My ferret looks just the one that looks like it has a mask. My ferret is litter box trained. He is my pride and joy. He likes to play but when he sleepy he wants to be held. He sleeps on my chest. Hes my little baby :))

I picked up the most expensive bag of ferret food at petsmart, then went down the cat food isle and compared every brand with the ingredients till i found one that had THE EXACT SAME ingredients. guess what? I pay way less then i would if i bought the name brand ferret food, which means more money for ferret toys :)

I'm thinking about getting two Ferrets some time in the future, but I have three rats an adding two more in a few months. Do you think it will be a bad idea to get Ferrets then? I keep hearing they like to eat other animals like birds an rats... I remember growing up with Ferrets. I always loved them, but then when we moved I never saw them again. They were my step grandpa's Ferrets.
My sister adopted a ferret but i'm kinda scared of it, as the before owner told me that it once bit him in the finger through the nail! But i see in your video at 0:40 you put your finger into your ferrets mouth! I wish i could do so, i am clueless how to play with her really, but i really want to.
@kibou10 with the 2 i had, i found out the rougher you play with em the harder they bite... so i didnt play rough with mine. "smokey" only bit thru my finger nail one time and it was my fault,. i had a treat i was giving him and instead of letting it go, i decided to hang onto it and only let him have it a lil at a time... big mistake cause he wanted the whole thing and not bits and pieces lol. my fault, my bad idea~ and loved them both even tho they passed away
I donno about having ferrets running around the house, Id be scared in case they chewed a power cable or do some wrecking about the house! Look mischevious little devils!
Beautiful guys you have. BTW the dry cat food is actually not harmful to let them eat once I'n a while. Mine love it hear and there but there favorite is Gerbers chicken baby food.:) I've 4 and your not rough with them mind the comments. I just lost one of my 6 yr old guys to cancer .he fought for a long time but the first sign of being I'n pain I had to lay him to rest. He looks allot like you big white cutie . I'll miss him dearly they become as your own kids don't they ? :)

I would love to have another ferret someday. But with Real life in the way and the amount of care they need sadly I don't think I would be able to give them the care they need just yet. But hopefully in the future once things settle down I would love to get one or two others. got my first ferret when I was 13, Nelix was my best friend for 8 years before he got ill, sadly the vets didn't know much on ferret care and he passed away. But I will never forget him. Ask your vets on there knowledge!

@AnimalEveryWeek28 ppsshh ferrets aren't ugly. 100% puuuure cuteness. i never potty trained mine because i adopted them, yes they do stink. mine never cuddled, but i'm sure if you adopted one from a kit, you could train it to be a cuddler, although each ferret certainly has an individual personality. my ferrets were certainly rascals, they don't chew stuff up like dogs, but they can make messes and hide things. :)

A ferret is pretty much a dog or a cat in terms of required care. A guinea pig doesn't require nearly as much and it can be more of a lap pet then a ferret can. Ferrets are either running or sleeping with no inbetween.
A video as such is cute, but this goes as a warning to people CONSIDERING buying/adopting a ferret(s); This looks awfully cute, but while ferrets sleep around 19-20 hours a day, they also need to burn some energy by playing around 4 hours a day, everyday, and that can get tiring, especially if they're not litter trained. If you're a busy person and can't afford to play with it, reconsider your decision, because they deserve to be given the best life possible.

and he doesnt play and hes not hyper, And my dog ((chihuahua)) likes to play and all the ferret does is ignore him lol. We think he is about 2-3years old
we dont kno for sure. But why isnt he playing or being active? he eats,drinks and use the bathroom like a normal ferret would usally do. My dad thinks somethings wrong but i think hes just a independent ferret. heellpp pleasee
@angel10450 You could be right about his personality, as ferrets are as diverse personality wise as people are, or he may just be lonely, try to convince your dad to adopt one more, it really doesn't make much of a difference responsibility wise and it will most likely make your ferret happier, as there will always be someone for him to play with.
@angel10450 i had a ferret like that. he actually past away just recently (not related to his behavior i assure you) he did not play, he was not hyper, he was calm. he was not unhappy though, and he was not alone. we had another, and still do, named cher, and she would sleepw ith him and cuddle with him, and all taht. those two were perfectly happy, she was incredibly hyper and active, he prefered just sleeping and cuddling up with people.
Your ferrets are eating cat food? I'm assuming that it has the right nutrients in it? My wife and I live in germany at the moment and the only way to feed them was with specific ferret food as alot of the cat food alternatives that you can use are not supplied here.

@jdspringr07 you can feed ferrets premium kitten food if ferret food isn't available in your area. you just need to be sure it has the right fat and protein percentages (off the top of my head its 30% protein and 18% fat?). Avoid products with a lot of grains and veggies. they are meant to eat meat-based foods. but EVO ferret food is great if you can get it!
@JustThatGirI No ferrets sleep 18 hours a day. And some people say they could play for 6 hours...I think it depends on the ferrets and how much they get out. My 3 month old and 5 month old get out everyday,so they play a max of 4 hours and then crash.
@longboarder717 breeding ferrets is a HUGE responsibility, i recommend reading this page, it describes how the breeding process goes, its long and messy and unless you have a trained vet to help when the kits are born, dangerous for the mother and kits. Not only this, but unless the female is bred whenever she goes into heat, she will die. Unfixed males STINK. I want to add that if you breed, you need to be responsible about who they go to, and should something happen be prepared to deal with rehoming the ferrets you have bred personally, do not allow them to end up in a shelter. I support responsible breeding, so as long as you're fully committed and know what you're getting into, because ferrets are MUCH harder to breed than cats and dogs.
@99birdboi That is just a playful ferret. Ferrets actually don't bite, you have more of a chance of getting biten by a dog. A ferret only bites when it's scared or you hurt it!!!

accidentally deleted your last comment, however i don't know what to tell you about training your ferret not to bite, i found mine on craigslist and they were already trained, you'll have to get a book or do some research online, as far as the ferret sniffing stuff that's normal.
yeah. maple likes to lick my ankles after i'm out of the shower, they both lick my face when i take them out of the cage and cuddle them to my face before playtime.
maybe read online about which to get... i have a male and female, they're both great, i didn't get mine when they were kits though so i couldn't really teach them anything but go along with what they know, males are generally bigger than females i think, my female is more affectionate than the male but neither of mine really like to cuddle.... i'd just read books and internet sources.
is it better to have more than just one ferret in ur house? because i'm seeing a lot of videos now and noticing that 99% of the people on here have at least 2 ferrets. does it serve for a better playful atmosphere for the ferret if he/she has a little buddy to run around with? or are they just as capable of having fun with a full grown man? i'm getting one next year as a housewarming gift so i have time to think.
i've never had only one, but i think they have a lot more fun together, and they have another body to cuddle and keep warm with. plus they can keep each other entertained if you have things to do. their antics in a pair are far more entertaining, like doublemint gum, except you don't chew on them.
without a doubt, they're a stitch when 2 of them tackle each other. the keeping warm part i'm not afraid of because on many frequent occasions, i plan on snuggling my ferret in my sweater when the cold air shoots in. i couldn't imagine not wanting to buy him endless amounts of toys and little hammocks to nap in. i'll pretty much always have him by my side :)
if you have only one it is up to you to be playing with them when they are out and keep them entertained. Having more than one makes things easier because if you dont have the time to play with them when they are out, they have another ferret buddy to keep them company. I have 3 ferrets atm and they do a very good job of entertaining each other when i am busy doing something around the house. :)
hey i just put a video of my ferret on you should check it out but i used my webcam so it was hard to get her doing everything but i put a bunch of shoe sole things (which she stole out of our shoes) and a long tube and got a video of it but uhhhh.......check it out lol

@longboarder717 breeding ferrets is a HUGE responsibility, i recommend reading this page, it describes how the breeding process goes, its long and messy and unless you have a trained vet to help when the kits are born, dangerous for the mother and kits. Not only this, but unless the female is bred whenever she goes into heat, she will die. Unfixed males STINK. I want to add that if you breed, you need to be responsible about who they go to, and should something happen be prepared to deal with rehoming the ferrets you have bred personally, do not allow them to end up in a shelter. I support responsible breeding, so as long as you're fully committed and know what you're getting into, because ferrets are MUCH harder to breed than cats and dogs.

@longboarder717 If they don't mate, then the she-ferret dies after going into heat. I would suggest spaying. :/

@longboarder717 I wouldn't recommend breeding them.
If you dont want to get them neutered you can always get a vet to give them a hormone injection to calm them down while they are in season.

Ferret Rescue centres are widespread in the US, Australia and UK.
However, remember that they are a difficult pet and require much training and much stimulation.

@99birdboi That is just a playful ferret. Ferrets actually don't bite, you have more of a chance of getting biten by a dog. A ferret only bites when it's scared or you hurt it!!!

@kteamonster : Actually after reading about ferrets on ferret associations webpage I've discovered that descenting them can cause alot of hassles health wise.So longboard don't get it descented whatever you do.

accidentally deleted your last comment, however i don't know what to tell you about training your ferret not to bite, i found mine on craigslist and they were already trained, you'll have to get a book or do some research online, as far as the ferret sniffing stuff that's normal.

yeah. maple likes to lick my ankles after i'm out of the shower, they both lick my face when i take them out of the cage and cuddle them to my face before playtime.

maybe read online about which to get... i have a male and female, they're both great, i didn't get mine when they were kits though so i couldn't really teach them anything but go along with what they know, males are generally bigger than females i think, my female is more affectionate than the male but neither of mine really like to cuddle.... i'd just read books and internet sources.

i really miss having 2 ferrets, 2 is so much better than one.
(one of mine died from adrenal disease, so now i just have the little one, she's really needy now and hates being alone)

to anyone who may be able to answer:
is it better to have more than just one ferret in ur house? because i'm seeing a lot of videos now and noticing that 99% of the people on here have at least 2 ferrets. does it serve for a better playful atmosphere for the ferret if he/she has a little buddy to run around with? or are they just as capable of having fun with a full grown man? i'm getting one next year as a housewarming gift so i have time to think.

i've never had only one, but i think they have a lot more fun together, and they have another body to cuddle and keep warm with. plus they can keep each other entertained if you have things to do. their antics in a pair are far more entertaining, like doublemint gum, except you don't chew on them.

without a doubt, they're a stitch when 2 of them tackle each other. the keeping warm part i'm not afraid of because on many frequent occasions, i plan on snuggling my ferret in my sweater when the cold air shoots in. i couldn't imagine not wanting to buy him endless amounts of toys and little hammocks to nap in. i'll pretty much always have him by my side :)

if you have only one it is up to you to be playing with them when they are out and keep them entertained. Having more than one makes things easier because if you dont have the time to play with them when they are out, they have another ferret buddy to keep them company. I have 3 ferrets atm and they do a very good job of entertaining each other when i am busy doing something around the house. :)

hey i just put a video of my ferret on you should check it out but i used my webcam so it was hard to get her doing everything but i put a bunch of shoe sole things (which she stole out of our shoes) and a long tube and got a video of it but uhhhh.......check it out lol
