We had a female Smooth that at 1st did not understand rodent control, but after live trapping a couple rats & letting her see them scamper around the pen, nature took over. By the time she was 2, she dug out several nest full of the pest, even on neighbor's property. I put her in a locked kennel when I went to work, when I can home I went to let her out & noticed the lock cut & no dog, I asked neighbors, they said a person in a truck stopped by & then left after knocking on door. So be alert!

I had a Smooth Fox Terrier for nearly 16 years. I recently had to make the difficult to decision to put him to sleep due to his age and failing health. He was the best dog I've ever had and miss him terribly. If you want a high energy, hearty, fun loving dog, I highly recommend one. The puppy stage can be challenging though. Be sure the dog knows who is in charge. Great dogs.

@eighteenpars my smooth fox terrier is 16 also and I count everyday as a bonus that we still have with her. She is still up for a walk although at a slower pace now. She is totally deaf but otherwise is good health. These little guys have so much energy and they entertain us non stop. I know you will have many happy memories of your wonderful dog. I wouldn't have any other breed.

I have a smooth fox named Daphne. She's all white except her pointy black head, we call it her helmet. She's so sweet! I've had terriers for years but by far my little fox is the smartest. She's so responsive, she'll play with her reflection in the mirror and try and talk with other dogs on tv. I couldn't ask for a better little lady :3

Mine is a mini foxie X Jack Russell. But looks very similar to this dog, and acts identically. She's so much fun, no obedience... ahaha. Only for food. Great companionship though, she hates when people are angry or sad so she turns on the entertainment and voila!

Hi there,i have a Fox Terrier Dog his name Browny and as all of you said they are very cute, smart and funny but the problem his 4 years old and every time i take him for a walk i dont dare to release him cause he attack other pets and sometimes people, is there any solution to avoid his i mean am i still able to train him... thanks

my friend's FT bullies ALL our dogs, including two large GRs, a Boxer, a Rottie..and even a ST Bernard...they are simply the "little Hitler of Dogs"

he got put in Doggie Prison for a few days for biting a woman last year...seriously Hong Kong has a "doggie jail" for these type of "first offenders"..I'll ask my wife later and get the details of his "incarceration"...

What a surprise to seem my own Smooth Fox Terrier, Quasar, on YouTube. The lady and the man doing earthdog are Qua's breeders. We made this video back in 2001 and the Wire and Smooth running around the pool are my dogs! Of course, I LOVE Fox Terriers - Smooth & Wire.

Ihave owned Doberman, AMerican Bulldogs, Maltese, English bulldog, and Fox terrier, the Fox terrier are the smartest dog ever and Very trainable..mine would jump of my knee andcatch frizbies. Easy to care for.

i heard there good at ratting so i got one to use ratting and ground hogs i could get him to do nothing ihad a dog trainer try nothing so i had him put down i got a small pitt wooooooow he kill rats and ground hogs he work that hole all day till he gets them woooow the best dog ever

Fox Terriers are great little dogs.I have one and he is a blast. Call him Jack. Short for Captain Jack Sparrow lol. If that doesn't explain a little about his personality nothing will!

Go comment on the lakeland terriers breed all about it site. you don't have put down this breed or others. Fox Terriers and Jack Russells are amazing dogs I have one of each and would not trade them for your breed! The Fox Terrier is a breed made for getting the Fox, Hence the name FOX TERRIER.

lakeland terriers,scottish style are a much better,entertainin dog than the yank fox terrier,more tough and nuts to bargain,the yanks dont like red or liver wots that all about. good lakey will drag a fox out a hole by the face and pound for pound is a better terrier than a jack russell,believe me,i have one of each.scottish lakeys rule.up ye
