  • Wise! I'm a frugal housewife in a family of 6 here in the Lone Star state as well. Homesteading regardless of our living situation has been a blessing in our savings. Having egg-layers and a large varied garden has proven to reduce grocery bills. Harvesting rain water, recycling grey water for outdoor water needs except for consumption, and composting have been great lessons to learn. Saving condiments from fast food outings is one way we save $. The things that aren't taught in school. ;)

  • My perspective and what others should understand

buying feminine packets = steady sex....

I mean only a long time girlfriend or wife would make you do that.... And if she needs that shes not pregnant and is still good to go =P

  • We recently bought a small 500w heater for each room (under $20 each) so we can Only heat the rooms that are being used and completely turned off our central air. We also bought a few cheap accordion style doors (also under $20 each) to section off and isolate parts of the house that are not used as much. We are noticing a savings of about $30-$50 a month! Note: we live in North Carolina were in the winter months its anywhere from 35-50*F in the daytime and below freezing just about every night.

  • very good videos very thoughful man!! keep up the good work buddy!!

  • i can't wait until the end comes, there are so many people praying for it, even though people have been predicting the end for 10,000 years, i am sure you guys are right this time

  • Excellent video with a lot of good idea's, make sure to keep a pump action pellet rifle for your dove and other small bird hunting. this will eliminate the need to use ammo that could otherwise be used for defense. no CO2 but pump action. May the Lord continue to Bless you and your Family !!! Kory

  • good lookin out, its like what business people rock

  • Love the Video's Can you make a Solar soda can heater. I Live up In The Cold need Help HeaTING

  • I must say I'm VERY surprised to see a young MAN doing this kind of video, lol. I love it! I have never met anyone so concerned with saving money. I am very frugal myself and because of that (and having a full time job) I am able to take a couple of vacations each year. I have done exchanges with people like offering room in my home in exchange for help with childcare and housekeeping. I get free childcare for a very minimal extra cost (utilities), compared to the alternative. Thanks :)

  • yeah my wife and i are allergic to cheap detergent, we just dilitue everything

  • I wonder if that detergent would work in my HE washer?

  • @MedicPat it dose you just have to use less

  • Harvest seeds

  • hope your family appreciates all that; amazing stuff man

  • Good tips and thanks for the links. I haven't seen your electricity video yet but one thing I have done to save on electricity is to pour my coffee into a thermal carafe after I make it. Most people don't realize that an electric coffee maker uses 1,000 watts of electricity to brew the coffee and keep it warm. If you leave it on for 2 hours that's 2,000 watts. Over the course of a year that is a LOT of electricity. Thanks again for the tips.

  • Baking soda and coconut oil make great deodorant and if you make it a little looser and add cinnamon, it makes GREAT toothpaste. Cinnamon is a natural whitener and it makes the toothpaste a little easier to put in your mouth.

  • also, making your own cleaners, with baking soda and vinegar. Great Allpurpose cleaner. think it cleans better than any store bought cleaner. Also, don't have to store it premade. pretty much, just pour a little baking soda on your counter and spray vinegar on the counter and scrub. GREAT grease cutter. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.

  • using Dial soap instead of felsnaphta. Dial is cheaper and its great for skin. I make this recipe in dry form. Easier, just grate the bar of soap and stir the powders together. you don't have to store as much and you only use 1 tsp a load. Easy Easy stuff!

  • get your wife to buy a 'moon cup' for feminine hygiene ..eco friendly and saves you money.

  • Dont buy feminine hygene products that use world resources/trees/paper..buy a 'MOON CUP' which is economic and saves the trees..be eco friendly!! Search 'Moon Cup'!

  • Four loads of washing a day??? Our family washes clothes ONCE A WEEK...ware your clothes a few days and save water, energy and world resources!

  • I have never heard of Fels Naptha or can find it anywhere even on Ebay, also Borax ? What about people not in the USA where items are so cheap such as Europe/UK ?

  • @gotulip Most grocery stores carry it in the laundry section. It's great stuff! I don't use Fels Naptha though. I use a bar of dial soap. I price checked and Dial is cheaper than Fels Naptha. Just don't get it with and added moisturizers.

  • become what I call "survivalist couponer" I stockpile food and non food items for the possibility of a shortage. I don't pay for toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, dish soap, cleaners, body wash, cereal, pasta, rice, laundry detergent, razors and much more all with coupons and I have a good stockpile so I don't have to worry that my family will be without. also today I made a huge donation of foods that needed to be rotated out of my stockpile. it works.

  • just read in a book about fugal living, and washing your clothes in cold water actually helps get your clothes clean without using a crazy amount of heat. 90% of energy used in a washer is from the heating of the water believe it or not. Also what i do to buy personal products is play the "drugstore game" where you can buy items that are on sale and use coupons and get store credit back mostly, I have a stockpile of things so I will never have to pay full price most of the time its free

  • I'm going to take everything this man taught me and I'm going to use it to help me rob a bank and stay low key and off the grid for a while. Am I a genius or what? Lol

  • Good info. Really appreciate it. Another place to get the super washing soda is Ace Hardware. Ivory soap can be substituted for the fels-naptha bar. In an emergency, maxi pads can make great bandages. In terms of cleaning and sanitizing, clorox bleach is very effective and very cheap. Dilute with water. Replacement ink cartridges are a major rip off. I have saved hundreds on refilling my own ink cartridges. There are Youtube videos on how to do this.

  • @colsamanthacarter1...run out through the lateral lines. So i hope this information answered your ???. Also @awarepatriot...i will be sending you a message if i can figure out how to. I have a few ???

  • @colsamanthacarter1...Most of your toilet papers are septic tank safe...infact the things you hear about it not being tank safe are mostly BS propaganda to make you buy more expensive papers. I was a plumber for 4 years and never once did i unclog a drain or anything for that matter that was caused by regular use of TP. Now if you are worried about it being an issue, and over time all of it is an issue, they do make septic tank chemicals that break down all the materials in there and allow it to

  • No offense, but I find this guy's voice to be very annoying LOL Good information though.

  • varey helpful.....

  • Can anyone who is commenting on here who has used this toilet paper tell me whether or not it is septic tank safe. I emailed the company, no response. I left a comment concerning this 2 days ago, no response. I would like to order this if it is septic tank safe, so an answer to my question would be so appreciated. Thanks.

  • That's a lot of ass wipin'

  • Is this type of toilet paper septic tank safe? I have emailed the people that sell this and I still have not received a response.

  • Four loads of laundry a DAY? Here's a tip - don't wash shirts every time, don't wash jeans for a month and PJ's don't have to be washed everyday either. Just socks and underwear need to be washed, and if you have enough pairs, you don't have to put them in the wash everyday. Even towels don't have to be washed after every shower - you are drying a CLEAN body.

  • My step father lived during the depression. He used the Sears and Roebuck catalog.

  • corn cobs work well

  • maxi pads are useful for compression bandages...

  • you dont need toilet paper all you need is water and a clean cloth. People did it this way for 1000's of years lol. And of course wash your hands well afterwards :)

  • @k1a1t1h1y1 you are absolutely right. The same with sanitary pads. Homemade and they were placed in a bucket of water with a little bleach in it. Where there were several, then rinsed and boiled then hung out to dry.

If you google it, there is a pattern available to make reusable sanitary pads. Save hundreds of dollars on them pricy little things.

  • I make my own beef jerky and save bundles of cash! It taste better also.

  • chlidren are up so we got a sitting on cheap cause they really dont have to do anything with the children its just to have someone there mainly. 60 dollaer a week for 5 kids and 8 hours it a steal. U will also be surpise how much the litle thing for kids make a big difference.I put up cute lil reminder for my kids around the home works wonders. we can always find way to save money with out going to the extreem, Anything else anyone can ask me I love to help others.

  • this help with cooking time and over eating. make sure u have a balanced meal and portion up with veggies not other things. my crock pot is my best friend me and my hubby work over night so when we get home we walks the kids to shcool I meal our meal time on the crock pot and my rice cooker if need be and rest save money and quick and easy.working over night has also help with baby sitting all my children are in bed when the sitter come and both me and my hubby are home by the time the

  • thinks like paper towels toliet paper disposable diapers( grand ma use only lol) and thinks like that. we as use club card to everyshop we can around the holidays it come in handle with thing like free tukeys and thing like that. with club card we also have save 80 cent to $1 off the gal when we fill up. I have endless ideas to save money i been doing for years.Food wise anything like oil or dry spices and think like that i get a dollartree . I shop around for meat then portion it off before

  • I agree lets get over it its not that big of a deal! I personal go to dollartree for my female item and alot of house hold items and save myself a alot of money family being a family of 7 it helps. Dollar tree is my helper!! cloth diapering has also saved me alot of money 5 kids is alot of diaper changing and alot of money! the company i work for gives gift cards to super market 4 time a year me and my hubby both work for the same company so we get a good 200 or so that wat we use to get

  • My grandma makes her own laundry detergent like you showed, but she uses a dry version made in a food processor. You don't need much of it, either. Like, two tablespoons per load.

  • Who needs paper holder? I will save $9.00 and just leave it out. I wet it anyway, cause it cleams better.

  • I will use old shirts

  • An idea for you.

After having a bath (or shower above bath...leave the plug in!) , Leave the water in the bath & use this "grey water" to flush the WC/Toilet.

News Update from Northern Ireland, due to recent cold weather resulting in burst MAINS water pipes, THOUSANDS of people have been without water for almost 2 weeks. Get ready all

  • Also, as far as the feminine needs you could also make your own from flannel material. There are several different styles. You can also purchase material ones online if you don't sew yourself. They clear up a lot of the PMS-y symptoms by eliminating chemicals that get absorbed in sensitive areas. These can be rinsed in the sink and washed by machine, or by hand. Stains can be held in check by putting some peroxide on the pads. There are also tampon alternatives as well.

  • I use home made wipes that I started making for my cloth diapered babies. Nothing is more icky than picking disposable wipes out of cloth diapers. 1 yard of flannel material cut in several succession of halves and zig zagged around the edges these go in the diaper bucket, and get bleached every load. We also put a quart jar in our toilet tank to help save water - 1 gallon every four flushes.

  • Of all the shtf vids I've seen, yours are the most interesting and easy to watch.

  • I don't wipe. I go harvest moon because that's just how I roll.

  • My husband and I use mint alcohol in a spray bottle as deodorant. Bacteria on the skin is the cause of odor so the alcohol kills the bacteria and viola, no odor. It is cheap and doesn't stain our clothes. It's also safer than using commercial deodorant which contains several harmful substances.

  • does your wife know you showed her 250 pack of tampons to youtube?

  • @twetteroff123 LOL, not tampons, maxi pads.

Everybody needs to get over it. There are more women than men on this planet.

That means over half the population of the planet uses some type of feminine products. LOL. Us guys are in the minority.

But to answer your question, yes she knows and doesn't care. hahaha hilarious question though.

  • @awarepatriot okay first off i'm a girl and were all adults okay, your wife should look into buying diva cups moon cups and other "monthly cups" they save you money. i'm looking into it. i heard it lasts for 10+ if you take care of it.

  • The moon cup works great, totally affordable, easy to care for...

  • @awarepatriot Yes thanks to endocrine disrupters, also known as gender bending chemicals. Out of the thousands of different formulas for plastics we use the two that have BPA, a chemical found in 81% of men with low sperm count. Also parabens in shaving creme... These chemicals are resulting in more girls being born, and boys with deformed genitals, including micro penises, and non descending testicles, YIKES. Animals are affecting by this even more, tranny Alaskan Polars, bald eagles, etc...

  • @awarepatriot Hey man, I wanted to throw this out here as an idea for toilets. Composting toilets are available and with these you need no septic or sewer system, very little to no water, and very little to no electricity, depending on the model and type you want. The one that i'm leaving a video link to is modern and top of the line. You can see the demonstration in the video. Youtube search Envirolet 101: Envirolet FlushSmart VF to find the video. I can't link to it on comments.

  • @LibertyFilms4You just shit in a bucket and fling it out the back door!

  • @awarepatriot Honestly, I can’t stand cheap toilet paper! Like the big roll you showed. Personally it smears my crap more than pick it up lol! I need the rigged soft paper that actually grabs more poo instead of sharing with the rest of my ass…

  • @twetteroff123 Pads make good wound dressings as well.

  • Great video. I really like the home made laundry detergent idea. I have saved a lot of money using a mix of 30% white vinager with 70% water to do most of my cleaning. I also use the same dilution with bleach instead of the vinager. These are products that our grandmothers used to clean their homes. They are much cheaper and safer than the poison being sold as household cleaners.

  • when grocery shopping chech your area for an aldi, they have eggs for .50 cents a dozen and milk for $.99 a gallon an stuff like that

  • My wife and I buy loads of stuff at yard sales and save tons of money. You must get up early on Saturdays is the only draw back. Great videos, keep up the good work. God Bless.

  • I stopped buying paper towels years ago. I use terry dish clothes and newspaper. And I stopped buying paper napkins and use cloth. They clean better too.

  • I have the same shower head and I think it works great. It doesnt even feel like less water comes out of it.

  • your time is 9-11

  • Great info. Thanks for sharing. Just found you on YT & subbed! Must catch up with all of your other vids, but still looking forward to any new ones!

    Peace & Prayers!

  • I got a gallon jug of Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds - it's all natural and can be used for everything! I dilute it in the spray bottle for cleaning, only 1 1/2 teasp. per gallon of water is great for mopping floors. Also a great dish soap or laundry soap.

  • @Rockerchic4God hi : ) i'm preparing too you have any suggestions for all natural stuff. this guy is great and everything but i don't want anything toxic. oh yeah have you heard of diva cups?

  • Good video thank you.

  • To dispose of human waste in a safe and easy way, do a search on humanure and the Loveable Loo. You can compost human waste. All you need is a bucket/toilet, sand paper to keep away odor from toilet, a 4'x4'x4' compost bin, and straw. There will be no offensive odors and the waste does not get into the environment. All you need is a back yard to build the compost bin.

  • where can i buy the large rolls of toilet paper?

  • @chaineychainaman google "jumbo toilet paper roll".

  • @awarepatriot thanks

  • @awarepatriot Free from McDonnalds LOL

  • @awarepatriot Coreless rolls of tp are even better. They are just as big but have more paper. You store more in the same space.

  • @awarepatriot are there better brands to get than others? btw your comment/joke at 7:22 made me LOL. thanks for all the work you do in making videos.

  • @chaineychainaman staples or any office supply store

  • @cheska576 Hey, thanks for the info. I will check it out.

  • The soap thing is awesome

  • The soap thing is awsome

  • Good video. I typically stock pile so I can replace only when on sale. I am afraid to try the laundry detergent . What the heck you sold me . I will let you know what I think.

  • Costco has a phenomenal return policy. I buy a new air conditioner every summer and I return it in the fall. So I get to use the AC and only pay for the electric and transportation to and from Costco.

I have also borrowed other items from them and return it after I am done with it. I don’t look at it as purchasing an item, but leaving a deposit until I return it.

I believe you may return something up to 2 years or longer and up to 90 days on electronic goods. Its they’re rules not mine.

  • As far as the toilet, get the high suction with a 1.6 tank, but most importantly, in my family......"If it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down". Also, one of the major power hogs is the dryer. You need to keep the exhaust pipe clean and replace it so now and then. I have a long vent, so I use my lawn blower, disconnect the vent at the dryer side, tape the blower to the vent, and blow 200MPH through that mama.

This will save you so much money..I know, believe me.

  • There is a shower head made by Peerless and is called the "water amplifying shower head". It is not one of those little ones, but regular size and mixes air with water. It takes a little over 2 gallons for a shower for me. I use this with an on/off valve, because I never use 100% power. This valve costs 9 bucks or less in WalMart. Most important, this shower head feels great.

  • Boy thanks 4 all the great info :)

  • cont... Also it should be noted that Sgt. Bell once told me that Arabs just used their right hand, then cleaned it off. Thus is was considered taboo to shake their right hand.

  • @wildernessshouter When we lived in Indonesia, you always kept bottles with water next to the toilet. There is no toilet paper. Take a bottle and run it along your very low back and with the other, wash yourself, then wash your hands. They say this gets you cleaner than toilet paper. Takes a bit getting used to, but once you do, you will never go back to paper.

  • @nld1960 Ah.. interesting. =) I'm just sharing info man, thanks for the reply.

  • @wildernessshouter I guess I was a little over exited. We have saved so much money on utilities per mo/yr. I love sharing them.

Sgt.Bell was right about that. I believe the nomadic Arabs still do that.

  • I love these videos, I also like roadwarriors vids. Here are some things of interest on this subject. Not so much for conventional living, but good to know. In the woods I have used giant maple leaves, they worked great. My Grandmother who grew up in poverty in rural Kentucky, said that they used corn cobs to wipe themselves with. She said they used the plentiful rough red ones first, then finished with the yellow type everyone is used to today. They where softer and such.

  • Glad to see that I'm not insane about thinking about the future, hell my wife is starting to think along the same lines I am, Jacksonville,fl is starting to become more and more slum like in a good bit of its area, and the main downfall hasn't even begun yet, Keep the spirits up and good luck.

  • The imminent, inevitable economic collapse implies much more than a depression followed by financial rebirth. We are the last generation of humans on Earth!

    .

    youtube com/watch?v=rlQrYCacrKo

  • Question about the laundry detergent...is it hypoallergenic? I have kids who are REALLY allergic to soaps and need only the "free and clear" kind. Thanks for any info!

  • Might want to keep in mind when the dollar crashes scrap will become much more valuable than it is now. Plastics, metals, glass, and pretty much all recyclables that aren't worth messing with now except to be green will be worth separating and selling to scrap yards. May even be worth going through neighbors trash and salvaging the stuff at illegal dump sights if you know were there at.

  • A fellow YT er shared you with me. we were JUST talking about this, right down to the Fels Naptha.

Major appliances, replacement. Buy USED search out the repair history & likes and dislikes. Some are like Yugo's (remember them?) While others are like Honda's, built to last a decade or more. Why buy a new car or a washing machine?

Rain barrels, free or nearly so, look for cast off water softener salt brine tanks, 55 gal drums from food companies (blue or white)

Join or create a freecycle group

  • Turned off the central installed 3 window units. We had a drop of 842KWH from last year for July we went from $6.60/83 KWH a day to $4.25/51KWH. I knew we were using less electricity but I had no Idea that it was this.Summer is when we use the most electricity.Winter we use electric blankets and matress warmers heat only when we shower or its burr cold.Try to use the oven to bake when it's cold to get dual use out of our electricity smells great having a turkey baking bread or brownies.

  • great info!...i buy a cleaning concentrate called simple green...works great and safe to use....i use baking soda as a cleanser....like softscrub it will no scratch your surfaces and great for getting stains out...i buy it in the humongo bags...very cheap..just take a small jar (like a mason jar) punch some holes in the lid and fill...i keep one next to the kitchen sink and in all my bathrooms...tkx for the links...

  • your family must have been high class...mine had to use the sears catalog...lol

  • Wheres the best place to buy bulk feminine hygiene products?

  • Comment removed

  • what about cloth? we use cloth everything! (except #2 wipe) cloth tp feels better, cloth to blow your nose = no nose rash when you're sick, cloth napkins = lighter cycles and less cramping, cloth diapers are virtually free after a few months of use. it doesn't require lots of new skills, I wash all mine in the washing machine, dirty diapers get an additional wash, but are still cheaper. the added benefit of these is the reduction of waste products to deal with, which will pay off too.

  • We save by buying things and stocking them so we dont run out (wally 12miles sams 30 round trip)people don't realize the money they spend at c stores My mom spent thousands at them running out of things that you can buy plenty of like mayo eggs bread (freeze b4 go bad use for toast) bannas (freeze when get soft make smoothies) Don't drink/ Smoke big wealth wound. I buy used clothes when possible when I buy new I get sale items.Know the price of things to the ounce grits 14cpo coffee 26cpo.

  • We bought a place that cost 32K we paid it off in 8 years did so because I have such a bad attitude if I feel something needs to be said or done I say or do it and usually care less for the consequence I have gotten better but it is so hard to conform to the system. I watch videos of how many US are homeless (HL) and it is staggering to see HL camps where there are people that don't abuse substance or have no criminal record nor are mentally unstable. Priority #1 OWN YOUR LIFE save your money.

  • @cdltpx We plan to use your ideas they make sense. Things I have done to save money are I make tea to drink I use a pickle jar on the stove to brew a gallon at a time. I have gallon to drink another in jar to be mixed. Eat @home taters are innexpensive just have the stuff to mix great tasting food. Entertainment NETFLICKS we watch movies online and have one mailed 3x a week. Make list plan meals and cook outside in summer. Use pressure cooker quick meals. Always have a loaf of bread.

  • @cdltpx Do your own yard work. Change your own oil. Check your car tires weekly. When you go to store have a list evaluate things you can buy in bulk cook in bulk store meals in ready to go zip lock bags some days we will cook 4 meals big meals same time kitchen buzy then store the food saves money time etc. Huge spaghetti sauce, Cook a turkey in pressure cooker then toss it in oven great taste.Roast gravy, You may wish to buy sides of beef a pig etc stocking freezer is great money saver.

  • Coke sells 55 gallon barrels where you can capture rainwater I got them for $10 ea bought 11 of them since they were so cheap thought I better get all I can because that lessens the cost for the trip to the botteling co. There are folks online that show how to set this up. You could set the barrels up to use on your toilet garden set them up for a solar shower all you do is set up a collection method gravity fed no brains required. Water is the most important thing you will ever need in life.

  • to any one that has a wood stove or oven with glass door. use a dispossable paper towel or piece of newspaper. make it wet. dab into the white ash of the fire (only works well with wood ash) and wipe the glass. the potash makes easy cleaning of the creosote. wipe clean with a damp towel/piece of newspaper.

  • white vinigar and alcohol(i think you call it heet!?) 5050 cleans all types of surfaces especialy glass. makes them basicaly fat free. and its antiseptic. for the people who dont have enought money for a new toilet, get an old plastic container milk or juice fill it with water (a bit of sand is also good) then place it in the free space of the water box over the toilett. automatic water saving every flush at no cost. a warning to all dont overdo the water saving.or waste pipes will get blocked.

  • Nice vid. Just watched your raw vid and would be interested to hear more about your diet and recipes. I've been into it about 80% and have been doing it over a month and have made a few vids over it.

  • Remember Night of The Living Dead? Would have been cool to see them lobbing rolls of paper like that torched at the zombies. Maybe be a new use for toilet paper.

  • Great video, . Thanks.

  • Dr bronners Castile soap... I use it for everything. Wash your hair, body, babies, dogs, floors (make a solution recipes online) use it to shave, make face wash, wash delicate clothes with it. It's organic, biodegradable, free trade and it works great. I get it at target for around $10 but I bet you could buy it in bulk somewhere. It has saved me alot by not having to buy so many different products.

  • I have that shower head and it's great, and only $5

  • Charlies Soap is the best most economical soap I have come across and I've been doing laundry for 35 years. I buy a 5 gal pale for 160.00 and it last my family of 4 adults 1 baby 14 months. So one time a year I purchase Charlies Soap, gets EVERYTHING out, wine grape juice blood grass stains grease. Free shipping too. If interested go to wwwdotcharliessoapdotcom.

  • I save on razor blades.I buy a bag of Bic classic single blade razors. You know the yellow ones with the hollow handle that we used to use as a whistle. They used them in the 60s & 70s. You can still get them now, even online. You can buy a bag for next to nothing. Those blades are so sharp and so well made, they just don't get dull. You have to get the original ones. I am using one now that I have used for over 6 month. No lie. The only thing is that you have to watch it, they are very sharp.

  • There is a way you can save on soap. You can buy these small nets with a string on it. They sell them in Kmar, Walm for a 2-$3. You put a bar of soap in it and close if off. It lathers up immediately and you scrub yourself down. It feels great, the netting is really good material. I use 1 bar to my wife's 20 bars. No lie! Just get it wet and you are ready to unlike a wash cloth. When my wife gets to a little piece of soap, I just add it to my net.

  • They have shut-off valves that fit just above your shower head. If you turn it off, it allows a trickle, so that you don't loose your temp. When you lather up or shampoo your hair, just shut off the valve.Showers take the most water. That will cut it in half. I use 2-3 gallons for a shower

There is also a shower head made by Pearless called an Amplifying shower head.Mixes air with water and is large, not one of those tiny ones.It is unbelievable.I got mine in WalM for $9.

  • I only use hot water to clean pots and panns. Works well

  • I make a powdered detergent with 1 Bar Ivory soap- finely grated, 1 Cup Borax, 1 Cup Washing Soda. Use 1Tbsp per load. Works fine in a HE machine. Add 1/4 cup vinegar in place of fabric softener. Don't worry, you don't smell the vinegar when the wash is done ^_^

  • Great tips!

From some research I did on that homemade laundry detergent, washing soda is more caustic than baking soda and may damage some rubber/plastic parts in washing machines. Baking soda may not clean as well but it's safer to handle and cheaper to use. Just something to consider. I also use mine in powder form, about 1/8 of a cup for a large load. One shredded bar of soap, 2 cups of Borax and 2 cups of baking soda. Been using this all year. Much cheaper and better than store stuff. :)

  • @VivianRinSC ...also stock up on plain white vinegar. Works great for all sorts of things and it's safe for the environment.

  • well done patriot....thanks for sharing this well needed info. I tried this recipe for the wash...and it works pretty good.

  • Thanks - great info as always!

  • wow all you guys are so cheap XD

  • Hello AwarePatriot. Thanks for the many videos.....it has been very helpful in my intense prep work. My question is one that most of us are perhaps experiencing......that is, "How do we communicate our deep concerns to other family members and friends who are clueless, and without them resenting us and thinking we are crazy?" I find that most Americans are running around with their blinders on, and it is very hard to talk to them. Can I email you directly to discuss?

  • @crazeyspivey Sure just message me here on youtube. ;o)

  • where did you get that roll of toilet paper

  • @HumanAccount Link in info box. Buy 12 rolls of it for 43 bucks (that includes tax & shipping).

These are 2000ft rolls X 12 = 24,000 ft. of TP LOL. That's MILES of TP!

  • @awarepatriot Could tell a friend and go in halves on a mile of tp. But then what friends today locally would even consider saving money? $ is for like he said wiping your ass.(that is until you really need it and find you are about to use your camping equipment for your residence.) After they are living on the side of the freeway they recount how they had it big payperview events they could have done without all the game they went to buying thousands in christmas gifts all on the future.

  • Thank you for the great vids.

  • @kturn77 Appreciate you watching.

  • Thanks for the tips

  • I like the home detergent it saves money and works really well. I can't get family members on board but even with me just using it, it cuts down on our trips for commercial product. Thanks for the great video.

  • @freemutant Family members on board.... sigh... I know exactly where you are at. No matter how much I tell them about some of this stuff... They don't listen.

  • poo, my moms family used newspaper and catalogs LONG after the depression. of course, their parents were right in the middle of the Great Depression...

  • @alleycatalog hahahha.... If you get brave one day give it a shot & lemme know. I was thinking the white pages may make some good TP if you crumpled it up hundreds of times.

  • @awarepatriot i think yeah, newspaper and white pages crumpled up might be alot softer than a glossy magazine

  • @awarepatriot I would use other things for tp but would have to insist on using a trash can placed outside the bathroom window to throw the paper for fear of clogging the line. Or drill a hole in the wall by the crapper and have a little door to open where you can toss the paper in the trash out side who would want doodo paper in the house why walk through the house showing off your new smell.

  • i could never figure out why women wont buy that stuff ahead of time...if i got to do an oil change this week, I will buy the stuff on wednesday...of course, lately my wife comes home from shopping and I cant figure out why she doesnt have a master list to work off of...you know, an excel sheet....stuff she buys or needs to check everyweek...then she gets mad when I suggest one...do i argue? no

  • @billyjoebobway hahahah LOL. I know man... I know... We just bought the bulk box. Arrives at the door, no need to buy for a year. ;o)

  • Bags of lime for the composting toilet that lampajoo mentioned might be a good buy, I guess once the mains water goes off we will back to an outhouse situation. I would say also make a fresnel lens with a 4 direction stand from a pre flatscreen tv screen, just add some sunshine, it can boil up some water pretty quickly to reduce gas bills and preserve propane tank levels once the mains gas supply goes off. Perhaps make a solar dehydrator for the fruits of your garden and solar oven as well?

  • @reefcut Yes.. I need to make a video on some of this stuff. Thanks.

  • If you don't have low water toilets, toss a brick or two in the tank in the back and it tricks the toilet into thinking the tank is full when it's really not.

  • @ROFLpwnedvideos Yes. This is a great tip. It's a good one that I didn't mention.

  • Awarepatriot, your videos are just as ecxiting if not more than those gun and ammo action videos. I am a diesel mechanic and get very dirty (realy realy dirty) and I have been using laundry detergent instead of shampoo. I don't want to recommend to anyone because you may have sensitive skin but, I have been using it for years with absolute no side effects.

I use this mexican brand "Ariel" I find it so strong we even use a cup in the mop bucket and lifts up the floor grease at the shop.

  • @torkjoy1 Nice ;o) I can't imagine how dirty you must get, but I've on numerous occasions had transmission fluid and oil coating my ENTIRE body. I bathed in fast orange. haha. I'll look into Ariel. Thanks.

  • composting toilets don't use _any_ water

  • @lampajoo Absolutely. I need to build a composting toilet.

  • These are some excellent tips

Making husbands buy female sanitary products should become a form of punishment for bad behaviour!

  • @NylaRossini hahaha... I think it is a punishment. I get into a lot of mischief with my kids & my wife rolls her eyes a lot. I think she gets back at me that way... I'll find out & let you know LOL.

  • I don´t konw, if you have these great things in USA: factory shops.

You can get things cheaper there, and sometimes even things, that are not seen at shop shelves.

  • ...everybody is looking at you stupid, while you just feel abandoned by all society...

Classic awarepatriot line for the ages...

  • Great vid! I've been making our laundry soap for about 8 years now to. I used to make the liquid but switched to the powdered one. We love it, works very well. I've got to see if a store up here sells the jumbo TP rolls! Looks like that could save us a lot to. :)

  • @HomesteadAcres I'm going to check out the powdered next time. Only issue is the washer we have takes liquid, but I could always just dump a cup in the load before I turn it on. (front loader). Thanks my friend.

  • @awarepatriot just dumping a cup in the front load might be a waste of time. it probly has a prewash or a presoak function. i do all my washes with cold water. except bedding and towels. it works just as well.

  • "Real Men don't use the fluffy stuff" and "you don't have to change the roll for a long time", LOL!

  • short shower after BM very economical, ....fresh!!

  • @electriman77 LOL!!!!!

  • just wait after you go to take a shower and your toilet paper free! very refreshing too

  • awesome video! This "not as interesting as guns and ammo" videos are the most important!

  • very good video
