds akinda ok....... i guess.... well nice vid its the only one that ive seen "reviewed" and someone talked about it. soo.. what was up with the note? what did it say? did he kill the other children???

  • What do you mean by Emo?

  • You should try reading the novel some time. It's a commentary and criticism of Victorian social mores. Thanks to the social system, Jude is forced to become a manual laborer instead of an academic, despite his intellectual talents. Also, his separation from his skank wife and his life of bliss with his lover are considered scandalous. When his children with his lover are murdered by his son by his wife, his lover feels she is being punished by God, so she then marries a man she doesn't love.

  • haha we just read this in class, and my teacher brought up this video, its so great.

  • this book is excellent, tragic, you can get the audiobook for free at the internet archive, it is hard going though, its not what our society defines as entertainment though, it takes work.

  • The point is not that they are cousins, back then it was completely normal for cousins to get married. It is about what happens when people can't live up to the expectations of a hypocritical society, i. e. They weren't able to get married because both of them already had been married. And the rest of the story is about it, not about them being cousins.

  • @texyjo13 Well, I don't know if I'd say that it was COMPLETELY normal. Jude does make a comment in the book about how it's not good for cousins to get married. But you're right in that it was less taboo than today, and less taboo than the fact that they're both married.

  • Anyone whose son kills himself and all of your other kids officially has the right to be emo. That's not a large demographic, but still.

  • awesome!!!!!! I cant belive you made me laugh.

    your vids rock.

  • you're right about the emo comments, they were kind of emo in the 19th century

  • hilarious commentary, definitely 5 stars to you!

  • fuul movie plase..........

    i willi like this movie.

    1 more time please.

  • what, winslet is nothing like sue in the book! like the emo references tho, very funny, unlike the book which is long and slightly boring!

  • She does play her in the most recent movie version. Do you mean that she's not the sort who would put spiders in her husbands' bed?

  • he,he,he....

  • funny, lovely synopsis indeed lol

  • CUNT PUNCH! thats what thomas hardy deserves for writing the piece of shit calling Jude the Obscure.

  • this book was so awesome, this clip is really stupid. One of the best 19th century works, ever. Hardy was a genius.

  • hardy is a sick fuck. I had to read this and Tess for school. Not fun at all.

  • lol we just finished reading this in English...HILARIOUS rendition ^.^

  • someone slim and sexy? You wouldn't know what beauty was if it stared you in the face! Kate not pretty! Some taste you have!

  • funny!

  • I didn't find the film long or boring.. either way it's good clipping work and showing a ok summary.. though I don't like your comments.. ;)

  • ...and I must say you're fixed on boobs, huh?

  • This is a dark dark Novel about Victorian England. Who is writing the dark dark novels of our era? Who is I ask?

  • That was a lovely synopsis, haha <3

  • they made this into a book awhile ago, its not really the same though. I'm pretty sure they leave bits out in it.

  • They made it INTO a book?

It was FROM a novel written by Thomas Hardy ages before a movie came out about it.

I hope you meant they made it into a FILM instead.

  • I really hope you get some enlightenment since it seems like that's what you lack.

I mean, are you kidding me? Movie was made FROM a classic novel. Nice job showing off your idiocy though, way to go.

  • This movie a little sick, he fucks his girlfriend and cousin in this movie. a little Pimp but sick!!

  • You're right about Hardy. Did you see what he did to poor Tess?!

  • OMFG is that how it ends? So glad I didn't take the time to watch the whole thing then. ROFL EMO INDEED!

  • LMAO!

    Love!

  • And this is retarded

  • I loved Jude the Obscure

  • who could have thought that literature could be so damn sexy and funny... good job you who made this clip, whoever you are...

  • Who's EMO? I remember this movie, the love making scenes are beautiful, the film was well made. Christopher Eccleston is really handsome and sexy.

  • If you're asking how emo one guy could be... Watch Doctor Who season one. Guy fricking lost the rest of his kind in a Time War. Last one, being an emo with emotional problems throughout.

  • Happened to surf upon this clip and found it to be dead funny the way you slapped it together and put in the comments. Never saw the film but I am sure it may have been okay, but if I ever do end up seeing it, I will be laughing remembering your little commentary.

  • LOL this was funnys! Reminds me of those Movies in 15M by CleoLinda on LiveJournal, which you should all go read cuz it is Teh Funny!

  • That was quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen! The movie was traumatizing but this was just hilarious. Not to mention that it was a fair summary! :P

  • so it's about two cousins that are doing it?

Very funny by the way although I did get embarassed by the whole Christopher Eccleston sex thing.

Dude, stop being Emo and go do what you do best - playing the psycho

  • i have read the book and seen the film. neither realy appealed to me though. i prefer catcher in the rye

  • I love the movie and the book, even though the book is WAY too long and the sex scenes in the book aren't obvious at all. Out of nowhere they're having babies, it seems, without comsummating. But either way Thomas Hardy's the shit. Oh and btw HILARIOUS MOVIE. Do that with Tess and I'll worship you!

  • great, I laughed so hard! LOL

you've made a great but rather depressing film very very funny!

  • I read the book and wanted to see the movie. Now that i have seen a little bit of the movie i can say that is WAY different and the emotion is misunderstood. I felt thet you offended Tomas Hardy a little beacuse that is a great novel but, man, IT WAS FUCKING FUNNY HAHA.

  • God job! Funny but still retells the plot...well sort of.

  • It's like I've seen the movie now.

  • I haven't ever commented on a video before and i've been coming to youtube for a while. I'm commenting on yours begging you to abridge more silly movies please! hilarious and entertaining!

  • what did the note say?

  • The note said "Because we are too many." (it's actually misspelled in the child's hand in the film). It was a reference to Jude telling his son that the family would be forced to leave their lodgings because they were "too many."

  • ok, thanks

  • it says "because we are to many" (the word to is actually how the kid spells too)

btw, is it me or does eccleston start laughin at 3:55

  • this is fuckin hilarious lol

i should've seen this video before studying this book

  • You know, I loved this movie. I cried for three weeks after seeing it for the first time, then cried to the soundtrack CD for months longer. But this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Any chance we can get you to do the entire repertory of movies made from Thomas Hardy books?

  • emmmmooooooooooooooooooo!!!

    XD lmao

  • XDDDD LMAOOO!!

  • I guess the movie didn't end with him on his deathbed muttering quotes from the Book of Job like the book did

  • OMG THIS IS SO FUNNNNNYYYYY!!!!

  • You guys rock my world.

Sick fucks around the world, unite!!

  • In tears.

  • owned.

  • This may be the funniest thing I have ever seen on this darn website. Please do some more!

  • Fan-bloody-tastic!

  • ok fine that was quite funny. haha. but still. gosh, what a book. and what the hell, jude's not good looking and has no beard....haha emo.

  • true. And either sue or him were BLONDE

  • that was awesome!!

  • This is by far The Best Thing I Have Ever Seen.
