Just as you described it.

I had bought a "Beringer Tube Ultragain - MIC200" preamp few years ago because the computer sound card did not have a strong input line and never used it after I replaced the sound card with an E-MU 0404.

I never thought of using it through my amp until now. I will give it a go to see if it can improve the sound on my amp. :~)

I am still "green" on these things.
