Not only the BEST Resident Evil game, bar none, but it's also one of the best games PERIOD. I know it was only a generation ago, but I think it's safe to call RE4 a masterpiece of gaming.

This song reminds me that Resident Evil is dead. Look at that cheap zombie shooter that called "Resident Evil 6".

This game, Resident Evil 4, was OK, and even though I can feel it's a bit far from the classics, it still has that atmosphere what made the olds so cool. And RE = atmospehere.

Well, this atmosphere died out almost entirely with Resident Evil 5.

And now it's entirely gone.

It's so sad if you think about this... Resident Evil is completely changed, and it'll never be the same again.

Leon (Classic horror RE like the old days)

And those other two whose name I don't remember (Maybe running from enemies, or a combination of Leon and Chris?)

Either way, think of the grand scale of things- EVERYONE is making zombie games now. Resident evil switching things up was the smart thing to do to stay fresh.

The Merchant always seemed like a scumbag to me. Someone who would kill you while your back was turned for the least bit of profit.

But this song say something else about the game. It's almost sounds like the atmosphere of being between two worlds. Day and night, real and unreal. It's strange, but very pretty.

@HylianSpirit i don't think the merchant would kill you for profit. think about it, the bad guys would have enough money to pay him to kill you if he would for money. plus you start out with a pistol and and later aquire a shotgun, if he wanted to kill you he could pull out the rpg.

I think this song resembles a blank pale sliver of hope that sanctuary will come. A small moment of safety and peace, but you know more peril will come. This sets the mood for the story of the game perfectly. A true masterpiece, and this can fit with many settings. One I picture is darkness, cold, and blankness settling in on a cold night while you are lost in your own eyes, and mind. Amazing how such a simple tone can make you think and delve into a lost fog of thought.

When playing this game for the first time on my GC, I would think to myself "Man, there's so much crap I'm dealing with". As I continued progressing the game I never knew what was coming at me next a boss battle or an onslaught of Ganado. And then...I see a blue hue of light...then I hear this music and I would sigh in relief. Even though it was creepy, it was still relaxing. I think this song does a good job of letting you know that you're safe...but only until the moment you leave that area.
