@uknnnown1234 if theyre on easy its pretty easy to win aslong as you use platforms and regularly jump your fleet, lol just like battlestar galactica, JUMP, pussys bail out whenever the cylons show up.

@firedistance2 I duno how old you are but it wasn't. It was seen as a large let down from Homeworld 1. It has scaled back maps and scaled back depth. People hated the fact you went from being able to control individual strike craft down to only controlling "squads" and people hated the removal of fuel and the lower unit limits, paper scissors stone damage scheme etc

It only looks participially good these days as it was from a time when PC games were not made with a vacuous console port in mind.

@CmdrTobs Yeah, spot on. I picked the original up on release and became a massive fan, even working on a number of mods. Homeworld 2 had a lot of expectations placed upon it, and - at the time - it didn't really live up to them, at least for the die-hard fans.

It's still a great game, and it's character has shone over time. I'm still happy to go back to it, as few games have played out space combat as well as the Homeworld series.

Homeworld needs to rise from the ashes and kick blizzard off it's rts throne. When that day happens world peace will be declared and all things will return in harmony. A paralyzed war vet will become the president and lead us out of recession. Aliens will stop by just to play homeworld 3 and bathe in it's holiness. And you will cache a Home run ball at a baseball game.

Homeworld 2 in my opinion is a good game. i love how epic the battles can look and how each detail on every weapon looks. the ships are great to look at as well. my only problem with it is it's resource system and slow gameplay and ship movements. This game has strong similarities to Sins Of a Solar Empire. i love that game but it's not perfect as well. in my opinion, if HW2 and Soase created a hybrid of the 2 games that would be the best space rts in history

@sanzoghun Intense in completely different ways. Tactics in Starcraft usually come down to rock, paper, scissors and resource control. There are so many factors in Homeworld 2 to a battle that in terms of depth is washes Starcraft out completely. The lack of simplicity that Starcraft has however is why this game isn't bigger, and why it will never be an e-sport like Starcraft and Starcraft 2.

@sanzoghun Intense because you watch HuskyStarcraft's videos. Mute them and all the intensity will be gone. Even the first Homeworld is better than SC2. Homeworld has to be the best RTS franchise out there and it is in 3D. And it feels REAL all the unit sizes and stats are proportional - Homeworld Battclecruisers are real behemoths, they are not the cartoonish joke the SC cruisers are.

@BGSoccerMagic Actually I am subscribed to Husky, but I watch only once in awhile. Imo Starcraft is just so much more fun. Not saying Homeworld is crap. Just not my style of RTS, onnly thing I have against HW is the view the game from all sides thing...I just can't get use to it.

one of the awesome things in this game, is if you have good micro skills. you can take a fleet that is smaller or equal to your enemy and come out on top with minimal losses. not to mention 8 years later this game is still beautiful and plays well.

@178thbattlegroup Really? The AI for your own ships automatically targets enemy ships that the your own are designed against. You can sometimes achieve some good positioning for an extra edge, but nothing that would make a huge difference. I like HW2, but it has nowhere near the depth of HW1 in terms of either macro or micro.

that said your right it doesnt have AS much as hw1 in terms of micro or macro, but its still there and some of it has been reworked into different in game micros that hw1 didnt have.. btw im a hw1 swarm/carrier god online.. so yeah nice try. go comment on a noobs post.

@178thbattlegroup I think you missed the point. If you attack move your fleet, your ships will auto target their specific ship counters. Unless youre targeting modules, why micro?

Why would you use a hold fire order in a battle?

Homeworld 2 is a nice game, but does not require the level of micro/macro to produce any meaningful difference between player skills (unlike SC et al.) So you can proclaim your "super skills", but it really says little about your overall gaming ability ;D.
