McCoy AFB, 59-67. As a logistics, I still got to experience exciting moments during alerts with additional duties on the flight line. Strategic Air Command was an 8 yr proud time for me as a young airman. This video brought back good memories. Thanks for sharing.
Miss my SAC! Griffiss and March. Great video! Brought back memories of being hooked up to an F-4 for an hour and a half over the Pacific. Too bad the story didn't go up the chain. Hell, we might've had our names on that Mackay Throphy. Spent time on the '10 too, but the 135 will always be first in my heart! I'll be "passin' gas" till the day I die!
Yep this video brings back memories of Mc Connell AFB in the mid 70s. I did 2 tours on SAC bases, Mc Connell and Griffiss. I chuckle back to those days, for my cohorts in my squadron used to have two sayings, SAC, Peace is our profession, war is our hobby, and also a suck for SAC is a blow for freedom. ;)
I had 21years and three air medals as a boomer. I managed to get over 6000 hours total with almost 980 in KC-97's before going to KC-135's. The best job in the AF. All i did was lay on my belly and pass gas. I was in a squadron with Capt Mark Trail in KC-97's at Otis AFB A long time before he won the McKay trophy.
once again...ground crew ain't work looking at...its a good thing aircrew can manage to do every bit of the work required to meet these missions because otherwise you might think a mechanic was important...
GREAT VIDEO!!
