  • they heard him humming in the trunk LOL

  • I don't get the "They heard him humming in the trunk" joke??? Anyone?

  • @SKlNNYFATBOY Sinatra Jr, unlike his father, didnt have a good voice, so the kidnappers let him go because they didn't enjoy his singing/humming

  • he gave us his son as a gift!

  • Rickels is still over the top! Check out his Dean Martin Roasts and hold on!!

  • humming in the trunk.... hahahaha the best

  • God love Don Rickles. He's the absolute king.

  • just a guess but "humming in the trunk" sounds likea euphenism for homosexuality...not that there's anything wrong with that

  • @mikew909 Actually he was talking about the fact that Frank Jr. has a singing voice so bad that just him humming was enough to let their kidnapping victim go and forget about the potential ransom! LOL

  • @finally39 I thought the humming in the trunk meant masturbation, when Don is asked about why he got married so late in life, he always said he was humming in the baththub etc, he said that to Conan before Conan got married, I think that's what he means by it?

  • Did you look through all the comments for this video? There are some post from 6months to a year ago that all agree with my interpretation of the joke. Of course if you've got it in your mind that it's sexual, then to each their own, but realistically speaking, the joke IS about bad singing.

  • No need to get hot about it dummy, if that's what you want to think it's all fine with me.

  • @finally39 Yes. That is exactly what he meant.

  • Fuck AlHottez

You are 100% dead on and as much as i love Letterman, he is not funny and get ripped by Don haha. Dons a legend

  • David letterman proves he's a nobody when he's sitting with a legend. he's just not as quick/funny as don. and he's 81 years old

  • There never has been a talk show host as quick/and funny as Rickles

  • they are really good friends hes just letting his friend talk and its never bad to not be as quick as don, he even could beat johnny carson

  • Exactly. That is what is so great about Letterman and Carson. They let their guest look good. Leno always tries to compete with Rickles and it just isn't as funny.

  • What's the 'Don dropped his pants and shot off a firework' reference?

  • to make letterman laugh like this you have to be a legend

  • long live DON RICKLES!!! The last of the true comic lions of his era

  • Guys PLEASE watch RICKLES on the Dean Martin Roasts..THIS IS TAME....watch him as master of ceremonies on Dean Martin's Roasts of Dean Martin...and when he roasts RONALD REAGAN LITERALLY and then Sammy Davis Junior but then watch where he is the man of the hour and all of those guys get to Roast RICKLES, that is the finest comedy of that era, are with no racial bounds black and whites roasting each other, i'm a Brit and can say I've never seen better enter Don Rickles roast then use the links

  • That is why he was almost always the last person to speak before the man of the hour. Nobody could top him. The man is a legend!

  • @JJSOFIA666 & to add to that the roasts that werent televised were _even more_ wild, because, as we all know, events like that always get cut down to fit the timeslot & of course there were the certain rules on what you cant say on TV, in other words, sadly you'd had to be there to witness the old roasts in their prime

  • I have never heard Letterman laugh harder than he does during this interview...

  • I don't get the humming in the trunk joke.

  • Because Sinatra hung out with the mob, and Rickles was saying that the mob kidnapped the kid.

  • Lets just say that Jr. didnt have the talent his father had.Get it?

  • yea me either did u ever find out wat the joke meant???

  • Frank Sinatra Jr is a lounge singer. A "chip off the ol' block" if you will. Frank Jr was kidnapped when he was a teenager. The joke is that they let him go because of his bad singing(humming).

  • My favorite thing about this video isn't just the fact that Don is funny,

but also that he seems to have such great chemistry with both Dave & Paul.

He brings back just a bit of the feeling of the old days when he & people like the Rat Pack or Bob Hope used to appear on Carson.

    Great stuff.

  • watch the other rickles late show interviews with kimmel/lenno/fergeson

its just not the same, rickles seems to be happier on letterman

  • great book........ couldn't stop reading it

  • Did you hear the last comment that Rickles made about Dave not joining him for dinner? Imagine Rickles, Dave, and Regis all at dinner together. That's comedy right there, folks.

  • "They heard him humming in the trunk!"

  • ahaha! I'm only sayin this cause he's DEAD!

  • At a book signing, I asked Don if he was going to drop his pants and fire a rocket. He smiled and said "Not tonight!"

This guy is a living legend. And he stole the show at the Emmy's last night.

  • I love the respect Denzel paid to Rickles the entire time, and he does it by being silent and soaking in his comedy elder's presence.

Actually, I love the respect everyone posting comments over part 1-3 of this video shows! The Rat Pack might be gone, but Rickles remains, and he's, wonderfully and refreshingly, as good as ever!

  • ".......they were choking on gun powder!" He used that one at Frank's 80th birthday party too. Don is the best!

  • My wife said....Frank's upset....and she said...Stop it...stop it...he's Mr. Sinatra and he's our friend and he's upset...

    gotta love Don!

  • its not so much that he is funny, but he learned how to be funny from ppl funnier than he was---god bless you don rickles, and foster brooks and rodney dangerfield...we will not soon see their like again

  • How can someone learn to be funny from funnier people when said someone is funnier than everybody? Rickles is a true original.

  • You, sir, are a moron. Don Rickles was doing stand-up 50 years before Dane Cook, jackass.

  • Well, I guess you should've spent more time studying Don and his humor (or any comedian for that matter), because your sarcasm radar seems to have overheated on its first test and exploded.

  • They heard him humming in the trunk... brilliant!

  • yeah i didn't get that one...what did he mean by that??

  • Frank Sinatra jr is a mediocre and unsucessful singer unlike his dad. He's refering to that...

  • wow

  • Charlie Wawoom, Harry the Moose, Fingers Malone.

  • LMAO, that was wickedly funny.

  • first, I didn't catch charlie's surname, but now I know it, thnx

    and Don is funny

  • Classy people?

    Drop pants, fire rocket?

I wish I had a name like those.

John Wawoom, John the Moose, Fingers Johnny.

    LMMFAO

  • 1940's gangster names.

  • the reality is, no matter who is president, it all stays the same

  • Ya, but at least the international meetings will be muuuuch funnier.

  • Scrap Hillary, Obama, Romney and McCain -- Rickles for President!

  • ha yeah best idea ever! everyone should do a write in vote.

  • Yea I would vote for Don Rickles.Anything is better than what Bush put us through.

  • if don was president there would be no terrorism cause everyone would be laughing and happy

  • Man, at 81, still kickin' ass. Rickles is awesome.

  • a CLASS ACT

  • i'd wanna to have memories like that...

  • legendary humor----------nobody better

good HBO special on Rickles life airing now

  • great

  • wow !!!

  • great talent
