quietwolf11 is probably right about the song's meaning. It is about recovering from the past (resting, passing old emotions away) and waking up to true reciprocal love...at least that is what it means to me.
Tom basically said at one of the concerts that I went to that Bend and Break is about getting drunk and... um, well yeah, you know. He was more blunt when he stated it though!
It feels like a guy has met someone he likes, and is still hurting from a past relationship that hurt him. But he will meet her in the morning anyway because he is wanting to start all over again with someone new. He is waking up to a real love.
