Weve got 2 ferrets. The 5 year old male dosent anything but ferret kibble and eggs. We got her from a guy who raised them on cat-food :(, so we're slowly getting her used to ferret kibble and raw meat. She loves raw chicken, eggs and minced beef to a lesser degree. Im thinking about getting her some dead mice...hope shell eat that too.
@SuperPolecats Our fuzzbutts really like mice too but mice tend to be a little more expensive so they usually only get them ass a treat. We found out that our cat likes the mice as a treat too.
i dont understand why is ur ferret like that? Would he be better if you gave him cooked chicken or cooked eggs or nice cooked roast beef? i just hate the whole raw diet thing, and theres always the possibility of them getting a parasite.
@mjohnnidis A raw food diet is the most healthy diet you can give a ferret. Giving them cooked food like chicken and beef isnt healthy at all. Cooking the food takes many of the nutrients they need out of the food. We get our food from a credited natural food company so the chances of them getting a parasite is very low. We also take them to the vet regularly and handle them daily. So if they got sick we would know it immediately. Loki doesnt act like this anymore, he is a perfect gentlemen now.
@Logan882 its not bad to give them cooked food, maybe better the whole raw diet. and idk does it make me a bad ferret lover because it grosses me out the whole raw food thing? lol, it decreases their cuteness in my eyes idk why! lol im aware lots of people give their ferrets raw food. i was jw why he got a little food aggressive. really cute ferret too i want a champagne point so bad!
@mjohnnidis He was the largest kit in his litter. Our breeder also gives raw meat and I think he became aggressive trying to get food from his brothers and sisters. His mother's name is Heathen (the breeder said cause she is defensive about her mice). He may have picked this trait up from is mother. Like we said in the video he only does this with the raw meat nothing else.
I really love how gentle and patient you are with your ferrets :) and also how well you deal with those who are a little more on the sensitive side about raw feeding. I really do believe feeding animals what they were meant to eat is the best. You wouldnt feed a cow a roasted chicken right? lol its just not what they were meant for. the world needs plant eaters to keep plants from overpopulating, and carnivores to keep the plant eaters from overpopulating. @mrjustintoombs We get our chick from a company named RodentPro. They vary on price depending on how many you buy at once, but, they are pretty inexpensive... i think our last batch we paid somewhere around 0.15 cents per chick. We have 2 feedings a day, each with 4 chicks. We don't feed pellets or give them anything other then raw food.
@Anniekatehowearden Well Ferrets are 100% carnivorous. So we have to feed them something. People that feed Ferrets cat food or other types of pellet food are killing them slowly. They are not able to digest or process the chemicals and dyes they add those those foods. Plus, veggies and other plants can clog their systems and cause other issues. If you want healthy, happy Ferrets you need to feed the raw meat. Ours love the chicks and they are inexpensive.
@TheTaratee You should see him now. He is about 4 times as big and still a grumpy butt, just without the sounds. All the can do now is hiss under his breath. He is much tamer now though. He is so much bigger then our female that he rips food out of her mouth if he isn't feed first. So, he gets food and she gets food. But, she is smart and will stash hers and come back for more while he scarfs his down. Then she goes and eats it all while he looks for his second piece. Its funny.
They have a wide range of feeder animals from chicks and mice to rats and bunnies. We buy in bulk and drive to a local trade show to pick up our order to save on shipping costs. They have specials all the time so i would bookmark their website and check in to see what they are offering.
No our ferrets are not from Marshall's. We actually don't like that company very much due to how they treat their ferrets. We got both our ferrets from a breeder. It was a little more expensive but we had piece of mind that or ferrets were health and eating good diets before we bought them.
As for the smell we wash the bedding and toys regularly and feed them a natural diet of chicks and mice so they aren't taking in chemicals that add to the smell.
We actually have two and they each get 2-4 chicks/day each plus kibble and egg yolks. We will soon be completely eliminating kibble from their diet. We buy from a company called Rodent Pro. Chicks come in bags of 25 and when they are on sale are .12 /chick. Really pretty cheap. We also feed rats, mice, and rabbits. The prices of those varies depending on what you get.
@thatguy27388 Just feed them mice/prey and chicken necks, liver, hearts and leg/wing! Bones are important. And get a meat grinder so u can grind a lot of meats to getter. They need whole bones to keep there tooth's clean.
