KITNA DOES IT AGAIN! WATCH FOR COWBOYS TO GO 9-7 AND SNEAK INTO THE WILDCARD.... MY BOY JASON GARRET 2-0 AS COWBOYS HEAD COACH... BRING ON THEM SAINTS.. IN KITNA WE TRUST.. WHO DAT.. WHO DAT SAY DEY GON BEAT DEM BOYZ!
the lions started 6-2 that year. they had a pretty good offense. since then they have a record of 2-26. You know its been its been 9 years since the lions had winning record and 10 years since their last playoff birth. They lost to washington that year. The lions are going to be good in few years. they finally have a good qb.
Any "life long" lions fan should be sad we got rid of Mr. 4th quater. Hopefuly you guys know im joking. Kitna is a game manager, not a game winner. Can't remember 1 game he won for us. I agree with RCmack, can't believe we actualy got somthing 4 him. All in all, good luck Kitna
Sucks Kitna had to be a scapegoat for the shitty Lions orginization. Hopefully the Lions will restore the roar this year....But as a lifelong Lions fan and seeing the shitty decisions made the past 7-8 years by the front office.....Doubtful. BUT! I still remain a true blue Lions fan. Good luck to Kitna in Dallas, he was always a class act, on and of the field!
Henry is one of those "buyer beware" type deals. From what I've seen, Henry has a tendency to be a liability in coverage, especially man-to-man (hence, why the Cowboys corners were playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage a lot; trust me, I've seen it, being a Cowboys fan AND living within their television market). He's also had trouble staying healthy throughout his career. Only twice has he played all 16 games in a single season, both of which were with Dallas.
Actually, that honor belongs to Hall of Famer Bobby Layne, who led the Lions to their last NFL Championship. Only a few months into the next season, they traded him to Pittsburgh, after which Layne boldly predicted that the Lions would "not win in 50 years". Well, it has been 50 years since the Lions traded Bobby Layne, and have only won one playoff game since.
But I do agree that Kitna was the best they had since then. He made a bad Detroit Lions team look good.
Out of all those QBs, only Bobby Layne is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In fact, football historians point to Layne's trade to the Steelers as the beginning of the Lions' futility, even going as far as referring to the current state of the Lions as "the Curse of Bobby Layne". But curses CAN be broken; just ask the Red Sox, Celtics, Phillies, and White Sox.
Speaking of which, the 0-16 season was in fact the 50th anniversary of the Bobby Layne trade.
Very true. I think there will be a qb controversy in Detroit. Kitna is a much better qb than Romo. Tougher, more accurate, smarter, better leader and with a good team around him who knows how good he can be. Also, with the way Romo chokes and gets hurt, Kitna might have a shot before you know it.
so kitna teaching at my highschool is great. hope he isnt a dick to tight ends

Lions GM Martin Mayhew was able to get a player, cornerback Anthony Henry, in exchange for Kitna when it looked like the Lions would just cut him.
How in the world was Mayhew able to dump Kitna and get a soild cornerback in return?
I'm starting to like Mayhew. He's making some nice deals. Mayhew is distancing himself from Matt Millen.
Millen never would have made a trade like this.

best qb they ever had

Kitna was better than recent QBs like Charlie Batch and Scott Mitchell. But he's not the best QB in Lions history.
Bobby Layne, Tobin Rote, Greg Landry, and Gary Danielson were all better than Kitna.

None of these guys had stats like Kitna. It's even more impressive considering how bad the O-line was and the team was in general.
derrike50 3 years ago
Not only that, but Kitna actually made the Lions look like a legitimate playoff contender at one point.
