LoL! That teeny frigate was an assault frigate. The guy I really felt sorry for was the Tempest pilot. He warped to the gate just as we jumped in. What the video doesn't show is a Cerberus spamming missiles at us from 100+ km away... which also died after a cloaked frig got to him and everyone warped there. :P

I'd have preferred the game if it let you control the ships with joysticks and have more emphasis on piloting ability, rather than the traditional mmorpg icon driven point and click mouse approach.

CCP started working on the idea of piloting some ships with joysticks in 2004

It's announced now that they will maybe add a joystick feature. Where you manoeuvre the ship through asteroid belts.

EVE has some awesome graphics now, especially when you zoom way in. Most youtube videos are zoomed out so people can get a feel for where all the ships are in relation to one another. Each colored square is a player and it is very important to move together as a fleet and fight together as a fleet.

You can't switch to first person view but you can zoom in until the ship is "in your face". ;) You can rotate the camera at will and also look at other ships.

You can play the game in freelancer or X2 style? Really??? I am thinkin of give it a try...but in most vids on youtube it looks like a strategy-game. All from a distance...with a lot of klickin ;-)

the purple dots are gang members you can only see the dots when you scrool out to see the whole fleet when i scroll in you can see the ships

It depends what your idea of worth is... Is a complete and total addiction worth it? Because thats what EVE will offer you. Addiction... Ive played all the major mmo's.. And this one is BY FAR the best..

The (purple) boxes are just something handy to indicate there's a ship of your gang over there, when you zoom in a bit you can see the ships.

for instance someone with a skull in his/her box means that he/she is wanted.

those are icons used to represent the ship. he zoomed out because there were so many ships, so all you see are the icons. if one were to zoom in (in the game) you would see all the ships

wow dude these guys obviously don't have any clues about fleet actions, you dont have your allies on your overview, it just gets the wrong people killed. Good video though.

The allies were on the overview so that I could try and get some footage on allied ships. Besides, I wasn't about to shoot anyone in a cloaked ship. ;) Overview settings are a personal preference anyways.

yeah it would cost more to fire it but the fact that 100 pilots got horribly destroyed and podded (yes they can be podded at the same time) would make up for that.
