Horrible fold with JTs. He's not drawing dead and he could be a huge favorite.  Worst case he is against a set which he has 8 outs, best would be against 89s which he has his opponent down to 6 outs. He just crushes his opponents range there.

A range is all the possible hands a player can have in a certain spot. So he raised to $75, and the pot was about $230ish, then he got checked to bet $200, flat called, and the BB raised him all in? Well the BB's range there is pretty wide, because there's $600 in pretty soft money out there.

I have no reads on the BB obviously but for the average 10/20 NL regular, his range should be 55, 77, JJ, 89s, Ax flush draw, AJ, and maybe 68 or T9s.

So basically you then assign a value to each one of those hands. This is just an example and the #s aren't truly this I'm just doing this real quick in my head but:

AJ specific is his most likely holding. Say you have 40% chance of him having AJ, 30% chance of him having trips, and 25% chance he has a draw, and leave 5% to a pure bluff. So he has to call $1100 to win $1700. If he's against Jbetter kicker he's due 40% back of that pot which means he'll break even on this call.

It's actually about 45%, sorry, and he would make $100 on the call. If he's against 89s, he gets 75% of the pot and will make $1000 on the call. And now the only scenario where this call loses money is against trips and he gets $840 back. So he's really only losing $250ish on average if the guy has trips every time there which he doesn't and making money in every other scenario. And you can't just assume he has trips there especially at 10/20 where players can and will bluff sometimes.

All together I'd say the call makes an average of $500 every time you do it which is about 50% return on your investment, which obviously really really good.

Also the point is, if you are folding here, you are very exploitable to bluffs. You have to stand sometimes. Now he's just taking a shot but for meta game purposes you can't lay a hand this big down in this spot because you will be getting bluffed FARRR to often.

tuff fish gives people too much credit. he assumes that anyone who calls his raise must have an ace, therefore, folding to a bet when an ace comes out. sure people call with an ace but theres plenty of other hands they could have. he never bets when an ace comes. he checks, and lets the opponent bet and take it down. he's lost so much $ doing this. Bet the ave on the flop occasionally, maybe you'll take it down. since you raised, they might give u credit for the ace

It was a correct fold, he would be a slight underdog against any higher jack (AJ KJ QJ), plus you can't be sure what the other guy has. Of course, you could call it, but it was a conservative fold. However, I definately would have called for 1000 more though, first of all the guy might try to steal with any pair, second of all you get some nice pot odds.
