I love how WG are so hardworking! They aren't the kind of idols who will promote in another country without learning the language first. This video is from 2008, only 1 year after their debut, the oldest member (Yubin) is 20 and the youngest (Sohee,Sunmi) are 16 only! I don't speak chinese, but I can tell that they worked hard because they speak so much and they sound good~~

You can say their music is manufactured but these girls are intelligent and have the ambition & drive that I can say nothing but RESPECT. Love it when they said "I want to be world's no1". Their chinese is not good. pronounciation is weird.they act like mandarin is some easy peasy lemon squeezy language to learn.the qualified mandarin teachers I know said that the accent is not pleasant for chinese nationals or people who have been speaking mandarin their whole life to hear.and I'm only about 1/8 or 1/4 Chinese and I uttered my first mandarin word when I was about 2 years old.

Not "perfect" but definately cant deny the fact that they sound AMAZING! WONDERFUL! To hear em speak Eng so well, is impressive enuf, (Im sure they studied very hard, but they mustve only been officially learnin a few short years, max) To hear em spk Mando, 1 of the most difficult lang to learn, Im in shock. This is more than enuf for me; even if they dont continue to improve it (which i know they will) they're still already the best mando-speakin Krns Ive ever heard!

I can't believe my hears. Their Chinese is so good (better than SJM). But it's funny how SJM's Chinese sounds better in their songs than WG's Chinese in the Chinese version of their songs.

even though sunye spoke the most...sunmi's mandarin actually sounded the best. both its grammar and pronunciation. and when i heard her speak english it sounded very natural as well.... that girl has got a talent in language as well... she should continue her language studies even if she's taking a break from the entertainment industry...because she will be able to speak fluent mandarin and english within a short period of study.

korean's writing system is sooo much easier than the chinese system. Thier language is a phonemic alphabet language composed of consonents and vowels just like the american system, thats why its easier than chinese.

I'm really proud of how well they can speak mandarin chinese on their own like that ... I don't mind their slight accents. :) I'm serious when i say their mandarin is good. without watching the video and just listening they sound really good. I wonder how they learned? is there a lot of pressure to speak well? I'm so jealous they can learn so well. I am currently trying to learn japanese ... I only know english and mandarin chinese. learning a language is a lot of work ... it won't be easy....

I am Chinese, can speaking both Mandarin and Cantonese. But I gotta say Chinese is one hell of a difficult language to learn.

It's impressive WGs can speak so well. Consider this interview took place back in 2007 when Sohee and Sunmi were only 15.

I don't think Korean and Chinese language are similiar though. As if you ask me to speak Korean as fluent as the WGs speak Chinese, I don't know how long it would take me to achieve that!

i don't think this is scripted. it does sound like it was rehearsed, but that's what i sound like when i speak chinese, too (i'm still learning but i'm not fluent, yet). i think they chose what to say and they know what they're saying but since they're not fluent with the speaking and pronunciation, they have to sound like "robots" in a way cause they aren't used to speaking smoothly n chinese yet.
