  • This game was farking awesome. got to the l;ast dude but never got around to beating him. loved this!!

  • Akuji Rules! i need to play it again, I Used to play this ame alot when i was kid, but never beated it =(

I Really Love you vids why dont u speak on them? I mean I Think it would be better if you talk what u write in the description

  • awesome game!

  • what is this human version of crash bandit? lol

  • @xLastToHearYourDeadx It's more like Gex meets Soul Reaver

  • i remember playing this a few times at my cousins house in the 90s.never played it since

  • Thank you *so much* for these and the PS2 Underrated Gem videos. If it weren't for you I probably wouldn't have discovered Sphinx for the PS2, which my GF and I enjoyed immensely.

  • i had this game when i was like 4 i never completed the first level :D i couldnt read when i was 4 and i didnt know that you need to hold the X to jump higher and i couldnt reach 1 place but when i finaly reached it that big ass chicken came out and scared the shit out of me :D i turned the console right away :D

  • Excellent game!

  • Thanks for going through with this exhibition. You have brought back another memory for me. Wasnt there a part of this game where Akuji morphs into a half man half cat hybrid?

  • @redbuck82 Yes it is combatible.

  • this was actually the first game to include a black man as a main character

  • @pabsensi

mj in moonwalker, shaq in shaq fu, spawn, and michael jordan all had games before akuji.

  • was akuji really underrated i mean this is one of my favourite games ever i havent been able to find the original disc in a good condition

  • @foka527 It was generally overlooked by PS1 gamers. Soul Reaver was the big Crystal Dynamics game that got most of the attention, and well as GEX. Akuji just kind of slipped bye.

  • I remember the commercials for this game were awesome.

  • Did akuji actually goes out after Soul Reaver.... i played Soul Reaver like two years after finishing Akuji.

By the way, i´ve been enjoyoing a lto your vids.... so now im a suscriber

  • @Semidioz Akuji came out in 1998, and Soul Reaver came out in 1999.

I was just using Soul Reaver to describe Akuji, because it's a better known game.

  • SHAFT! THE HEARTLESS! So funny that they picked Richard Roundtree to do the voice of Akuji.

  • Thanks for uploading this! me and one of my friends wanted this game before it came out . We read about it in game informers and it sounded pretty kickass but we never saw it in stores so we assumed that it was never released

Until one day i was on ebay buying a ton of ps1 games and there it was Akuji the heartless! He thought i was messing with him so i showed him this vid. He was pretty speechless.

  • This game used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid, loved every second of it. Thanks for uploading this!

  • @redbuck82 Yep I do believe so, but I still prefer to use the D-pad myself. Once you build up the callous for d-pad play it's not so bad.

  • Oh man you have Rising Zan AND Akuji!?

this 2 games where the games I rented the most when I was a little kid(my mom duh!)I have Akuji I'm going to play it on the ps3 just for the memories =D

  • this game still scares the shit outta me

  • I only ever got to play the demo of this game, it was included with some gaming magazine I bought years ago, it used to scare me when I played it though (when I was younger). It's too bad I never managed to get the full game

  • just bought this game for 3$

  • This game reminds me of Shadowman. Especially the environment and the light effects.

  • well i did this misson in demo u can get demo by buying Pandemom its reall easy the demo. SO basic ally do u fight ur brother

  • this game... you cant imagine how much i played these games when i was 4-10yrs old

this game used to scare tha shit outta me, the noises that those grey things make, when i heard that for the first time i turned the console off lol.

oh and btw man i dont know if you have a video about it already, but you should do one about this game called T´ai Fu, its a beat em up that was overlooked because many reviewers gave it mediocre scores, but its a pretty fun game

  • I don't have T´ai Fu, but I've wanted it since I played the demo. I still have that demo actually.

  • my first game on playstation 1 i never forget the feeling to play such a gret game like this...

  • I never heard of this game until the reference in gex itself (secret TV 2 in gex 3 for PSX pal version has the exact same music)

  • looks like soul reaver...

  • @DARUTO1234 It's like a mixture of Soul Reaver and Gex, and they are all made by Crystal Dynamics, so that's probably why.

  • I have bought this game today preowned and and it reminds me a little about Shadowman...but Akuji looks much better and are more easy to play :)

  • @Brumbazzen It's a little Gex meets Soul Reaver (no wonder considering that it was made by Crystal Dynamics who also made the other two).

It's one of those dark games like Shadowman and Soul Reaver.

  • when i played this i screamed when i saw the first cut in half guy

  • when I was young this game confused so much...I was so scared I couldn't focus but yet I played it...

  • Yo I remember this 1. Yeah dude, I thought it was soooo underated. Some gamers & reveiws big time dissed this 1 hard. I loved it because it was simple 2 play & the graphics were pretty good 4 the time. I still got it, although never finished. I got stuck near the end. Runnning around N circles, a glich N the game bummer. I'm a Playstation/Xbox loving it all now. I can't play all that great but games like this make it fun 4 me. Good pick!

  • One of the greatest PS1 games ever

  • Holy fucking shit! I remember this off a Station 4 demo! :O

  • yeah body...Bust a groove, Syphon Filter, that skate

  • EIDOS at its peak.

    Gex - Never Forget.

  • Well it's Crystal Dynamics who made it Eidos is just the publisher, but I'd agree that on the PS1 Eidos was at it's peak of publishing great games. With the exception of Deus Ex, nothing they've published since can even touch their PS1 lineup.

  • Good point. I assume you know about Eidos' announcement? About how they're going to resurrect a AAA game of theirs?

  • I haven't been paying attention, but I'm curious to see what they're planning.

I'm also curious to see what direction they'll now be taking now that they're owned by Square-Enix.

  • Heh, I forgot all about that.

Good way to thank them for publishing FF7 for PC - buying them.

I hope they bring this, Gex, or Warzone 2100 back. Imagine what Square could do with Warzone. Their first true RTS! That would be awesome.

  • Chances are they're going to still bank off the Tomb Raider name somehow, but they could try and branch it off. Tomb Raider RPG.

    Gex would be cool too.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  • Square's too smart to do that. Then again, they're still working on The Third Birthday...

Also, I'd like to make a correction--Crystal Dynamics is bringing back a AAA game, not Eidos. Sorry!

  • this game looks just as good on my espxe emulator with texture filtering and extensions.

  • i have this game and i love playin it

  • I remember seeing this a lot in gaming magazines. The only reason I never got it was because the premise scared the crap out of me lol. I probably wouldn't even be able to find it now.

  • i remember this game! its awesome! scared the crap out of me when i was a kid lol

  • Thanks for the upload -- I'm really tempted to play through this once more.

    It is a great game.

  • This isn't a completest run. I'm mainly just showing off as much gameplay as I can in the time I have.
