Wow, this was my first instructional video..I still use alot of these practice routines, today. It's still amazing to me..He is def one of the best...Rock on Vinnie..
I wish, my playing was like that. Writing is my thing the songs just pop into my head but finding the cords. that baffles me. This guy knows scales and all the jazz. How do you play like that?. This guys got my respect. Here is the thing can he make a rift that people want to hear?. I 'm not that good but I got a couple. Your an outstanding guitarist. Create.
Oh the memories. I actually learned a lot from this video... then, forgot it all when I stopped caring about shredding. Nothing wrong with shredding, it's great, but I'll leave it up to guys who are GOOD at it. I was only ever "decent". Would rather be a riffmachine, than a shredmeister.
I wish Vinnie still sounded this good. He sounds like someone trying to play Vinnie now instead of himself. I wish he'd go back to his old picking technique
@clovis2012 I think he was forced to change his picking technique because his arm was messed up. I heard him talking about it in some video. I wish I could rip like that for just one day
Anyone remember a Vinnie Moore Guitar Player Magazine “Sound Page" from the mid-to-late 1980s? Specifically, I'm thinking of the one on which he demonstrates arpeggios. He starts out playing them ridiculously sloppy. Next you hear a pause then Vinnie says, "Just kidding." He then proceeds to shred into next week. Classic.
@lyrrad999 Definitively the Phrygian scale. I love this scale. Or mixolydian, harmonic, phyrgiian diminished, hirajoshi, pentatonic, blues...you could shred with any scale.
i just know blues minor major pent. and major scale...but i just use the pentatonic because i can only create blues solo..can scales mix together ex. blues major pentatonic and major scale?
There are many guitar guys here in youtube as well in the real world, guitar9-online magazine was always a good spot to search for "hidden" virtuosos, but Vinnie has a special technique really i think noone can refuse this.
I like many names but Vinnie is different I dont know.
BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied
I just saw Vinnie play last night and he blew my mind, also got him to sign my guitar really nice guy and awesome player.....one of the best around......
Vinnie is not really a very tall person... but the truth is he is a GIANT among guitar players. I have seen him many times and he remains a pivotal guy in what most guys would like to schieve in rock guitar. Melodic, Fast and an awesome writing machine.
Japanese people always tell me "Blackmore is the father of Heavy Metal music".
No, he isn't. The original heavy metal guitarist was none but Jimi Hendrix. Blackmore is the most influential person for another genre "shred guitar". That's for sure.
You can see why people would say Blackmore, what with the leather jacket, the bad attitude, heavy riffs, and the fast solos. Pretty much the archetype of heavy metal...
The same goes for Tony Iommi, the real father of metal.
But Jimi Hendrix. The man conjures images of bright colours, peace, love, fuzz, and cannabis.
Sure his playing was loud and wild, but his lyrics were not. Metal simply hadn't been created.
This idea that everything starts and ends with Hendrix is nonsense.
@ExtremeBogom "Heavy Metal Music was born when Jimi recorded Foxy Lady" -Judas Priest's guitarist. The word "Heavy Metal" was first used by Rock journalism in an article about JH Experience concert. I still respect your opinions and I can agree with some of your points. cheers
@ExtremeBogom I'm talking about the founder, the guy who initiated the process of Heavy Metal evolution. The terminology "heavy metal" was originally made to describe Jimi's performance, nothing else. Youtubers say Iommi, but I've got Judas Priest guitarist and Yngwie Malmsteen on my side, lol
This guy is definetly in my top 20 guitarists. It sounds not so good but when mixed up with Hendrix, Yngwie, Iommi, Buckethead, Dave Murray etc. you must be fucking great to match. I love his 80s albums, among the best beautiful shred guitar ever.
That's more than one fro. Fuck it's like a fro for each surface on his head. Just goes to show that picking as clean as this is only achieved through massive 80's hair

rainriders 8 months ago
@rainriders
Ya, as has been mentioned numerous times by others... the same with Steppenwolf, captain beefheart, lord baltimore, blue cheer bla bla bla.
Your talking about the evolution, the history..
Heavy Metal as we know it today, was fully realised by Black Sabbath.
Artists before just provided precursors.
You really shouldn't be so gullible.
Just because some journalist said Jimi's band sounded like "Metal falling from the sky" doesn't make it metal. That's hyperbole.
ExtremeBogom 8 months ago

Well now things are more clear, it seems we agree how things evolved, and became *Heavy Metal*.
